To the self proclaimed gate keepers of Islam, does the condemnation not extent to the Arab world or is it just reserved for Africans? For decades Somaliland has tried to secure re-recognition and every country INCLUDING Palestine who seeks the same recognition have turned their backs on Somaliland. Where was the โ€œWeโ€™re Muslim brothersโ€ argument then? Was Somaliland suppose to continue allowing their people to die in poverty? The reality is people are dying from TB in 2025 in Somaliland. Even with that reality Somaliland has continued to donate millions to Palestine and Palestine continues to mock Somaliland and laugh at the struggles of her people. Somaliland has donated livestock to the Khaliji countries before their oil was struck which was literally keeping them alive while the rest of the world turned their backs to them and today many of their wealthy influencers and politicians are referring to Somalilanders as โ€œhungry stupid peopleโ€. This narrative that is being pushed regarding Palestinians being relocated to Somaliland is as it stands false. They also were suggesting relocating Palestinians to multiple other countries including Egypt and Somalia. Why has the focus only been on Somaliland for months? Palestinians belong and deserve to remain in Palestine I do not wish for Palestinians to be relocated to any country - if that obvious opinion was not clear before. For now, the re-recognition is JUST RE-RECOGNITION. I pray it acts as a critical door that could unlock investment, security, and a path towards our ultimate goal. To our diaspora: From a place of privilege living abroad, it is easy to judge. Learn the context and history to make a well-informed opinion. To our locals: Be careful of the message you portray to the outside world. Be careful of ignorance. Optics are powerful and the whole world is watching us now. In Unity, We are poweful. #Somaliland #recognition

This is Major General Dahir Aden Indha Qarshe, a distinguished Somalian military leader and former Chief of the Somalia Army, in this clip he shared a poignant reflection on the role of Somaliland in the 1977 war between Somalia and Ethiopia. In 1977 war between Somalia and Ethiopia General Elmi led an armored Somali National Army (SNA) battalions in the Qabri Dahare Front. In his account, General Qarshe emphasizes the critical and sacrificial role played by the people of Somaliland during this conflict. During the war, the proximity of Somaliland to the frontlines meant that the region bore the brunt of the conflict's devastation. The hospitals in Hargeisa were inundated with casualties, and the local population went to extraordinary lengths to assist the injured. General Qarshe recounts how Somalilanders, driven by a profound sense of Somali nationalism, not only provided medical care but also opened their homes to the wounded soldiers. He observed that the people of Somaliland demonstrated an unparalleled dedication to the cause of Somali unity, going so far as to sell their properties and livestock to support the war effort. He recalls that the civilians' cars were even repurposed for military use. In his emotional reflection, General Qarshe recalls a visit to a hospital in Hargeisa where he was moved to tears by the sight of how the injured soldiers were treated with more care and compassion than they had ever experienced in their own regions. This, he notes, was a testament to the genuine patriotism and sacrifice of the Somaliland people. Tragically, despite their immense sacrifice, the people of Somaliland faced horrific repercussions after the war's conclusion. Following the defeat of Somalia, the Somalilanders were subjected to brutal repression and violence. The very soldiers they had cared for and treated, as well as the airplanes used for the war effort, turned against them. The ensuing genocide led to the loss of over a quarter of a million Somaliland lives, illustrating the depth of animosity harbored by the Somali government towards Somaliland. Today, the people of Somaliland have learned from their harrowing experiences. They have become wary of deceptive appeals to "Somalism" and patriotic fervor that once led to their suffering. The lessons of the past have strengthened their resolve to protect their own interests and maintain their independence, ensuring that they are no longer deceived by false promises of unity and patriotism. Thatโ€™s why the people of Somaliland decided to reclaim their independence and today proudly have their own nation, The Republic of Somalilandโ€”a nation that wants nothing to do with Somalia. We have resolved never to share anything with Somalia again; we have learned our lesson well. BREAKING Now itโ€™s official by Israeli foreign ministry: Foreign Minister Gideon Saar today (Tuesday) paid his first official diplomatic