The Perseverance of Welkait Amhara after 30 years of Ethnic Cleansing and Genocide at the hands of the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) Today marks the 3 year anniversary of the #MaiKadraMassacre, one of the largest and most gruesome massacre of civilians since war broke out in #Ethiopia on November 4th when TPLF attacked a military command post in Tigray. On November 9th, as TPLF forces were losing ground on all fronts, a Tigrayan youth group named Samri, led by Capt. Kassaye Mehar, went door to door in the town of Mai-Kadra and massacred over 1600 Amhara civilians. Mai-Kadra is a town located in the Amhara ancestral land of Welkait, or what TPLF and their Western backers call Western Tigray. In 1991, when TPLF came to power after the fall of the DERG regime, it annexed Welkait into Tigray and called it West Tigray. It's important to point out that TPLF started its armed struggle with the goal of "liberating" Tigray from Ethiopia, as their name clearly indicates. In order to make this a reality Tigray lacked two things; fertile land and an international border with a neighboring country, as Tigray was encircled by Amhara, Afar, and Eritrea inhabited lands. This is how their plan to annex Welkait (to the west) and Raya (to the south), two Amhara ancestral lands, came about. By annexing these lands as soon as they came to power in 1991 (way before the ethnic based constitution was ratified in 1994), they were able to achieve both goals of getting fertile land and having an international border with Sudan. If you're curious as to why Ethiopia is the only country in the world to have an article in its constitution (Article 39) that gives any of the ethnic based regions the right to secede from Ethiopia, the answer should be obvious by now. TPLF did not add this into the constitution so that Oromia or Somali region can declare independence, it was a parachute they were saving for themselves when they can no longer rule Ethiopia (they lost power in 2018). It's not like TPLF was not warned about the dangers of annexing the Amhara ancestral lands of Welkait and Raya. As @_HornAfrica pointed out in a tweet today, "Haileleul Getahun, in his book 'Assault on Rural Poverty: The Case of Ethiopia,' predicted two decades ago that Tigray annexing Welkait (Amhara lands) will trigger a regional conflict." ------------------------------------------- Excerpt from "Assault on Rural Poverty: The Case of Ethiopia", Published April 18, 2001: Therefore, the government chose to annex the land that was traditionally the home of other ethnic groups by force of arms. The TPLF's major concern appears to be the consolidation of its power base by developing economic resources that will enable it to withstand any attempts from outside Tigray to adversely affect its goal of having the potential to be economically self-sufficient. To this end, the government was very active in developing the necessary infrastructure and resettling Tigrayan returnees from Sudan and demobilized TPLF soldiers in these districts. By resettling Tigrayan returnees and demobilized TPLF soldiers among the Amhara ethnic population, the TPLF tried to change the ethnic configuration of the annexed area with a view to ensuring that the majority of the settlers are from Tigray. To reinforce its plan, the language of instruction in the government primary schools quickly changed from Amharic to Tigregna, even though a substantial number of Amhara families still remained in the districts. As time passed, the TPLF evicted the peasants of Northern Gondar and Wollo from their ancestral lands and annexed these areas to Tigray. The ethnically cleansed peasants from these places are now landless paupers, many exploited as cheap farm labor by the expropriators of their land. Others are forced to survive as beggars in Gondar, Dessie, and Bahar Dar. ... Considering the gravity of this situation and its future implications, two prominent Ethiopians from region 3 (Amhara region), the late Dagnew W. Selassie, and Fitaye Assegu wrote a joint memorandum to Prime Minister Meles Zenawi, asking him to annul or declare invalid the redrawing of boundaries along ethnic lines. To date, Meles Zenawi has not reacted one way or the other. Although information is scanty, it is now understood that the Ethiopian Patriotic Front (Keffagne), an underground movement for the liberation of Humera, Tselemt, Welkait, and Tsegede is now operating in the region. The TPLF, EPLF, and others started their movements in the same way as the Keffagne. These districts must be returned to their original killils, otherwise a bloody civil war possibly affecting the entire horn of Africa could erupt. ---------------------------------------- Fast forward to