Detailed Narration of the Warri Incident โ€“ Saturday, August 23, 2025 Urhobo Tenants attacks against Itsekiri Peaceful Rally. Before diving into the events of that fateful Saturday, I must state an incontrovertible truth that forms the bedrock of this entire conflict: the Agbassa Urhobos are legally and historically Customary tenants of the Itsekiris. This is not a matter of debate, nor is it up for reinterpretation by propaganda. The courts of Nigeria, from colonial times up to the Supreme Court, have ruled no fewer than 14 times against the Urhobos of Agbassa, affirming that they have no ownership rights over Warri lands. Their tenancy status is well established. Yet, as history has shown, their denial of this truth has fueled cycles of provocation and violence whenever the political climate gives them cover. Historical Pattern of Urhobo Attacks The attacks carried out on August 23rd were neither novel nor surprising to the Itsekiri nation. What happened that day is part of a longstanding pattern: whenever an Urhobo man occupies the governorship of Delta State, Urhobos in Warri seize the opportunity to launch attacks on their Itsekiri landlords. The history speaks for itself. โ€ข1992 (Governor Felix Ibru): A year after Delta State was carved out of Bendel, the Urhobos attacked the Itsekiri coronation carnival trainโ€”a cultural celebration that predates the state itself. They killed 2 Itsekiris, provoking retaliation that resulted in 3 Urhobo deaths. โ€ข1993 (still under Felix Ibru): They struck again during another carnival procession, killing an Itsekiri. Retaliation left 5 Urhobos dead, by their own admission. โ€ข2000 & 2004 (Governor James Onanefe Ibori): Even while the Itsekiris were still locked in deadly war with the Ijaws, Urhobos in Warri launched unprovoked attacks, killing multiple Itsekiris. Retaliation was decisive. More than 20 Urhobos died and over 200 of them injured (by their own count and Red Cross), and their estates were razed by Itsekiri fighters. For months, the Urhobos were driven out of Warri entirely. Till date that war is called Okumagba greatest regret because he lost against itsekiriโ€™s. Fast forward to today: with another Urhobo governor, Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori, in office, the cycle has repeated. Under his watch, there have been multiple provocations and assaults by Urhobos in Warri against Itsekiris. The events of August 23rd are merely the latest chapter. Events of Saturday, August 23, 2025 The Ugbuwangue Rally In the early hours of the day, Itsekiri youths assembled at Ugbuwangue, preparing to rally across Warri in honor of the 4th Coronation Anniversary of His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, the Olu of Warri Kingdom. The procession was peaceful, joyous, and cultural in nature, passing through major roads to showcase unity and loyalty to the crown. However, at the Igbo Market Roundabout, the procession came under sudden attack. A tricycle (keke), which had been tailing the group from Ugbuwangue, sped ahead and blocked the path. Its occupants leapt out armed with machetes and began chasing the Itsekiris, striking with blades and hurling stones. Almost immediately, more Urhobo Agbassa tenants emerged with additional machetes, escalating the assault. Itsekiri youths nearby quickly regrouped, surged forward, and pushed the Urhobos back into their settlement โ€œtheir cage,โ€ as we call it. (See attached videos: 1. First ambush at Igbo Market against itsekiriโ€™s, 2. Reinforcement by Itsekiri youths repelling attackers before police intervened.)

Fighting your Ikwerre brother just to please a bunch of outsiders will never sit well with me. Our brother from Rumuepirikom has never been a wiseman. Wike & Amaechi have failed the people of Rivers State & the Niger Delta. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has spent three years as a minister, but what has he actually done for my people, apart from being garrulous & brash? The East-West road is still uncompleted. All the E&P & servicing companies are still headquartered in Lagos State. Our teeming Niger Delta sons & daughters are unemployed. The Trans-Amadi Industrial Layout is now a ghost of its once-buzzing past. A once busy park is now an Abandoned Engineering. Both have failed to unlock the maritime corridors of my region. We have the largest & deepest contiguous coastlines stretching across Ibeno, Ibaka, Calabar, Warri, Onne, & across the region. Abandoning my zone to chase shadows in Abuja is unforgivable! I can barely recognize my once-buzzing Garden City. Port Harcourt is almost a ghost town as far as business activities are concerned. Has Rivers become a place people only visit for burials? WHO WILL SAVE MY NIGER DELTA? There are no functional railroads across my Niger Delta, our maritime corridors remain moribund. Ezenwo will complete his tenure in FCT Abuja & go the way of his predecessors. I call them the โ€œthree unwise men.โ€ In their quest for power, they failed to see the bigger picture. Like Odili, like Amaechi, like Wike; they form the perfect triumvirate in a never-ending story as the โ€œRivers Dilemmaโ€ continues. ๐Ÿ’”