visit to Hargeisa, the capital of Somaliland, at the invitation of the President of Somaliland. The visit was conducted discreetly according to the instructions of security officials and can now be officially announced. As stated, the visit was conducted at the invitation of Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, and during which Foreign Minister Saar held meetings with President Abdirahman and senior government officials, including Foreign Minister Abdirahman Dahir Adam, Minister of the Presidency Khader Hussein Abdi, and Chief of Staff Nimsan Yusuf Osman. Minister Saar held the meetings at the official presidential palace in Hargeisa. The meetings were also attended by Parliament Speaker Yassin Haji Mohamed and Senate Speaker Sullivan Mahmoud Aden. Saar was greeted at the airport by Somaliland's Foreign Minister. Somaliland President and Foreign Minister Saar issued statements. From Foreign Minister Gideon Saar: "On December 26, Israel and Somaliland signed a historic agreement for mutual recognition and the establishment of full diplomatic relations. We agreed to mutually appoint ambassadors and open embassies and will do so soon. We agreed to work together to advance relations between the countries, for the prosperity of both. We want to build a warm friendship not only between governments - but also between peoples: the Israeli people and the people of Somaliland. Since December 26, we have seen authentic joy in Somaliland, and also in Israel. We are excited to take part in the courageous journey of the people of Somaliland from independence to recognition. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working under my guidance to build relations in many areas: economy, water, agriculture and more. We will cooperate on security issues and open a strategic partnership between us. Unlike "Palestine" - Somaliland is not a virtual state. Somaliland is a functioning state in every way, according to the principles of international law. Somaliland has been and remains a stable democracy for nearly 35 years. It has democratic elections and an orderly change of government. It is pro-Western and friendly to Israel. It is a certificate of honor for us to be the first UN member state to recognize Somaliland as an independent and sovereign state. We hear the attacks, criticism and condemnations of Israel. No one will determine for Israel who to recognize and with whom to maintain diplomatic relations. We recognize the simple truth and the existing reality and hope to see more countries do the same soon. Somaliland deserves, and rightly so, a place among the nations. This is a natural connection between two democratic states, both located in challenging regions. In our meeting, I reiterated the invitation to Prime Minister Netanyahu to pay an official visit to Israel. We hope to host you in Jerusalem very soon. We are hopeful that these historic days and moments will mark the beginning of a deep friendship between the peoples for many years to come.โ€ *Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi has announced a visit to Israel soon and the opening of an embassy in the country.* Photo credit: Stills: Shlomi Amsalem, LPO

Iโ€™m honestly shocked by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamudโ€™s words. He claimed Somaliland wants recognition just because Britain once colonized it. That is false completely false. Mr. President, let me teach you something real. Somalilandโ€™s demand for independence isnโ€™t about colonial history, itโ€™s about justice, democracy, and dignity. The so-called 1960 Act of Union between Somaliland and Somalia was never properly ratified. Its validity has always been questionable, and Somaliland has every right to reclaim what was freely given and freely can be taken back. For more than 30 years, Somaliland has built something Somalia still struggles to achieve: a stable, democratic, and peaceful nation. Somaliland held five presidential elections, local council elections, and a constitutional referendum. Somaliland people elect their leaders through the will of the people not through clan deals or chaos. Somaliland has defended its land from terrorists, protected its shores from pirates, and stood tall on its own two feet while the world looked away. Somaliland people just want to breathe the air of freedom theyโ€™ve already earned. So, Mr. President of Somalia, how dare you belittle that? Do you even understand what โ€œunionโ€ means? Or do you think pretending to be a modern-day Abraham Lincoln will make the world believe your story? Tell us one thing youโ€™ve done that has truly changed your peopleโ€™s lives for the better. Just one. You canโ€™t , because there isnโ€™t one. Thatโ€™s exactly why Somaliland and its people will never give up their rightful path to reclaim their independence.

