The math checks out, but in markets where there is real competition between insurers they need to worry about customers leaving to cheaper alternatives. HMO competition dramatically lowered price growth in the 90s until regulators and public opinion beat them back. Then with the ACA new competition and an improved individual market slowed price growth again. Hospital system monopoly/oligopoly is a bigger problem these days.
