Itโ€™s a beautiful morning here in Farrer as voting starts. The Coalition is going to lose its seat in Farrer this weekend for the first time since its inception in 1949. Farrer is indicative of whatโ€™s happening across the country as people turn their back on the Coalition. The reasons are varied but itโ€™s worth mentioning one of the main factors and that is the Coalition turned its back on its own members by refusing to let them preselect their representatives. Farrer was a good example of this. Local branch members of the Liberal Party had wanted to get rid of Sussan Ley for years, yet were constantly denied the right to do so by head office in Sydney who wanted to control politicians to ensure none of them stepped out of line. Those who did, like myself were removed. Head office did this because they were controlled by their major donars who were driven by self interest rather than the best interests of the people. I.e. big pharma, super funds and banks. The Liberal branch of Farrer has lost nearly all of its members as a result with many moving to minor parties. Itโ€™s a valuable lesson in what people power can do if it can organise itself. And itโ€™s a valuable lesson to the establishment that they canโ€™t get away with ignoring the people forever. As the old saying goes - you can fool some of the people some of the time, but you canโ€™t fool all of the people all of the time. Itโ€™s also a valuable lesson to the people - the world is run by those who turn up. If you want to have a say in running it then please consider signing up today at

Fascinating chat! ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ โ€œThe ANC had the power, and it still has the power, to come up with economic policy that benefits everybody but, as I pointed out, through things like Black Economic Empowerment, a lot of its leaders have been co-opted, to just leave things as they are.โ€ โ€œThese guys who are in these BEE schemesโ€ฆThatโ€™s one of the main drivers of this corruptionโ€ฆ these BEE schemes. [But] for big business โ€” as long as you donโ€™t touch my business โ€” when you steal, actually, a lot of this corruption is stealing taxpayersโ€™ money.โ€ โ€œthey (big business) chose black leadersโ€ฆ These guys set up Black Economic Empowerment. Many people naively think that Black Economic Empowerment is there to advance Black people. Actually, itโ€™s there to do the opposite.โ€ โ€œLetโ€™s take one step Back. The wealth of S Africa was largely created by Black South Africans. First, they own the land. So it was their land. It was taken from them; and the minerals under the land were also taken from themโ€ฆ They became the workers to build the mines. So, in real terms, the profits and the capital belongs to them as well. So, when weโ€™re talking about capital in S Africa, itโ€™s actually a national asset. [But] people think itโ€™s a white man this, white man thatโ€ฆ When you start to look at who owns these big companies in South Africaโ€ฆ Many people naively think that the white managers own them (big companies). They donโ€™t. Actually, a big part of some of these companies are owned by the Black people through their pension funds, their medical aid, their savingsโ€ฆ but they donโ€™t understandโ€ฆ how to get the profits and have a say in how these companies are managed. They just give it to fund managersโ€ฆ You are actually a co-owner of Anglo Americanโ€ฆ If you donโ€™t ask, they wonโ€™t tellโ€ฆ Your money, your savings are in Sanlam, in Old Mutual. You are a co-owner of this. So we have to be careful about who owns the wealth of S Africa. A lot of the wealth of South Africa is actually owned by Black peopleโ€ฆ but they are not in insisting thatโ€ฆโ€ โ€œBlack people in South Africa have a lot of powerโ€ฆ but they donโ€™t quite know how to use their power and, of course, the other side is not gonna tell youโ€ฆ They say, leave it to us, we will invest the money and, now and then, pay your pension, or whatever it is; the profits that comeโ€ฆ Thatโ€™s what our trade unions were supposed to do - One of the things they were supposed to do. In fact, when I was at COSATU, I suggested that they set up a bank of their own COSATU (Bank), because COSATU then had 1.8 million membersโ€ฆ paying, every week (dues). I said letโ€™s setup a commercial bank, which will finance black entrepreneurs, which will finance housing for our members, who were living in the shanty townsโ€ฆ but I was overruledโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ–‡๏ธ

I want to put it on the record that I am not the only one saying public infrastructure has collapsed due to corruption in Zimbabweโ€™s government. Meet Justice Loice Matanda-Moyo. She is a Zimbabwean judge, former head of the Zimbabwean Anti-Corruption Commission, and is currently the head of Zimbabweโ€™s National Prosecution Service. Here, she says Zimbabwe is in trouble because of corruption. She states that it remains one of the major barriers preventing Zimbabwe from succeeding as an economy and is causing its public infrastructure to deteriorate. Justice Loice Matanda-Moyo specifically mentions the collapse of public health and schools and points out that corruption is the root cause. She goes on to say that government figures estimate the loss of revenue due to corruption at US$1.8 billion. We know that it is more but let us work with the governmentโ€™s own figure of US$1.8 billion. All of Zimbabweโ€™s central/referral hospitals need only US$60 million a year to run smoothly without any shortages. US$1.8 billion could run Zimbabweโ€™s central hospitals for thirty years. US$1.8 billion could build 1,800 kilometres of tarred road from scratch. Out of Zimbabweโ€™s six central hospitals, five were built by the colonial governments. The only central hospital built by ZANUPF is Chitungwiza, which was an upgrade. US$1.8 billion could build seven central hospitals like Parirenyatwa or Sally Mugabe Hospital with a capacity of 1,800 beds. South Africa is building Tygerberg Central Hospital in the Western Cape for US$260 million. It is way advanced than Zimbabwean hospitals which were built over decades ago. Sally Mugabe Hospital is 117 years old, Parirenyatwa is 72 years old, Mpilo Hospital is 82 years old, UBH is 85 years old, and Ingutsheni is 117 years old. Chitungwiza is 42 years old; it was upgraded to a central hospital 18 years ago. These are Zimbabweโ€™s central/referral hospitals. ZANUPF has never built a single central hospital from the ground, it only upgraded Chitungwiza. This is what corruption has done to Zimbabwe in the words of Justice Loice Matanda-Moyo who heads Zimbabweโ€™s National Prosecution Service and is the former head of the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission and was also a High Court Judge.
