The 1 Drill To Meet All Your Rebounding Needs Some coaches don't believe in doing rebounding drills. They believe they can emphasize rebounding in everything they do without isolating it. I love that in theory. Unfortunately, it hasn't worked that well for me in reality. Coaches like Tom Izzo and Kelvin Sampson seem to agree. Michigan State and Houston are known for being 2 of the best rebounding teams in the country. I don't think it's a coincidence that they prioritize practicing rebounding. If you want your team to be elite on the boards, you must drill it in practice. Here's a versatile and game-like drill from 3v3 Drills For Offense & Defense with Coach Nick LoGalbo that will help your team dominate the glass. Setup: -Position 3 players around the perimeter -3 defensive players are in the paint Instructions: 1. The coach begins by throwing the ball to an offensive player. 2. All of the defenders close out. 3. The player who receives the pass shoots immediately. 4. The defenders must box out and grab the rebound. 5. Play is live until the ball is scored. The rebounding team does not have to take the ball out. Thus, if the defense does a good job boxing out and gathers the rebound close to the rim, they can immediately shoot. This continues until a basket is scored. 6. Each basket is worth 1 point. Play to 5.

We were in the UFC seats where the brawl happened last night. Dillon Danis and a small crew (6 people total) were sitting directly in front of me. They were friendly and well-behaved, he was taking photos with fans etc. Then, during the prelims their entire crew stood up and walked over to the entrance to the next section which were the 4 rows directly in between us and the Octagon where current and former UFC fighters were sitting: GSP, Alex Pereira, Kamaru Usman, Masvidal, Johnny Walker etc and, importantly, a bunch of the Khabib/Islam Dagestani crew. Danis was clearly trying to get his group into that section and the staff weren't letting him in. Eventually they all came back and sat back down in front of us, except Danis. He was still by the entrance to the fighter section, trying to get in. At one point one of his guys who was sitting in front of us could smell trouble and tried to get Danis to come back and sit down. Danis ignored him. Shortly after, Danis got into a spat with the Dagestani guys and the next thing we knew there was a giant brawl happening that he was in the middle of. I saw someone pick up a chair and smash someone over the head with it. It was pretty wild. The video is from just before the fight broke out - you can see the empty seats in front of us which is when the Danis crew first got up and left to try to get into the fighter-only section. P.S. Best live sporting experience I've ever had.

THE BEST LEADERS DON’T ASK FOR “BUY-IN”. THEY DO THIS INSTEAD: “Coaches use this word ‘buy-in’ all the time. And I’ll let you in on a little secret. It’s actually not a secret if you've watched anything I’ve ever put out before. I don't like the phrase ‘buy-in’. I don't like the word. I don't like the idea. It’s not something I’m interested in. I think the coaching profession and teams would be better off if coaches simply stopped asking for buy-in. But because I know that's not going to happen on anything besides a very small scale with a few select coaches and they're going to talk about and use the phrase ‘buy-in’, then we want to at least try to do it as best as we possibly can. But between you and me — don't even use the word. Don't use the word. Don't ask for buy-in. Don't demand buy-in. Focus entirely on that second point (“Create something worth buying into”) and do your best to not use the phrase. First, don't use the phrase because so many other places and so many other people and so many other coaches do and people are tired of it. So, I think the responsibility is on us if we're going to use a phrase then we need to know how that phrase is going to be seen, heard, and perceived. And when people get tired of being told to buy in and asked to buy in and begged to buy in and pleaded to buy in and preached to buy in, they turn it off and they tune it out. So, I think even using the phrase runs that risk. That's #1. #2 is: Rather than ask for it, rather than demand it, rather than even use the phrase, just focus on your action and go earn buy-in by doing great work. Go earn buy-in without having to ask, without having to demand, without having to beg, without having to plead, without having to preach. Go deliver an experience where people do it naturally. Go set standards that are hard to achieve and help people meet them. Go figure out what's important to other people and make it important to you in a way that they recognize. Go point people in a direction that takes them where they want to go and also serves your team. Buy-in will happen when you (1) build great relationships, (2) you point people towards goals that they're interested in, (2) you call out the best version of themselves, and (4) you help them belong to something that they're interested in belonging to. You don't need to use the word buy-in to create that. You just have to go out do the work. And you have to be good enough to earn the buy-in you want.”