today, Welkait and Raya have been restored to their rightful owner and informally incorporated into the Amhara region for the past 3 years after the Federal, Amhara Special forces and Fano freed the areas from TPLF in November 2020. The Federal government has put these areas in a limbo for the past 3 years by refusing to ratify their incorporation into the Amhara region and refusing to release 3 years of budget. These areas have been getting by from budgetary support they're getting from Amhara region and individual contributions from Amharas. The Pretoria agreement that was signed by the Federal government and TPLF last November states that the resolution to these "contested" lands will be done through the constitution, but as stated earlier, these lands were annexed by TPLF in 1991, 3 years prior to when the Ethiopian constitution was adopted (1994). Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali 🇪🇹 in a recent speech said that the issue will be resolved through a referendum, but as the book by Haileleul Getahum illustrates, TPLF has spent the past 30 plus years ethnically cleansing the native Amhara and settling Tigrayans on these lands. So the Prime Minister saying this will be resolved through referendum is an indirect admission that he wants these lands to be given back to TPLF. This might raise a question of why Abiy would want these lands to be given to TPLF, as TPLF led an insurrection to topple his government. For Abiy, everything is about preserving his power. From his point of view, TPLF is too weak to pose a threat to his power. So handing back these lands to them won't pose a major threat, and will put him in good grace with the US government and can get him IMF and World Bank loans to save the crashing economy. With TPLF and Tigray weakened, the biggest threat to Abiy and his Oromo nationalist government are Amhara, as demonstrated by the all out war he has waged on Amharas since signing the Pretoria agreement. The reason he disband the Amhara Special Forces in April before disarming TPLF, and the reason he has waged a full scale war on Amharas to disarm Fano is to achieve his goal of weakening Amhara and handing over the Amhara ancestral lands of Welkait and Raya to TPLF as part of the Pretoria agreement that was sponsored by the US. The Amhara in Welkait and Raya are steadfast in their determination to live free as proud Amhara, after enduring over 30 years of subjugation at the hands of the ethno-fascist Tigray People's Liberation Front. They are now demanding for their land to be formally recognized as part of the Amhara region and their budget, that has been withheld the past 3 years, to be released. Meanwhile the Amhara in Gojjam, Gondar, Wollo, and Shewa have risen up and are fighting the new ethno-fascist in power, the Oromo Prosperity Party led by Abiy Ahmed, so they can live free as proud Amhara. After 50 years of torment, ethnic cleansing, and institutionalized genocide, the Amhara people have said enough and there is not enough drones or tanks or artilleries that Abiy can use to stop the rise of Amhara. #AmharaRevolution #WarOnAmhara #AmharaGenocide

Rumor has it, Abiy Ahmed Ali 🇪🇹 is expected to launch an all out war against TPLF and Eritrea, following the African Union Summit, which concludes on February 16. The recent large-scale ENDF offensive in North Shewa and Wollo Zones of Amhara region, accompanied by a complete communications blackout, appears to be aimed at weakening Fano in order to prevent it from advancing toward Addis Ababa once a new northern war begins. So far the offensive has not been successful with ENDF facing heavy losses, with large scale civilian massacres reported in retaliation for these losses. At the same time, ENDF has been observed redeploying troops and heavy weaponry from South Gonder and other parts of the Amhara region toward Tigray. ENDF forces have reportedly been withdrawn from 13 of the 18 woredas in South Gonder, including Hamusit, Ibnat, Meketewa, Arb Gebeya, Welela Behar, Aja, Ayisa, Muja, and Wegeda, and shifted northward. TPLF has also been seen moving troops and heavy weapons toward Welkait and Telemt from Sudan, Shiraro, and Dedebit. A sizable force, along with logistics and heavy weaponry, has also been deployed yesterday in Maychew and Mehoni along the Raya front, signaling preparations for another offensive. The latest statement by Ethiopian FM Gedion Timothewos Hessebon further reinforces the likelihood of escalation, suggesting that the question is no longer if a war with Eritrea will occur, but when. And when the war eventually breaks out, Abiy is expected to point to this letter as evidence that he pursued every available peaceful option, framing the war as a last resort imposed upon him.

