Spent a long weekend with a group of folks in the mountains of Switzerland. All top people in their fields: a senior position in investment banking, CFO of a bank, serial acquirers, PE investors, etc. Some of the obvious observations: 1. Everyone’s busy, grinding, working hard to get things done, to take care of their family. 2. Almost all guys work long hours, be it Friday, Saturday, or Sunday; most folks had their phones on, getting some work done at any given time. 3. Everyone’s normal people - it really comes down to having abnormal goals, desires, and the willingness to do what is necessary to accomplish all that. When you hear folks in their late 30s, 40s, and 50s building and operating roll-up companies that are doing hundreds of millions in EBITDA, in niches you do not even know exist, it’s pretty special. Shows you the importance of focus and mastering your craft. All the 72 hours we spent together was great proof that more events like this need to happen. Going from online to offline, getting out from the day-to-day. Having various short and long interactions with people in different industries... Be it while on the lift coming up from the slope, during a coffee break, dinner, after dinner, 2-3 hour conversations, long walks, and overall brainstorming. Again, very special.

Karoline Leavitt closed her time as White House press secretary the way a lot of people would hope to leave a demanding job: proudly standing at the podium with her husband and their two little ones. GPT-5.5 is MUCH more reliable on longer running tasks - for the first time with any model. As we speak I have a migration running for over 7+ hours - this literally never happened before, the models would maybe run for 30 mins or of you really shout at them for 2-3 hours. Last night I went to sleep, set a long running task, then queued up 10 prompts to 'keep it going'. It did not stop after the first prompt and kept going for 8+ hours and I woke up to all the same prompts still queued up. The ability to run for a long time, in combination with ability to validate with computer use & other tools, makes it much more useful for building real applications.

Seems like a good time to post this again for all the new people just now looking into the #KarenRead case thanks to the McAlberts and Tim Pool - Backing out of 34 Fairview Road just as they did in the early morning hours of 1/29/22 to go home and somehow they just didn’t see their 220lb “friend” dying on the lawn… The McAlberts will tell you “we weren’t looking at the ground” or some bullshit story about how they sat in the car and faced each other to have a conversation. Or “he was covered in snow!” 🙄 Lies. The commonwealth’s expert weatherman testified there was only “enough snow to track a cat” at midnight. The only reason no one saw John O’Keefe lying on the lawn in those early morning hours, including the plow driver who drove by multiple times, is because he wasn’t on the lawn yet. As ferry pilots, we often fly 20-25 hours across long distances and frequently need to service the engine oil enroute. Especially so with the more tired engines. Turbine oil comes in cans, and since we have to go through security to get to a job, we don’t have tools. Fortunately the on-board crash axe is the PERFECT tool for the job. If you put one finger over the top hole, and move swiftly and smoothly into position and then release your finger - you can pretty easily hit the filler tube with little to no spillage 👍🏼 Unfortunately it’s not possible to do while also filming, so you’ll see no evidence of my (ahem) “perfect pour”

Every day, Russia can make a choice and end its war. And not for a few hours in order to receive our permission to hold a parade in Moscow, but in a way that protects human lives. People must be valued, not parades. There is a need to establish peace, rather than running around the world’s capitals begging for a pause on May 9. We need peace. Another Wildberries warehouse in Russia has reportedly been struck by Ukrainian drones, this time at the company's facility in Koledino, Moscow Oblast, in an attack that occurred within the past several hours. The strike comes as Ukraine has conducted a sustained campaign against Wildberries' logistics network. Reuters previously assessed that more than 20% of the company's nationwide warehouse capacity, approximately 1.18 million square meters, had been damaged or destroyed in attacks since mid-July. Absolute nonsense! 🤨 Just heard this LBC caller Barry claiming that as a nearly 50-year-old black man, people still cross the road and clutch their handbags whenever they see him walking towards them, holding it up as proof of everyday racism in Britain. Barry on LBC: “I’m a black man, and when I walk down the street, it doesn’t matter that I’m almost 50 years old, people will still cross the road. People still cross the road. They will still grab their handbags. I ask the question, are they being careful or are they being prejudiced?” No, Barry. That is not the everyday reality of Britain in 2026. Most people do not clutch their handbags or dart across the road at the sight of a middle-aged black man. Treating this as the normal experience of black men in this country is just not true. Britain is one of the most tolerant, welcoming, and least racist countries on Earth. We take in more people from every background than almost anywhere else, and the vast majority of us live and work together without drama. There are racists in every society, that will never fully disappear, but painting the average person on a British street as constantly prejudiced against black men is a tired exaggeration. Stop trying to make this country sound like some extreme racist dystopia. It isn’t.