#25DaysOfCoasters RCX Top 125 Rank Bonus Day 26: #1, 420 Feet Up On Top Of The World 1. Top Thrill 2 - Cedar Point Make: Intamin/Zamperla, Model: Accelerator/LSM Launch Opened: 2003/2024 Sometimes you have to be patient and wait for really good things to come. That was the definite case with Top Thrill 2. Just 8 days of operation in its 2024 opening year. However after much trial and error the first half of 2025, CePo got this thing running consistently to end up with over 70% up time on the year. There is only about 42 seconds of ride time on Top Thrill 2, however what is done in those 42 seconds packs in more elements, thrill (top thrills you might say) and action that coasters with 2-3 minutes of prime ride time accomplish. You start with your “baby launch” 0-74 mph, a “baby” launch that is still faster than any in my home state of Florida. It may not be a top hat roll back, but then you then get a half way up the top hat roll back, something that every thoosie clamored for on the original Top Thrill Dragster and Kingda Ka. Well now it’s officially part of the ride. Roll backwards into an unhinged launch up to 100 mph. The horizontal positive force in reverse going backwards is unmatched on any other ride or coaster out there. Flying by the station, up the 400 foot Spike into pure weightless bliss. The sustained weightlessness at the top of the Spike, especially in the back rows is also unmatched. Free fall back down the vertical angle with great flojector, giving you the sensation of a traditional coaster drop mid ride. Then speed up to your max 120 mph, the sense of speed is great all around, but in the front row, you just better hope it’s not mayfly season! I noticed that at the max speed, on the Silver Train it starts to rattle, but not in a way that takes away from the ride, just adds more force, which is also why I found Silver Train gives the most unhinged force on the spin down, we’ll get back to that soon though. That climb up 420 feet doesn’t have a ton of force but is mentally just thrilling. Then the top of the world, ejector airtime 420 feet up in air. I actually felt the best airtime here in the middle of the train, Row 4 to be exact. Then the angle as you descend stares you straight at the ground from the clouds. Until you hit the spiral it just looks like you’re about to freefall straight into the ground below the top hat. Then the spiral, some of the most intense lateral force ever. If you don’t brace yourself you may end up for more than you bargained for here. I thought I seriously injured my back as silly, carefree me had my hands up and let the forces take me wherever they desired. That launched me out of the right side of the train, the spiral ends and you get thrown back against your seat, except I was not against my seat so my spine got cracked, slammed half way down my back against the edge of the train/seat. I actually heard the crack. Thought I might be seriously injured as I exited the vehicle. Turns out it was just the adjustment I needed! Thanks for being a great chiropractor TT2! And thank you to Cedar Point, Intamin & Zamperla for giving us what I consider to be the greatest roller coaster on Earth!