More Than 1,300 Tons of Weapons Reveal the Scale of UAE Support for the Genocidal Rapid Support Militia in North Kordofan The enormous military stockpiles discovered by the Sudanese Armed Forces and allied forces following the liberation of several areas in North Kordofan reveal the scale of the military, financial, and logistical support provided by the United Arab Emirates to the Rapid Support Militia. This support enabled the militia to occupy towns and villages and carry out killings, torture, forced displacement, and widespread looting against the Sudanese people. Military sources reported that approximately 480 tons of various weapons were documented in the city of Bara, while the quantity of weapons and ammunition found in Jabra Al-Sheikh had exceeded 850 tons by Thursday. The preliminary total from the two areas has therefore surpassed 1,300 tons. Specialized military committees are continuing to document and inventory the captured equipment, and the total is expected to rise as additional weapons and ammunition are discovered inside civilian homes that the militia seized and converted into military storage facilities. According to the preliminary inventory of equipment captured during the battles to liberate areas of North Kordofan, the forces recovered more than 240 combat and armored vehicles, eight weapons and ammunition warehouses, ten medical supply warehouses, and thousands of barrels filled with fuel. The sheer volume of these supplies demonstrates the level of resources the UAE provided to prolong the war and keep the militia’s killing machine operational. The same militia supplied with these weapons invaded cities, tortured Sudanese civilians, killed residents, forced communities to flee, looted markets and homes, and converted civilian property into military bases and storage sites. The discovery of weapons inside residential homes also exposes the militia’s systematic seizure of civilian neighborhoods for military purposes. Sudanese homes were used to store ammunition, fuel, and other supplies delivered through the UAE-backed logistical network. International investigations have documented the delivery of advanced weapons to the militia with support from the UAE, alongside the recruitment and transportation of foreign mercenaries and the operation of air and land supply networks that enabled the militia to continue its war against the Sudanese people. The arsenal uncovered in Bara and Jabra Al-Sheikh represents only part of the resources Abu Dhabi has committed to enabling a militia responsible for massacres, rape, torture, and mass displacement. Each area liberated by the Sudanese army reveals further evidence of the scale of the UAE project that turned Sudan into a battlefield for financing and arming a militia engaged in genocide and terror against civilians. #Sudan #RSFisTerroristOrganization #UAEKillsSudanesePeople #UAESponsorsTerrorism

Solomon Bogale’s entire court process had nothing to do with his asylum case. Instead, prosecutors accused him of participating in the massacre of over 2000 Amhara civilians in Maikadra, Gonder, an allegation that is completely false and diabolical. Solomon is Amhara himself and from Gonder, and the victims of Maikadra were Amhara civilians from Gonder. He is being accused simply for condemning the TPLF for massacring Amhara civilians. Solomon went to Ethiopia well after the war started to help Amhara civilians who were being targeted and massacred by Tigray terrorists, TPLF . The prosecutors had no evidence against him other than the fact that he condemned the TPLF, a terrorist organization who is responsible for massacring tens of thousands of Amhara civilians. Rather than focusing on these facts, they relied on Tigray propaganda to justify their case against him. Before all of this, Solomon worked hard for nine months, bought his own truck, and opened his own trucking business. He was doing well, and his plan was to hire drivers and expand the business. He was a law-abiding individual when he was arrested at the courthouse during a hearing. He says his asylum claim was rejected because of these false accusations. He could have appealed the decision, but he chose not to, knowing that the authorities were focused on promoting the propaganda narrative rather than the truth. Solomon has no history of any criminal activity or wrongdoing of any kind. Meanwhile, the Tigray forces, including the TPLF, TDF, and TLF, along with their supporters, were responsible for the Maikadra massacre, in which approximately 2,000 Amhara civilians were killed. Some of the perpetrators fled to Sudan, and some who sought asylum are now in the United States. These individuals have also spread so many blatant false narratives that much of the Western world has come to believe that Maikadra was a massacre of Tigrays. This claim is entirely false and represents one of the most egregious examples of propaganda..

