The past year has seen me have a renaissance, in the truest senseโ€ฆ I wonโ€™t go into details now but will at some point before long. What has brought so much happiness to my life and those around me this past year has been my falling back in love with sport. Cycling has, and always will be, my number one. Yet Iโ€™d forgotten that I simply love sport, not for results but for the sheer joy of doing it, Iโ€™d completely forgotten that the health of my mind is intrinsically connected to the health of my body. Iโ€™ve rediscovered the love I had for sport that existed before the world of professional cycling took over in the way it did. Iโ€™ve been pushing myself and trying new things this past year, indifferent to the results, just out having fun and at times going deeper than I thought I was capable of anymore. Last week I got on a TT bike for the first time in a decade, Factor Bikes built me a bike, Iโ€™ve been looking at it for two years and decided it was time to get fitted, getting back on it felt like going home. Anyway, the long and the short of this is that itโ€™s inspired me to create a club to inspire and be inspired. A community for us to share our love for getting out there and doing it, because Iโ€™ve realized that although I spend most of my sporting life on my own I derive the most pleasure when feeling part of something. Itโ€™s in its early days, Iโ€™ve called it Sporting Club CHPT3 aka SCC3, Iโ€™d love you to check it out and join. Itโ€™s still in its infancy, but I hope itโ€™s going to grow into something that will inspire you as much as me.

There's something about design that truly makes me happy. Before I was diagnosed with a complete SCI, I loved building thing with my hands and trying to make them unique and beautiful. The accident didn't just take my mobility, it robbed me of my creative drive. I didn't I would ever get that back that was up until Neuralink came into the picture. I was very serious about applying but just couldn't bring myself to do it. Then Noland Arbaugh comes into the picture and I see his video and I saw how passionate he was toward the whole ide and that was like a switch. I want to thank Noland because if I hadn't seen that video I wouldn't be typing this message with my thoughts. So the day I gained control of the device I had the guys install Autodesk Fusion and the first night I had my first part designed by BCI. I have been designing things non-stop since. Now lets talk tools and the first one is the ArcDroid it is a CNC robot that holds a plasma torch and can cut profiles in sheet metal. I have made numerous signs, letters and parts with this and i love it. I have also had the chance to help the local high school install and setup their CNC plasma table. I love being able to share my knowledge with others and show new technology to kids that want to learn. The next one everybody is more familiar with is the Bambu Lab X1C. It is my first 3D printer and I had no idea how dang handy these things were! I can go from thought, Neuralink, Fusion, X1C and poof! You have your part all in a matter of like a hour. I make everything from parts for my wheelchair or RC โœˆ to toys for my nephew. These devices have completely changed my life. I now have my creative outlet back and I'm not done looking for new things to try. I'm thinking a laser next!!!๐Ÿ˜Ž Thank you Elon Musk for the opportunity to showcase my skills, I'm extremely grateful๐Ÿ™

We said goodbye to our beloved Odom last night as it was his time to go. To say I am devastated would be an understatement because that dog has saved my life more times than I could even begin to fathom. To be with him at the end of his amazing life was an honor I do not take for granted. Most of my days and routines over the last few years were centered around him and ensuring that he received what he needed. Whether it was receiving insulin for his diabetes at the same times every day or planning walks and meals to accommodate what worked best for him, my schedule revolved around what he needed. To some, this might seem like a nuisance. For me, it made me better. I made his routines my routines. Walking him twice a day gave me time to reflect and appreciate all of the good in my life. Planning time for his exercise ensured I did the same for myself. Being immediately anchored by his weight on a walk because he wanted to appreciate something he had noticed taught me to slow down and take in moments in a way I wasnโ€™t used to. His routine was my routine, and it made me better. When I first saw him at the Edmonton Humane Society Society, I wasnโ€™t ready for a dog. My brother Alec was there, and he saw me with Odom, and he knew that I was in love immediately. I didnโ€™t find Odom, but Odom found me. I left, not taking him home and immediately knew it was a mistake, and that he was meant to be in my life. I went to the Edmonton Humane Society the next day, 30 minutes before it opened, to ensure that I would be the first person to go through the doors. I headed straight for where Odom was, and he came home with me that day. With all of the ups and downs I have had in my life since, my love and pride in that dog were a constant. I am terribly sad, and I am taking solace in this quote from Andrew Garfield on grief: โ€œThis is all the unexpressed love, the grief that will remain with us until we pass because we never get enough time with each other, no matter if someone lives till 60, 15, or 99.โ€ I love that dog because that dog loved me. Bye Odomโ€ฆYou will always be my best friend.