Malcolm Gladwell revealed why you shouldn't go to Harvard: 1. America does not have a shortage of students who want science and math degrees. It has a shortage of students who finish them. Half of all high school seniors who intend to study STEM drop out by the end of their second year. The problem is not interest. It is persistence. 2. The obvious assumption is that smarter students persist longer. So Gladwell tested it. At Hartwick College, a small liberal arts school in New York, the top third of math SAT scorers took the majority of STEM degrees. The bottom third dropped out in large numbers. The data seemed to confirm it. Smarter kids stick around longer. 3. Then he looked at Harvard. The bottom third of Harvard's math SAT scores are equal to the top third at Hartwick. By the logic above, everyone at Harvard should graduate with a STEM degree. They are all brilliant. Nobody should be dropping out. 4. Harvard showed the exact same pattern as Hartwick. Top students graduated. Bottom students dropped out like flies. Even though the bottom Harvard students were objectively brilliant by any global standard. Something else entirely was driving the dropout rate. 5. That something is called relative deprivation theory. Human beings do not measure themselves against the world. They measure themselves against the people immediately around them. A Harvard student in the bottom third does not think I am in the top one percent of all students globally. They think that kid next to me keeps getting everything right and I keep getting it wrong. So they quit. 6. The research from UCLA puts a specific number on it. Your odds of graduating with a STEM degree fall by two percentage points for every ten point increase in the average SAT score of your peers. Choose Harvard over the University of Maryland and your chance of finishing a STEM degree drops by thirty percent. Thirty percent. Just to put a brand name on your resume. 7. Relative position matters more than absolute position when it comes to confidence, motivation, and self belief. The eightieth percentile student at Harvard looks up at the people above them and feels like they cannot compete. The number one student at a state school feels like they can conquer the world. That feeling drives everything. 8. The practical hiring implication is radical. Class rank matters more than institution name. Gladwell argues companies should have a don't ask don't tell policy for where someone went to college. Hiring only from top schools means missing the top students from every other school. That is not smart hiring. That is brand worship. 9. When choosing a college, never go to the best school you get into. Go to the school where you are guaranteed to be near the top of your class. Being a big fish in a smaller pond does not just feel better. It statistically produces better outcomes than being a small fish in the most prestigious pond available. 10. So why do we keep choosing Harvard over Maryland? Because we are flattered. Because the acceptance letter feels like validation. I VEHEMENTLY disagree with Paul Finebaum’s criticism of Coach Deion Sanders, Sheduer Sanders and Colorado. He called them irrelevant and that they don’t matter to College Football. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Colorado is very relevant and broke TV viewership records last year even after their 3-0 start that saw them finish the year 4-8. They out drew some of the biggest brands in all of College Football last year. Their blowout loss to Oregon had 10.03 million viewers, which topped the Notre Dame-Ohio State game. Shedeur Sanders stated that Colorado is everyone’s Super Bowl game when they play them. HE IS CORRECT, if you take the time to understand what he meant. Every team that played Colorado last year played their hardest against them because they knew everyone was watching and it was their opportunity to shine in front of the masses. It wasn’t JUST ABOUT winning, they wanted to humiliate them and kill their confidence. It pains many that Coach Prime, his sons, Travis Hunter, his coaches and all his players are still walking in their purpose and have never wavered for a second. They know the mission they are on and won’t back down in the face of adversity. Colorado wasn’t an “Easy win” last year for anyone except Oregon and Washington State. 5 of their 8 losses were by one score or less. COACHES: If we want to develop better hockey players, we need to talk more about work AWAY FROM THE PUCK. Here are two clips to show your players on this concept. 1. GIVE-AND-GO: One of my favorite youth coaches was from Russia and Tarasov's school of hockey...and his biggest pet peeve was passing and then not moving. He would literally stop practice and make us do a somersault if we passed and stood still. Our team won a national championship, we had half our team play college hockey, and his emphasis on this I think was a huge part of our development. Why is a give-and-go big? When a defender is on you and you pass it, that split second is when they're most vulnerable. They have to look at where the puck goes but also pay attention to you. By moving right away after passing, their attention shifts, even so briefly, which allows you to get open to get it back. Check out this AMAZING give-and-go between McDavid and Draisaitl. These guys are on another level and McDavid is truly superhuman at working away from the puck. 2. WORK TO SUPPORT THE PUCK: On the second clip, watch how hard Tarasenko speeds through the neutral zone to get to a spot of support. If he doesn't, this play ends in a dump in and an easy breakout. But he hightails it, like he's shot out of a cannon, and even though he doesn't get the puck, his speed without the puck allows him to get pressure on the forecheck. 3. WORK TO GET THE PUCK BACK: Then you have Kaprizov, one of the most skilled players in the world, working to track back on the forecheck. His effort helps create the turnover and he gets rewarded with the goal. If you want to play offense, the harder you work away from the puck defensively, the more you'll benefit offensively by getting possession back. Even the best players in the world only have the puck on their stick for maybe one minute during a game. As coaches and in player development, the more we can emphasize play without the puck, the more we'll develop smarter and better players.