🇪🇹 Thousands in Addis Ababa Protest Alleged Forced Recruitment in Tigray Thousands rallied in Ethiopia’s capital on Saturday against an alleged campaign of forced conscription by the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), in a pro-government protest organized by a coalition of Tigrayan opposition parties. Tigray is a mountainous region in northern Ethiopia, bordering Eritrea and home to some 6 million people. From 2020 to 2022, it was the center of one of this century’s deadliest wars. The TPLF had dominated Ethiopia’s national government for nearly three decades before falling out with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, whose rise to power in 2018 ended the party’s dominance. Fighting erupted in November 2020, drawing in Ethiopian federal forces and troops from neighboring Eritrea, the TPLF’s longtime enemy. Estimates of the dead range from roughly 160,000 to as high as 600,000, with many dying from direct fighting, and also from starvation and the collapse of healthcare during the war and federal blockade. A November 2022 peace agreement ended the fighting but left major underlying disputes unresolved. Now the region is sliding back toward confrontation. The TPLF reasserted control over Tigray’s political administration on May 5, displacing the federal-backed interim administration established under the peace deal, and issued a June proclamation mandating military service. Human Rights Watch reported on July 6 that Tigrayan authorities and forces have been abducting and forcibly recruiting civilians, including boys as young as 15, through nighttime raids on homes and recruitment drives at offices and gold-mining sites. Protesters in Addis Ababa carried banners reading, “The Ethiopian government must fulfil its duty to protect the people of Tigray.” The federal government has separately accused the TPLF of sending fighters to Sudan, without providing evidence, with protestors holding signs reading “Stop trafficking combatants to Sudan!” 🎥 Melat Kiros, the Ethiopian-born, Tigrayan-American Democratic nominee for Denver’s overwhelmingly Democratic congressional district, recently spoke with Drop Site about her upbringing, her family’s experience during the devastating war in Tigray, and the catastrophic humanitarian crisis it left behind. That interview is linked in reply. Below, in a recent conversation in Denver on the Voice of Tegaru channel, Kiros discusses civic engagement and the importance of connecting the Tigrayan cause with struggles across the Global South and with issues facing communities in the United States. 🇷🇺Chronicles of a defeated Russian army: The Russian military Telegram channel War Zone reports that large-scale violations, corruption, and falsification of reports have been uncovered in the Russian military group “Vostok” — according to sources close to military circles. According to their information, during an inspection of units of the “Vostok” group on May 19, 2026, the commission revealed facts of falsification of combat operation results and submission of false reports. A particularly dire situation was recorded in the 29th Combined Arms Army, commanded by Lieutenant General Alexei Zhuravlyov. The main accusations include: ▪️ Colonel General Andrei Ivanaev systematically provided inaccurate information to the General Staff regarding the capture of settlements, destruction of Ukrainian positions, and the number of downed drones. ▪️ Cases were recorded where the temporary entry of small groups into populated areas was presented in official reports as full control, despite the fact that the soldiers were killed shortly afterwards. ▪️ In some units, the level of disciplinary violations, including alcohol and drug use, marauding, and arbitrary abandonment of positions, reaches up to 60%. ▪️ There are reports that a significant part of the bodies of dead servicemen are not evacuated and are recorded as missing in action, which serves to avoid paying compensation. ▪️ The commission also uncovered facts of misappropriation and illegal resale of humanitarian aid, equipment, and drones. ▪️ According to the inspection materials, individual units of the group were assessed as insufficiently prepared to fulfill the tasks set by the General Staff. According to the source, these facts represent a serious problem and a reputational blow for the Russian army. This detailed exposure of systemic corruption, falsified reports, and poor discipline in one of the key Russian military groups once again confirms the deep rot within the Russian armed forces. The fact that such problems are being openly discussed even in pro-Russian military channels shows how widespread and unsustainable the situation has become. This internal decay significantly undermines Russia’s combat effectiveness and long-term prospects in the war.