I was honored to be invited by the President of Somaliland to attend his inauguration on the 12th of December 2024. The event, which brought together hundreds of attendees, including diplomats, political leaders from neighboring countries, and citizens of Somaliland, was truly remarkable. The newly elected President's speech emphasized his commitment to dialogue and the importance of fostering social cohesion within Somaliland. I would like to share my experience in Somaliland, especially for those who have never visited 1. *Hargeisa:Hargeisaโ€™s Peace and Vibrancy* Hargeisa is a peaceful city where people go about their lives with focus and purpose. The city is bustling with commercial activities, and it is clear that the residents are optimistic about the future. During my visit, I witnessed a strong community spirit and a collective determination to transform the economy. 2. Somalilandโ€™s Investment Potentia l My visit to Berbera showcased the transformative power of investment. The development of Berbera Port by DP World has injected substantial capital into the region, making it one of the largest and most efficient ports in the Horn of Africa. The port handles millions of metric tonnes of goods and has completely revitalized the city, opening up vast economic opportunities. Opportunities for Local and International Investors Somaliland is primed for investment, not just from its diaspora but also from the international community. The region's strategic location and stability make it an ideal destination for business. 2. Untapped Regional Markets There is immense potential for investment in manufacturing, given the untapped markets in neighboring countries such as Ethiopia, Yemen, Eritrea, Djibouti, and Oman. With the right infrastructure, Somaliland can become a hub for trade and industry in the region. 4. Hospitality and Tourism Growth The people of Somaliland are incredibly hospitable, which creates opportunities for growth in the hospitality sector. Towns like Hargeisa have the potential to become international conference destinations, further boosting tourism and economic activity. Somaliland offers a unique blend of peace, opportunity, and optimism, making it an attractive destination for those seeking to explore its vast potential.

#historybooks_25_08_2023 The date shown in the video indicates that these are separatist militias from the Isaaq clan who call themselves Somaliland. This battle, which lasted three hours, ended in a defeat for the forces that these Somaliland militias used to boast about the so called Somaliland military forces. In the video, you can see Somaliland militia fighters being captured. Their number is 570 members. Also seized were about 270 combat vehicles (technicals) of various types, including vehicles and weapons. Those who achieved this victory were the forces of the North Eastern Administration of Somalia. They also took control of 55% of the territory that Somaliland previously claimed. Therefore, today the North Eastern Administration of Somalia, which has a well-trained and organized military, arenโ€™t they capable of liberating the territory formerly known as Northern Somalia? The correct answer is yes. Therefore, anyone who has been misled and says, we will recognize you, should understand that the Somaliland being referred to is the one you see in the video. This battle and the defeat suffered by Somaliland took place on 25/08/2023. It was an important date and the greatest defeat ever suffered by a military force in the Horn of Africa. Embarrassment never ends with these people humiliating themselves on the world stage at every single opportunity. An Al Jazeera journalist asked Somaliaโ€™s State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ali Balcad, a very clear and direct question about Somalilandโ€™s claims: that Somaliland is more developed, more stable, and has stronger democratic institutions, governance, and systems than Somalia. The question was simple: How do you respond to these claims? Instead of answering any of those points, the minister responded with this: โ€œSomaliland is a British-colonised region consisting of three regions. Isaaq is a tribe in the middle, 40% of the population. The west and the east want Somalia. Somalia has 400 clans.โ€ Not a single sentence addressed the actual question. No answer about: development, stability, democracy, institutions and governance Nothing. Regardless of your view on Somaliland, or whether a country is big or small, internally divided or cohesive, large in number or limited in size, or where it is located, the question was straightforward: ๐Ÿ‘‰ Is Somaliland better than Somalia in these areas, or not? What the minister delivered instead was a baseless demographic rant that neither answers the question nor defends Somaliaโ€™s position. It only confused the journalist and embarrassed the audience. Worse, his response ignored reality and well-documented facts on the ground, exposing a clear incapacity to comprehend the political situation he is supposed to represent. Letโ€™s correct a few false narratives he pushed: - โ€œSomaliland is three regionsโ€ False. At no point under the British Protectorate, the Somali Republic, or Somaliland has Somaliland ever been a โ€œthree-regionโ€ entity. Historically and legally, Somaliland has always consisted of six districts inherited from the British, with full constitutional control over five, and partial presence in one Laascaanood district. - Demographics misrepresented. Isaaq communities exist in five out of the six districts, not โ€œin the middle.โ€ Somaliland exercises territorial control over more than 89% of its claimed territory, and Isaaq constitute well over 40% of the total population. But hereโ€™s the key point none of this was even asked. The question was not about tribes, not about clan arithmetic, and not about population distribution. The Somaliland case rests on legitimacy, history, inherited borders, and compliance with international norms, alongside the practical reality of a functioning state with elections, institutions, and governance all features of modern statehood. The journalist asked about state performance and governance. The minister replied with tribal talking points. That alone tells you everything. When a foreign minister cannot distinguish between statehood and clanism, between governance and genealogy, the embarrassment is not accidental it is structural. And unfortunately, it is broadcast live to the world.