She said after we presented her with an offer above list price This is the story of how we closed the biggest deal in Frasier Cole history after one person and one conversation fueled a legendary revenge deal: November 15th, 2021, 1,323 days ago, 6 months into us starting Frasier Cole, we were working with a buyer who was in exchange. We already had 2 deals under contract with them and they really needed a 3rd to complete the exchange. We saw a deal that had been listed 2 days previously and it fit the clients criteria and remaining amount in their exchange. Best of all, we had a relationship with the listing brokerage as we are already under contract with them on another deal for this client's exchange. Asking price was $5m and we offered $5,090,000 30 day look/10 day close. 2 hours later we received a call from the CEO of the company. She started off cordial because, well, Mason had a prior professional relationship with this woman. Things quickly turned when she asked Mason "How he looked himself in the mirror?" and telling him he a "scumbag who only cares about low hanging fruit?" "Under no circumstance will we be paying you any commission on this deal. Your client is welcome to buy it but we will be keeping the entire fee" The reason was because she's known our client for years and because we already are under contract on a deal with this company. Our response was "If you know the buyer so well, why didn't you show him this deal?" That only made her more angry... so she said they let the other deal slide but this one they have no intention of paying a commission. Mind you, this woman makes $1-2m a year. We told the client and they were unwilling to pay our fee. Mason and I were pissed - what could we do? We have no signed buyer rep agreement and no recourse. We could let it go, move on, take the high road... F*ck that We started thinking of ways to get revenge... The best idea we could come up with that night is to buy their office building, rezone it for MF, and kick 'em out. It worked because it was a shitty office building on maybe the best development tract in Dallas. We looked up the owner of their office building and immediately called him "Would you sell 5550 LBJ?" "Yeah, actually this is perfect timing we just sorted out a title issue and are looking to sell." "Great, we'll get you an offer and take it from there" Holy sh*t We immediately called one of my best friends and college roommate Dustin who worked for a PE group in NYC. They loved the deal. What's not to love? 8.5 acres, 364k SF of office, and an existing parking garage. 17% occupied and all had short term leases or were willing to be bought out. Within a couple weeks we had an incredible offer to put in front of the owner and we were off to the races. That deal closed late yesterday after 1,322 days of working on it. Funny enough, the CEO who wronged us already moved their company out of the property before we were able to close. That's fine. Before they left, she found out that we had put the deal together. We heard she yelled at her office and land broker because they couldn't sell the building they were working in. They brought their smartest friends, who brought their smartest friends, and that’s just a huge advantage. In the tech world, with the very, very top companies, you don’t see just average people there. You see extraordinarily bright minds, and that three, four, or fifth standard deviation of skill is the same way. By the way, if you want to have the Oakland A’s be a top baseball team or a top basketball team, you can’t just have an average guy on the team. You need the very, very best—the top merit in that area. In some cases, it’s a skill, like in sports. In other areas, it’s IQ, and IQ matters a lot for what we’re doing." The American government was really competent in the mid-20th century. Is it something that no one else could do? You know, we fought two world wars. We went to the Moon. It turns out that we used to have really hard tests to run things in the U.S. government. So, allow me to go back a little bit to the 19th century. The government grew a lot after the Civil War. Abraham Lincoln created a lot of new departments, and the central government all of a sudden became a much bigger thing in the 1860s and 70s. By the time of 1883, it was a mess. Everyone agreed, this is a mess because whoever wins the presidency just brings in all their friends, all their cronies, their stupid cousin Vinnie, whoever else. They’re all getting paid a ton of money just to hang out in D.C. and not get anything done. So, they said, “Guys, we need to have tests. We need to have merit. We need to actually say the people running things need to be really smart.” So, we put in these tests with the Pendleton Act of 1883, and these tests were there all the way through the Moon landing, through everything. Then, come the late 1970s, our