🚨 Breaking: Reports show the Abiy Ahmed Ali 🇪🇹 regime has begun supplying mechanized weapons to Oromia Special Forces as ENDF withdraws from Oromia and redeploys north. This move contravenes the Ethiopian Constitution, which stipulates that only the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) may be equipped with mechanized weaponry. Ethio Focus News previously reported that the Oromia Region has been purchasing weapons on the global market after receiving authorization from the federal government, another constitutional violation, as procurement authority is granted exclusively to the ENDF. According to sources cited by Ethio Focus News, weapons purchased by the Oromia Region were transported from Djibouti to Oromia on December 21, 2025. The Oromia Special Forces would become the only regional force granted such privileges. This development comes three years after the Abiy regime announced the disbandment of all regional special forces, a process that only targeted the Amhara Regional Forces and triggered the war in Amhara that has continued for the past three years. Notably, two days ago, the Oromia Police Commission called on former members, including regular officers, special forces personnel, and VIP protection units, who had left the service due to discharge or other reasons to rejoin within one week. Sources indicate the objective is to rapidly train and arm up to one million militias in Oromia in preparation for a broader conflict. Sources further confirm that Oromia forces are currently deployed in multiple regions and federal cities across the country, including Addis Ababa, Harar, Dire Dawa, Gambella, Asosa (Benishangul-Gumuz Region), and the Amhara Region. Statement by Joint Force of the Armed Movement Joint Forces of the Armed Struggle Movements Military Statement To the proud masses of our people, In light of the repeated conspiracies targeting the security and safety of our homeland, the intelligence of the Joint Forces of Armed Struggle Movements, in coordination with the Sudanese Military Intelligence Authority , has been monitoring hostile activities aimed at smuggling unprecedented dangerous weapons into Sudan. These weapons were intended to be transported from a European country through Chad to Darfur, specifically to the city of El Fasher, with the goal of seizing the city using devastating arms. To the proud masses of our people, Thanks to precise intelligence monitoring from both across borders and within the country, the Special Operations Forces of the Joint Forces, in coordination with the Sudanese Army, succeeded in thwarting the delivery of these dangerous weapons. A meticulously planned military operation was carried out in the X area near Nyala at 3:00 AM on Sunday, December 1, 2024. Outcomes of the operation: •Seizure of 3 large drones capable of carrying four air-to-surface missiles each. •Seizure of 6 smaller drones capable of carrying two air-to-surface missiles each. •Elimination of over 30 mercenaries from the Rapid Support Forces militia. •Destruction of 8 military vehicles. Details of the seized weapons: The weapons included drones of the Danger Propellers model, bearing the serial number J/DF24-23-01-043A, manufactured by Woodcomp Propellers in the Czech Republic, Central Europe. These drones were modified for military purposes. Their entry into Sudan marks an unprecedented event, facilitated and funded by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and coordinated with Chad to ensure their passage. Message to the UAE: You must understand that we are tracking all your steps from the western and northern borders. Your plans will fail no matter how much effort and conspiracy you invest. Cease tampering with our land and security. Know that you are wasting your people’s wealth on a doomed project, and defeat will be your fate in Sudan. We will remain steadfast, determined to eliminate all your regional and international mercenaries and seize your weapons, no matter their cost. We also thank you for your generosity in delivering these sophisticated weapons, valued at millions, which are now in our hands. We will use them to further your defeat. Message to the Chadian regime: The Sudanese and Chadian peoples are bound by ties of blood, history, and shared destiny. Your support for the Rapid Support Forces militia with weapons and supplies, and your facilitation of their passage through your territory, is an act of betrayal that history will not forgive. Your facilitation of these weapons and your support for the militia is a stain of shame, and you will pay a heavy price if you do not stop this recklessness. To the Sudanese people: This exceptional military achievement reflects the readiness of our forces to confront all conspiracies targeting the security and safety of our