You know the old saying: โ€œA wounded lion is more dangerous than a healthy one.โ€ After somaliland big defeat in Goojacade, Sool in 2023 and several other losses over the past three years, Somaliland has realized they cannot win a military fight against the unionist forces in Sool (north west Somalia) So now they have switched tactics. They are setting traps and plotting against Somali people both inside Somalia and around the world especially in Mogadishu and other major cities like lasanod. They are working with countries & right wing that are against Somalia to turn international opinion against the Somalis. Inside Somalia, they are doing the same thing. Since their defeat in Sool, Mogadishu has become much safer. Al Shabaab has also lost a lot of its power there because many of its top leaders are from Somaliland. Now, Somalilanders are stirring up trouble in Mogadishu. They are using money to bribe half Isaaq/ Hawiye, Darood, and Dir youth in order words youth from issaq mothers to create violence and fights between peaceful communities like we saw in sanaag and sool. Stories like public harassment of girl in stadium which happened in Mogadishu last week, the perpetrators were paid to do that crime in public which was part of their propaganda against Somalia and to further promote their case in western world as being the good Somalis. All Somalis both inside the country and in the diaspora need to stay alert and watch out for these plots and traps.

A genocidal war against the people of Somaliland, and the Isaaq clan in particular, was allowed to be waged from the heart of America by defeated remnants of the Barre regime. Using money stolen from taxpayers, they waged a brutal war for nine months, funded primarily from Ohio, Minnesota, and Maine. After declaring jihad in March from the Minnesota State Capitol, they celebrated their August 2023 victory with a City of St. Paul declaration recognizing that conflict and its outcome โ€” a full six months before the โ€œgovernmentโ€ in Mogadishu did the same. Every Somalian politician took part in this. Ilhan Omar, who was privy to confidential information concerning United States interest in a joint military exercise in Berbera, Somaliland, and a potential future base deal (Tim Burchett), subsequently, on December 21, 2022, hurriedly took that information to her homeland of Somalia, arriving first in Garowe and then Mogadishu to notify them of the urgency. A few days later, on December 31, 2022, a Somaliland opposition politician was assassinated in the town of Las Anod, which triggered a premeditated uprising and the start of the conflict. A few days after that, Ahmed Hirsi, Ilhan Omarโ€™s former husband, and Ali Isse, District Deputy Director for Ilhan Omar, attended a fundraiser for the conflict. In March 2023, a protest took place in which calls for jihad, weapons, and financing rang out from the center of the Minnesota State House. In an August 2023 campaign rally in Ward 6, Jamal Osman celebrated the forced withdrawal of Somalilandโ€™s army who capitulated to the threats made by the state department. The capture of a Somaliland base Goojacade by the clan militia and their Somalian government allies, was celebrated at the Minneapolis rally with cheers that โ€œGreater Somalia is nextโ€ and โ€œLong live Somalia!โ€ The Biden administration not only looked the other way; it warned and threatened the people of Somaliland with repercussions if they did not allow the militias space to regroup. Conflicts launched from the United States that have devastating repercussions on people who endured a genocide and built a peaceful existence are not right and should be investigated to ensure they never happen again. *Video below is the March 2023 Minnesota state Capitol rally