Yesterday , I hesitantly visited Lateef Fagbemi, SAN Nigeriaโ€™s Minister of Justice and the Attorney General of the Federation over the case of Justice Chidiebere, also known as Justice Crack, a whistleblower being unjustly persecuted by the lawless DSS after his abduction, torture and degrading treatment by the HQ Nigerian Army , I was accompanied by Barrister Marshal D F Abubakar and AAC National Secretary, Oshioks Philip Our mission was straightforward, it was to follow up on the letter earlier written by Barrister Marshal demanding that the Attorney General discontinue the reckless charges filed by the DSS against Justice Cracks, charges that have kept Justice Crack unjustly remanded in DSS custody by a Federal High Court judge, Justice Joyce Obehi Abdulmalik . We made it unequivocally clear that we would not tolerate any further delay in discontinuing the case, citing torture, abuse of process, and bogus unethical charges. We also made it clear that his Ministry is shirking in itโ€™s responsibility to protect the rights of Nigerians citing case of abuse of power, we also brought to his attention the case of Ighorhiohwunu Aghogho who remains in detention at the Warri Custodial Centre in Delta State over cyberstalking-related charges. His case has faced repeated delays at the Federal High Court in Warri Mr. Fagbemi, who was accompanied by the Solicitor-General and the Director of Public Prosecution, promised to look into our complaints. It was obvious he was uncomfortable with my presence, partly because we occupied his ministry while he was away on Monday, and also because those responsible for injustice are rarely remorseful about their wrongdoing. Nonetheless, the point was firmly made during the short meeting. We now await a swift resolution and the immediate end to this persecution.

Asari Dokubo is trending because he revealed that Olu of Warri and Osahon Idahosa are being paid โ‚ฆ2.7trn monthly for oil pipeline security, higher than Tompolo. While Billionaire, Arthur Eze and Orji Uzor Kalu are also beneficiaries. So Why is Asari blowing hot? Well.. He is reacting to Joel Omosere Agho, aka. Mr Common Senseโ€™s criticism of the Niger delta militant leaders incl. Tompolo and Asari Dokubo. Omosere recently called them out saying, Tompolo and Asari started as freedom fighters against the government system in the 2000โ€™s. They won and now get paid billions in contracts to manage and protect the facilities. But now in 2026, theyโ€™ve become politicians with access to the government. Yet the Niger Delta remains degraded, underdeveloped and poor, exactly how it was in the 2000โ€™s when they started their militant movement, which was to change these exact things, so he need answers. This is the question Asari furiously didnโ€™t answer, but instead went through an ethnic route, as the question provoked him. Asari Dokubo argued that, Omosere left his own tribesmen Olu of Warri and Osahon who are Benin and Itsekiri, earning more from the contracts, to challenge him and Tompolo who earns way lower. Apparently, Asari finds it insulting that someone from Itsekiri, Benin or Ilaje will speak about the Niger Delta creek business. He believes theyโ€™re outsiders who donโ€™t deserve to earn from their hardwork and sacrifice. As right from time, it used to be only Igbo, Yoruba and Israelis getting pipeline contracts in the Niger Delta, until Diezani came in and they all fought for their right, that got him accused of treason and arrested 73 times under Obasanjo Administration. Yet all the times during that fight, the Ilaje, Benin, Itsekiri people did not join them. After they won the battle, they too now benefit even more from their fight, which he has tolerated. Therefore, Omosere should redirect his question to his own people, and the outsiders like Authur Eze and Orji Uzor Kalu who are making the main money from the business, not him or Tompolo. Omosere has now replied, asking the question again and demanding answer, he says because Asari Dokubo did not answer the question, but this is a good start. Public records truly show that the Federal Government awarded major pipeline surveillance contracts to firms including; Tompoloโ€™s Tantita Security Services, Maton Engineering and Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL), with reports previously putting Tantitaโ€™s contract at about โ‚ฆ4 billion monthly, lower than Asariโ€™s alleged โ‚ฆ2.7T payment for the Itsekiri and Benin contractors. โ€ขโ€ข You can monitor the entire 2027 election results live in realtime, from polling units to collation centres via on your mobile phone only on or snap and upload results and watch it transmit nationwide || secure your polling unit slot now at Follow Trending Explained for daily explanations!

Who is Aliyu Shaba? Popularly known as Shaba, he is a senior officer in the Nigeria Police Force whose name is firmly established through his operations across Delta State, particularly in Warri, Effurun, and Ughelli. He rose to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) through discipline, consistency, and results. Shaba built a reputation in tough environments and is known for confronting violent crime head-on, crackdowns on armed robbery, kidn@pping, cultism, and other crimes in regions plagued by instability. He is known for personally leading his team on the ground to fight crime. In areas where fear once dominated, his operations brought a measure of control against criminal elements. In some cases, after he is transferred, violence may return, and people beg for his comeback. Aliyu Shaba is a principled officer who rejects bribery and works with focus even under limited resources. In 2023, he was named Best Police Officer of the Year in Nigeria, alongside multiple national commendations - an acknowledgment backed by record, not sentiment. Aliyu Shaba is the Effurun Area Commander, whose name has recently been dragged, including through false allegations without evidence. There is no evidence that he ordered any unlawful k**ling or armed civilians in police uniforms, yet narratives are being pushed to destroy a reputation built over years of service. Many of his attackers lack the credibility to judge what they do not understand. Some are criminals he may have fought, while others want to manipulate for their own gain. Below is Naija Confraโ€™s post from January 21, 2026, long before the Effurun incident. What we said about Shaba then still stands today. This is not about defending the police; it is about defending a good officer who has stood against cultism and violence. Anyone who fights or speaks out against cultism will not stand alone when targeted unjustly, even if they are hatยฃrs of Naija Confra. While we call out bad police officers, we must be careful not to drag the good ones along so that the mission does not lose credibility. Good officers must also start defending themselves publicly because silence creates room for manipulation.
