Have you not seen or heard the NUP supremo Mr Kyagulanyi, and his lieutenants the Luttamuguzi’s, and the Namboze’s, among others on several occasions, urging their supporters to take on the Uganda Peoples' Defence Forces (UPDF) and Uganda Police Force ? The kind of rhetoric designed to mislead unsuspecting young Ugandans into violent confrontations with the security forces? The Daily Monitor has been writing that there is no evidence of NUP leaders inciting violence or an insurrection. Really? Is this how votes are protected? What is the Nation Media Group trying to achieve here? The security forces condemn the calls to violence by some political actors and appeal to Ugandans to reject them. We also appeal to citizens to adhere to Article 17 of the Constitution of Uganda.

ELECTION VIOLENCE: Another video has emerged from the night of January 16, 2026, when Uganda’s military stormed the home of opposition leader Bobi Wine’s aide, Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi Muhammad, in Butambala. Civilians were gunned down as soldiers allegedly searched for polling agents and official declaration of results forms. At least seven innocent people were killed that night. To this day, there has been no credible investigation into this massacre under the leadership of the CDF Muhoozi Kainerugaba. Silence and impunity cannot be the answer when citizens demanding transparency are met with bullets. The families of those killed deserve justice, truth, and reparations. We reject unchecked election fraud and state violence in Uganda—tactics that Gen. Museveni has normalized at home and exported across the region. The international community must act. Swift Global Magnitsky sanctions against top military and government officials responsible for these abuses are urgently needed. Justice must also extend to the victims massacred in November 2020 and to every Ugandan whose life has been shattered by political violence. It is the only path toward credible democracy and lasting stability.