A THREAD 1/2 The secessionist narrative that Somaliland was a state in 1960 is false โ€” the historical record is clear. โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€” One of the most widely propagated yet concocted narratives promoted by secessionists in northern Somalia is the claim that two sovereign statesโ€” Somalia and Somaliland โ€” were created in 1960, and that one of them was later โ€œlostโ€ or โ€œgiven away.โ€ This is false. Completely false. The historical record showsโ€”clearly, repeatedly, and contemporaneouslyโ€”that only one state was intended, negotiated, and established, and that state was the Somali Republic. From Hargeisa to Mogadishu, from London to New York (including the UN), the destination was stated consistently and explicitly: the creation of the Somali Republic on 1 July 1960. More importantly, the people and leaders of northern Somalia were active architects of the Somali Republic. Crucially, they neither intended nor worked toward the creation of a separate Somaliland stateโ€” despite the persistent misinformation now circulated by secessionist actors. So pervasive has this disinformation become that, only days ago, even unionist politicians in Mogadishuโ€”some of whom hail from northern regionsโ€”repeated this claim as fact. What follows are nine hard proofs, drawn from primary documents and contemporaneous practice, demonstrating that no Somaliland state was created or โ€œlost.โ€ In 1960, everyone in Hargeisa was working toward the creation of one state: the Somali Republic. 1) Colonial labels were not states โ€œBritish Somaliland,โ€ โ€œItalian Somaliland,โ€ โ€œFrench Somaliland,โ€ the NFD, and the Ogaden were imperial administrative labelsโ€”not sovereign national projects. Across Somali territories in the late 1950s, the dominant political current was pan-Somali nationalism and decolonization, not fragmentation. 2) British Somaliland was a protectorate, not a state Under British law, Somaliland existed through protection treaties with Somali clans (1884โ€“1886). Britainโ€™s legal obligations were therefore to communities, not to a pre-existing sovereign โ€œSomaliland state.โ€ This mattered because protection could end only through a transition agreed by those communitiesโ€”and that transition was explicitly tied to independence followed by union. 3) Northern Somalis worked toward the Somali Republicโ€”amply documented In April 1960, the elected Legislative Council in Hargeisaโ€”the highest political authority under British ruleโ€”passed a resolution calling explicitly for independence and unification with Somalia on 1 July 1960. This is recorded in Hansard. There is no ambiguity. 4) The April 1960 Joint Communiquรฉ removes all doubt Between 16โ€“22 April 1960, senior Somaliland legislators traveled to Mogadishu and issued a Joint Communiquรฉ with their southern counterparts calling for the creation of a republic on 1 July 1960. It states: โ€œThe Territories of Somalia and the Somaliland Protectorate shall be united on July 1st, 1960โ€ฆ The new Somali Republic will be a unitary, democratic and parliamentary State.โ€ It further ordered the merger of the two legislatures into one National Assembly, the election of one President, the formation of one government, the designation of Mogadishu as the capital, and the creation of one national army. This is not the language of two states; it is the blueprint of one republic. 5) London understood the objective was union, not separation In the UK Parliament, the Prime Minister and the Colonial Secretary stated plainly that independence would be granted to the protected tribes of northern Somalia so that union could lawfully take place, acting on the โ€œdeclared wishesโ€ of Somalilandโ€™s elected leaders. Somalilandโ€™s โ€œindependenceโ€ was a legal bridgeโ€”not the destination. 6) Contemporary media reported union On 6 May 1960, The New York Times reported that Britain would grant independence to Somaliland โ€œso that it could unite with Somalia.โ€ No contemporary account described this as the birth of a separate enduring state.