homeland. We renew our pledge to you to remain vigilant and steadfast, with our hands on the trigger, protecting the lives of our people and the resources of our nation from any external or internal threats until we achieve full liberation. Glory and immortality to our righteous martyrs. Shame and disgrace to the enemies of the homeland. Blades of Fire | Hands-On Gameplay Impressions ▪️Recap: New action-adventure IP from MercurySteam (Metroid Dread, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow) ▪️Coming to PS5, Xbox and PC on May 22 ▪️Around 60-70 hours long to complete ▪️You play as Aran de Lira, a forger and warrior who, after suffering a personal tragedy, "finds himself in possession of a magic hammer that lets him enter the forge of the gods to create the only weapons able to defeat Queen Nerea’s forces" ▪️The world is "squarely in fantasy territory", "rich, overabundant, lavish fantasy, as well as occasionally brutal and twisted" ▪️Magic courses through a land teeming with flowers and buzzing with wildlife, and creatures like trolls and elementals romp around ▪️Soldiers sort of look a bit like the Locust from Gears of War, chunky, loitering around. The whole game feels like it has a "chunkiness" to it, a bit like Blizzard games (hands and arms are oversized, buildings/walls are double thick). Combines to make a pleasing visual picture and give a sturdy, hefty feel ▪️"Wildly customizable weapons saves it from being just another action game", "combat is refreshingly different" ▪️Combat: Rooted in directional attacks that use every face button on a controller. On a DualSense for example, Δ aims for the head, X goes for the torso, while ⏹️ and ⭕️ swipe left and right respectively ▪️An enemy holding up a blade to protect their face for instance, can be overcome by aiming low and skewering through their gut ▪️Example: A troll boss can have a second health bar that can only be chipped away after dismembering it. If you use your right hand attacks, you can cut off its club-wielding left arm or cut off its entire face, leaving it blind and aimlessly flailing until it can regrow its eyes back ▪️Your attack and dodge stamina must be manually restored by holding the block button instead of automatically regenerating ▪️You can swap between 4 different weapons on the fly, wield your weapons via different stances, either slashing with the sharp edge or thrusting with the pointed tip; assess enemies to determine which methods are the most effective ▪️Rather than finding new weapons out in the game world, every weapon's life starts in the Forge ▪️You can create up to 7 different weapon types, from twin axes to polearms ▪️You start with your choice of a basic weapon template and tweak and modify and name, for example you can adjust the length of a spear's pole and the shape of its spear head which affects its stats ▪️A longer pole increases the spear's range, while its head shape dictates if its better at slashing or piercing ▪️Different materials also affect a weapon's weight which has an effect on your stamina pool ▪️You then physically hammer out the metal in-game on the anvil through a "remarkably involved minigame", where you control the length, force and angle of every hammer strike ▪️There is a curved line onscreen that represents the ideal weapon, you arrange a series of vertical bars to try and match the shape of that curved line with each hammer strike. Overworking results in a weaker weapon. You're rewarded with a star rating, the more stars you get, the more you can repair your weapon before it permanently breaks ▪️You can instantly remake weapons you've made before to save time ▪️Some found the weapon forging system to be "frustratingly obtuse", as there didn't seem to be a clear connection between the areas struck and the resulting shape of the metal; hoping for better tutorial or improvements before launch ▪️MercurySteam wants you to feel deeply attached to the weapons you create and carry them with you for the duration of your journey ▪️If you die, you lose your weapon upon respawning, but you can go back to where you died to retrieve them ▪️After playing for 3 hours, some hands-on impressions were unsure if the game can support a variety of a 60 hour game ("within 3 hours I’d fought the same gatekeeping miniboss 3 times") ▪️Others also felt there were uneven difficulty spikes, the game chucks multiple types of enemies at you, sometimes in confined areas. Can sometimes feel like you waste precious weapons, rest at an anvil to reforge and then enemies respawn again ▪️One previewer noted that when they started slowing down and nosing through the game's menus and built-in tips to see what they were doing wrong, they learned the game's nuances and it clicked Previews IGN: Full IGN Gameplay: Mirror: Eurogamer: #BladesofFire