country became very politicized around affirmative action. It turns out these tests had different results on average for different races. They weren’t racist tests, by the way. I would agree that the tests actually measured your performance. But despite that, the activist courts on the left said, “No more tests.” So, around 1980 or so, they threw out the tests. And, by the way, they didn’t just throw out the tests. They made it almost impossible to fire people. They put in massive protections where it’s really hard and slow to fire people. So, starting in 1980, our government is not able to do tests anymore, not able to do merit. It just starts getting dumber slowly over time—dumber and dumber. So, for 45 years, our government’s been getting dumber. That is interesting. Tom Bilyeu: One of the great revelations of my adult life—and this actually bothers me—is the degree to which intelligence matters. What role do you think intelligence plays, full stop? Whether you’re trying to improve the government, whether you’re trying to be the baddest kid on the international block, or you’re trying to build a company? Joe Lonsdale: This is a really important point because, obviously, intelligence isn’t everything. I think integrity, faith, why you care about the world, and your motives matter to help people. But if you actually want to be effective at whatever those motives are, intelligence is absolutely central. Merit is absolutely central. They brought their smartest friends, who brought their smartest friends, and that’s just a huge advantage. In the tech world, with the very, very top companies, you don’t see just average people there. You see extraordinarily bright minds, and that three, four, or fifth standard deviation of skill is the same way. By the way, if you want to have the Oakland A’s be a top baseball team or a top basketball team, you can’t just have an average guy on the team. You need the very, very best—the top merit in that area. In some cases, it’s a skill, like in sports. In other areas, it’s IQ, and IQ matters a lot for what we’re doing." The American government was really competent in the mid-20th century. Is it something that no one else could do? You know, we fought two world wars. We went to the Moon. It turns out that we used to have really hard tests to run things in the U.S. government. So, allow me to go back a little bit to the 19th century. The government grew a lot after the Civil War. Abraham Lincoln created a lot of new departments, and the central government all of a sudden became a much bigger thing in the 1860s and 70s. By the time of 1883, it was a mess. Everyone agreed, this is a mess because whoever wins the presidency just brings in all their friends, all their cronies, their stupid cousin Vinnie, whoever else. They’re all getting paid a ton of money just to hang out in D.C. and not get anything done. So, they said, “Guys, we need to have tests. We need to have merit. We need to actually say the people running things need to be really smart.” So, we put in these tests with the Pendleton Act of 1883, and these tests were there all the way through the Moon landing, through everything. Then, come the late 1970s, our country became very politicized around affirmative action. It turns out these tests had different results on average for different races. They weren’t racist tests, by the way. I would agree that the tests actually measured your performance. But despite that, the activist courts on the left said, “No more tests.” So, around 1980 or so, they threw out the tests. And, by the way, they didn’t just throw out the tests. They made it almost impossible to fire people. They put in massive protections where it’s really hard and slow to fire people. So, starting in 1980, our government is not able to do tests anymore, not able to do merit. It just starts getting dumber slowly over time—dumber and dumber. So, for 45 years, our government’s been getting dumber. That is interesting. Tom Bilyeu: One of the great revelations of my adult life—and this actually bothers me—is the degree to which intelligence matters. What role do you think intelligence plays, full stop? Whether you’re trying to improve the government, whether you’re trying to be the baddest kid on the international block, or you’re trying to build a company? Joe Lonsdale: This is a really important point because, obviously, intelligence isn’t everything. I think integrity, faith, why you care about the world, and your motives matter to help people. But if you actually want to be effective at whatever those motives are, intelligence is absolutely central. Merit is absolutely central. If you look at the very top companies versus an average company, you have the best and the brightest.

Where was this response when people were crying out for help? We ask not for chaos. We ask not for division. We ask for fairness.