Unmasking the Web of Terror: How a Somaliland Politician Allegedly Fueled ISIS Radicalization and Destabilization Across the Horn of Africa Faysal Ali Warabe, leader of the UCID party, is the father of Hussein Faysal Ali Warabe, also known as Abu Shuaib As-Somali, who was a key member and commander of #ISIS in Syria. Faysal Ali Warabe is also a close ally of the current President of Somaliland, Abdirahman Irro. Hussein joined ISIS in 2013 and oversaw or facilitated the recruitment of thousands of Somalilanders, including those living in Hargeisa and within the diaspora, into ISIS. Hussein eventually died in a U.S. airstrike on an ISIS base in Raqqa, Syria, on January 13, 2018. For five years, he was responsible for the radicalization of thousands of Somalilanders, indoctrinating them with extremist ideologies. These recruits were trained in Syria and then deployed to southern Somalia and Puntland to propagate extremist ideologies. This activity was allegedly supported by the Somaliland government to destabilize the region and advance Somalilandโ€™s independence campaign by tarnishing the rest of the Horn of Africa with terrorism. The close link between ISIS, Faysal Ali Warabe, and Abdirahman Irro is evident. Ninety-eight percent of ISIS fighters in Puntland are either of Somaliland origin or foreign fighters from the Middle East and neighboring African countries. However, the leadership of this terrorist organization is predominantly native to Puntland. This is because they regard Abdulqadir Mumin, the current leader of ISIS, as their Amir, Maulana, or โ€œMasterโ€ due to his lineage from the Majerteen clan, a sub-clan of the Darood, an Arab Qurayshi Banu Hashim tribe in the Horn of Africa that is part of the Ahlu Bayt. Both Somalilanders and foreign jihadists believe in the Banu Hashimโ€™s divine right to rule. As Abdulqadir Mumin hails from the Majerteen clan, this gives him the perceived legitimacy to serve as their leader. This belief motivates jihadists to travel to Puntland to pledge allegiance (Bayโ€™ah) to Abdulqadir Mumin and sacrifice their wealth and lives for their cause. It has been observed that those carrying out suicide bombings in Puntland are either foreign jihadists or Isaaq jihadists. Puntland must confront Somalilandโ€™s aggression once it has successfully eliminated the ISIS presence in the mountainous regions of Bari. #PuntExit #Somaliland #ISIS #AlShabab #ISIL #Trump #endwoke

The world has waited long enough. Somaliland must be recognized as an independent nation now - not next year, not after more diplomatic delays. Every day that passes gives more power to authoritarian regimes looking to control one of the most important regions on Earth. Letโ€™s be clear: Somalia is a failed state. Its government doesnโ€™t fight terrorism effectively, canโ€™t protect its own people, and has a terrible human rights record. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has shown again and again that he is not a leader, but a threat to stability. Despite this, the international community continues to act as if Somalia is in control - when it clearly is not. In contrast, Somaliland is functioning like a real country. It holds free elections, keeps order, and runs its institutions - all without help from the global powers. Its people have built a working democracy, and yet they are ignored by the West. Now Somalia is making false claims over Somalilandโ€™s key infrastructure - like Berbera Port and Berbera Airport โ€” trying to take control of what doesnโ€™t belong to them. This is nothing more than a power grab, using the same bullying tactics we see from Putin. Somalia wants to crush Somalilandโ€™s independence, even though it canโ€™t manage its own territory. And what does the world do? Nothing. It stands by, frozen, while aggressors move in. Russia, China, and Iran are not waiting. Theyโ€™re watching this power vacuum and moving fast to expand their influence. They want control of key trade routes, ports, and governments - and if the West doesnโ€™t act, they will succeed. Somaliland is the frontline - not just geographically, but politically. It stands between democracy and dictatorship. Berbera Port matters. It sits right at the entrance to the Gulf of Aden and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait - where nearly 12% of all global trade passes through. If Iranโ€™s militias or Chinaโ€™s navy gain a foothold there, it would be a disaster for global trade and security. The EU and its allies must step up. This is about more than loyalty to a democratic partner - itโ€™s about protecting our own interests. Recognizing Somaliland gives us a trusted ally, access to key intelligence, and a stable partner in a region where the West is losing ground. It would send a clear message: we stand with democracy, not chaos. Somalia, meanwhile, is collapsing. More than half its population lives in poverty, and its government does little to help. Somalia ranks last in Africa on the Human Development Index. Thatโ€™s not just a number - itโ€™s a failure of leadership. So why is the world still pretending Somalia should speak for Somaliland? Somaliland is already a nation in everything but name. It governs, it protects, and it builds. The only thing missing is the worldโ€™s recognition. Refusing to acknowledge Somaliland doesnโ€™t just insult its people - it empowers pirates, warlords, and hostile regimes. The West is running out of time. Iran is turning Yemen into a weapons base. China is expanding its reach. Ships are being harassed in the Red Sea. The signs couldnโ€™t be clearer. To ignore Somaliland is to invite chaos. To recognize it is to support peace, democracy, and a more secure future. The choice is obvious. The time is now.
