A24-year-old woman was stabbed to death inside the office of a private company in Mohali on Thursday evening, allegedly by a former partner and colleague who later turned the knife on himself in an apparent suicide attempt. The killing, which was captured on CCTV cameras installed at the office, has raised fresh concerns over workplace violence and crimes linked to failed relationships. Police have registered a murder case and are examining footage from the scene as part of their investigation. The victim, identified as Dimple, a resident of Patiala, suffered multiple stab wounds and was rushed to Fortis Hospital, where doctors declared her dead. According to preliminary investigations, both worked for a private packers and movers company in Mohali and had known each other for nearly three years. Police said the two were previously in a relationship that had ended some time ago. According to CCTV footage being examined by investigators, Harvinder entered the office around 7.40 pm on Thursday and allegedly launched the attack while Dimple was seated at her workstation. As the woman tried to flee, the accused is seen chasing her across the office premises. Investigators said he allegedly grabbed her by the hair near the entrance and continued the assault. Several employees attempted to intervene and pull him away, but failed to stop the attack. Police sources said the victim suffered more than 20 stab wounds. The assault continued even after she collapsed on the floor and stopped responding. After the attack, the accused allegedly walked back towards the section of the office where Dimple had been working and turned the weapon on himself. As per reports, he repeatedly stabbed himself in the neck and throat in an apparent suicide attempt. Investigators said he inflicted dozens of injuries on himself before collapsing. Terrified employees alerted police and emergency services, after which both the victim and the accused were taken to a nearby hospital, where Dimple was declared dead. The accused remains in critical condition. Police said the accused had reportedly been trying to reconcile with the victim after their breakup. Investigators are looking into whether an argument over their relationship immediately preceded the attack. Aman Baidwan, Station House Officer of Phase-11 Police Station, said police received information about the incident around 7.40 pm and immediately dispatched a team to the spot. A forensic team collected evidence from the office, and CCTV recordings have been seized for examination. Officials remained at the scene for several hours as part of the investigation. The families of both the victim and the accused, who are from Patiala, have been informed. Police said statements of family members will be recorded as part of the probe. The victim’s post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted on Friday.

Tagwirei has ignored that and instead sought for a position in the party structure. For one sincerely building support in the party donations can be done from behind the scenes and even through the Chairperson like Oppah Muchinguri or the President. That suffices unless there is a misguided and impulsive desire for power which compels one to continuously hog the limelight dishing gifts as a shortcut to power. However, officers grew suspicious after examining the scene. “At first glance, it appeared to be a case of suicide, but investigation confirmed it was murder,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police, Northwest, DL Nagesh. Further inquiry established that the petrol used in the crime had been arranged by the accused. Police also noted that the victim had arrived on a bike carrying only a bag and had not brought any flammable material. Officials said the couple had frequent disputes, with the accused believing Kiran was avoiding her. However, police suspect there may be additional motives and are probing whether anyone else was involved. Senior officers, including ACP, Ashok and Inspector Bhaskar, visited the crime scene. This is the terrifying reality of informal justice systems. When trust in formal institutions collapses, communities default to a tribal, immediate form of deterrence. Mob justice operates on a zero-margin-of-error principle where the accusation acts as the verdict and the execution happens concurrently. It relies entirely on collective anonymity, allowing individuals to bypass personal moral accountability under the guise of public safety. The arrest of three suspects is a surface-level fix to a structural pathogen. The video footage circulating isn't just evidence of a crime; it is documentation of a cultural normalization of violence. If a high-profile national figure can be erased from the grid in minutes based on unverified panic, then no average citizen is safe. True accountability requires dismantling the societal belief that street corners have the jurisdiction to hand out death sentences. We cannot afford to mistake collective bloodlust for civic duty. The transition from a rules-based society to a state of nature happens precisely when we begin to tolerate the mob as a legitimate alternative to due process. RIP Sydney.

His grandfather, arguably one of the greatest men in Iran’s history, his tomb was levelled to the ground. His father was forced to leave the country he loved more than anything in the world. One could say it was not his illness that killed him, but the knife we put in his back, the betrayal of a nation he had dedicated his life to. Reza Pahlavi’s friends and family who remained in Iran were murdered, one by one, at the hands of the regime WE enabled. An entire generation around him was hunted, imprisoned, executed, or driven into exile. His sister and brother, unable to bear the weight of exile and the destruction of everything they had known, took their own lives. Reza Pahlavi has the money. He could have chosen a quiet life, a life of comfort and distance, far from the insults, the threats, the endless character assassination. Instead of spending more than four decades on this path, he could have lived for himself and his family, free of this burden. Instead, he chose responsibility. He chose to stand for the very people who betrayed his family and became the cause of so much suffering in his life. What does he ask in return? Nothing. No throne has been demanded. No position imposed. He has asked only for a national process in which the Iranian people themselves decide their future. He has anchored that path in clear principles, precisely to prevent Iran from falling once again into chaos, fragmentation, and revenge. Yet even for that, he is criticised by so-called “Iran expert” podcasters who have never carried the weight of a nation on their shoulders, who say, “He does not want to lead,” “He is not your guy.” All while he and his family live under constant attacks, threats, and scrutiny on a daily basis. Despite all of that, his love for his people and his land overrides everything. He continues to fight for us. I want to say we have done nothing to deserve it, but the people of Iran have proven otherwise in these past weeks. They are no longer blinded by decades of propaganda. They are revisiting their history. They are correcting the lies they were raised with. They are openly calling his name in the streets, knowing the price that must be paid for it. They are awake to the mistakes of past generations, and they have reached out their hand to him. And he, despite everything, has taken that hand.

As he completes six years in Tihar jail, reading news reports about students and young people protesting the NEET paper leak made Umar Khalid feel a rise of "restlessness”, he said, speaking to his friends and family. For Khalid, the significance lies in the fact that despite “all the lies, all the propaganda, and all the violence and threats”, young people have not been deterred from exercising their freedom and agency. “They are once again proclaiming to the state: we see you.” He also writes about his book, Fractured Communities: Adivasi Histories and the Politics of Power, being received with kindness – something that “reaffirms my belief in the power of words”.
