This Tuesday's strategic engagement with industry stakeholders in the ICTPCS sector was a dialogue centred on our progress in 2025 and the path forward for Zimbabwe’s digital transformation under NDS2 (2026–2030) and Vision 2030 this 2026. 2025 Milestones presented included the completion of the National AI Strategy and National Cybersecurity Strategy, strengthening our digital governance framework. Significant expansion of digital inclusion initiatives: the Presidential Internet Scheme, Telemedicine Project, Digital Skills Ambassadors Programme, and Community Digital Centres. Notable sector growth, including 14.5% increase in ICT investment and high mobile and Internet penetration. A continued focus on digital skills development, inclusivity, and public-private partnerships as critical drivers towards a fully digital economy by 2030. Stakeholder feedback highlighted the following critical challenges High data costs a major barrier to digital inclusion and adoption. Infrastructure gaps, particularly in rural and underserved communities. Slow progress in local ICT hardware manufacturing (e.g., laptops), affecting affordability, skills development, and industrialisation. We just launched Sites into Codex! Software creation was always about more than writing code. Sites in Codex fundamentally gives the power of end-to-end software creation to every user, no matter their technical fluency. These Sites are fully deployed to a URL, private to workspaces, come with authentication, can have static files, and can store dynamic data in databases. It is in preview for business and enterprise teams and will be rolling out to all workspaces over the next day. Give it a try by typing @ Sites into Codex and ask it to build anything! This project took a massive amount of effort across hundreds of people at OpenAI - proud that we were able to get this out and excited to see what you all build with it!

Since 2014, the ISIS Prisons Museum has undertaken a meticulous process of documenting the mass graves left behind by ISIS following the Shaitat massacre in rural Deir ez-Zor.This documentation is based on survivor testimonies, accounts from victims' families, and visual materials that chronicle one of the largest mass killings in Syria. In parallel, the museum has developed an extensive database identifying grave sites discovered between 2014 and 2020, while gathering data on the victims and their identities. They must come together to gain strength, especially those in the diaspora. What stops Zimbabweans from building communities that are financially, politically, and socially powerful? If that does not happen, this cycle of humiliation will only continue, and it will intensify as South Africa heads towards the local government elections in 2026. It will get worse, more degrading than what we are seeing in this video. We must also remember that the Zimbabwean government does not care. In a normal country, with normal leaders elected by the people, such a video would trouble the leadership. They would act to protect their citizens. But not under Emmerson Mnangagwa. He does not give two hoots. It is up to Zimbabweans themselves to unite, to fight back, and to reclaim control of their country. Only then will the humiliation end, and only then will Zimbabweans restore dignity at home and abroad.

However the chilling statement by General Sanyatwe is not new in Zimbabwe, the army has always been used as a wing of the corrupt ZANUPF party. When he says "Command Voting," what he is referring to is basically a military backed sham election where the votes of Zimbabweans are ignored in favor of predetermined results. It is a method of staying in power that relies on brute force and the complete disregard for democratic principles.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has invited social media personality Dr David Nhunzva to report to the CID Law and Order unit to assist with investigations into alleged AI-generated content said to have damaged the image of the police. In a statement issued on 25 December 2025, the ZRP said Dr Nhunzva is being investigated for allegedly creating and circulating AI-generated videos that misrepresented the police. The police said the matter falls under the Cyber and Data Protection Act, Chapter 12:07, which criminalises the creation, distribution or publication of false or misleading information on digital platforms. “The ZRP reminds the public that the Cyber and Data Protection Act, Ch 12:07, criminalises creating, distributing or publishing false or misleading information on digital platforms,” the statement said. The police added that this includes “circulating deepfake videos, fabricated news, misleading claims, using digital platforms to humiliate, threaten or demean individuals or institutions and producing or sharing AI-generated content that misrepresents reality.” The police said it is in Dr Nhunzva’s interest to cooperate with investigators and report to CID Law and Order. The ZRP also warned that it “will not tolerate the misuse of digital technologies to mislead the public, harm reputations or undermine trust in national institutions.”
