The shift to his favoured attacking midfield role hit his defensive metrics but it allowed Bruno to hit a 5 year peak in terms of VAEP (according to Scout Lab data). This wasn’t a typical campaign where the title-chasing sides completely dominated the individual metrics. Players such as Senesi and Elliot Anderson also stood out in terms of VAEP. 🚨 I'm hearing Michael Carrick wants us to dominate games with possession, and I genuinely can't wait to watch it. But I honestly feel sorry for any Premier League or Champions League team that we decides to sit deep and hit them on the counter. Teams like Man City or Arsenal will be in real trouble. With Rashford, Mbeumo, Benjamin Šeško and Cunha running at you, plus Bruno Fernandes and Tielemans picking those killer long and short passes... good luck stopping that. He hasn’t had the hottest start to the season like some of the other freshmen, but I’m a big fan of Cincinnati’s Shon Abaev and his long term trajectory. Abaev has scored in double figures in four out of the Bearcats six games this season, including a 20-point/8-rebound/3assist performance yesterday vs. NJIT. An under-the-radar freshman to watch as we get closer to conference play. Legit NBA prospect.

4 years ago today, Arsenal, who finished 5th in the Premier League, were 2-0 down at half time against FC Nürnberg in their first pre season friendly if the summer, leading to a meltdown on social media. New signing Gabriel Jesus would come on for the second half and turn the game on its head with Arsenal winning 5-3. Jesus scored twice and had another 2 goals go down as own goals. Arsenal won every pre season game & won 9 of their opening 10 Premier League games. Many believe this was the game when Arsenal transitioned from a Top 6 team into serious title contenders.
