Some stories are too painful to watch. But this one? It was too painful to write. Omoshalewa was in law school when her life was first interrupted in 2014. What started as a sharp stomach pain quickly turned into an ovarian cyst and a hospital that left her on a bench, unattended for hours. Since then, she’s had 14 surgeries. Fourteen. Each one promised relief. Each one offered a bit of hope. But the pain always came back stronger, stranger, harder to name. By 2021, she was being injected with Kenalog-40 daily which led to her skin changing and her memory declining. Later on, she found out that she had Cushing’s Syndrome: A result of long-term steroid overuse. She passed out in her sleep, choked on saliva and developed necrosis in both hips. But through it all? She kept working, asking questions and more. What struck me most wasn’t just the trauma. It was how often she was dismissed, told to pray more and told that her symptoms were imaginary. Omoshalewa’s story is not rare. That’s the part that should scare us. Because beneath the medical errors and systemic failures… Is a young woman who just wanted to breathe without pain. We talk about reform. But real reform starts with respect. With humility. With care that doesn’t punish people for surviving. Dealing with their situationship was frustrating for me, but I’m glad it didn’t end on a toxic note. They all had their experiences with love, getting hurt, breaking hearts, and facing tension and drama, but it all felt genuine. It was annoying for me, really, possibly because I’ve had similar experiences. It’s human to feel this way. Love is complicated, and when young people fall in love, they make mistakes, learning lessons with each experience at different stages of their lives. Macross is about love and the challenges people from diverse backgrounds face when they fall in love. It’s about culture and the beauty it holds, how culture unites us all and how opening our hearts and arms to one another paves the way for peace and harmony. It’s a simple and optimistic story, but I enjoyed it. I can’t wait to see what’s next! I still need to finish the movie version, though.

After watching this story, I honestly can’t look at Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma the same way again… Sometimes what we see as anger, bitterness, or even xenophobia is rooted in deep personal experiences, trauma, and unresolved pain. Who knows maybe Ngizwe Mcunu has some connection with Mozambique or Nigeria... Let's wait till he opens up 😩😭 When someone grows up around deception, instability, or hurt tied to a certain group, it can shape how they see the world, not always correctly, but understandably. This is not to justify harmful behavior, but to understand where it comes from. Jacinta Ngobese🇿🇦 I hear you. Your story explains a lot, and for that I genuinely apologize for judging without context. But sisi am, pain shouldn’t be passed on to others who had nothing to do with it. Richard Donner on why he made 'Superman' (1978) & the movie's connection to François Truffaut's 'Jules & Jim' (1962): "I certainly didn’t know it when we were making 'Superman' (1978) [that it would have a profound impact on millions of people around the world]. I was just trying to make the best movie I could make. I think it was during the first showing I attended — not the opening, but a regular screening in a theater, in New York. I watched the audience experience that movie and I was very moved, very excited. Before I came on board, the script was kind of a parody of a parody, It had been really well written by three or four really good writers, but they had been directed by a couple of Hungarians [producers Alexander and Ilya Salkind] who saw it as a comic book rather than a piece of history. Their script didn’t have any respect for what the character stood for, since I was a little kid. Tom Mankiewicz and I had known each other for years, and we’d always talked about working together, so I presented him with the problem, I asked him to bring a sense of reality, or verisimilitude, to the story. I wanted to be able to prove that a man could fly. Tom rewrote the entire script. Years before, there had been a French film called 'Jules and Jim' (1962, Truffaut), a great film. Two guys fall in love with the same woman. That’s what Superman was: two guys in love with the same woman. It happened to be that the two guys were the same guy, but not in the woman’s eyes. I asked Tom ‘How do we make that into a love story?’ He just fell right into it." I was trying to let the audience know that they were not looking at a comic book, or what had been done with Superman over the ages. This was the true story of Superman. In my eyes, when I was a kid, he was real. And he was in Tom’s eyes, too. We decided that’s the way we wanted the movie to be." (Richard Donner's interview with Michael P Coleman, 2020)

Richard Donner on why he made 'Superman' (1978) & the movie's connection to François Truffaut's 'Jules & Jim' (1962): "I certainly didn’t know it when we were making 'Superman' (1978) [that it would have a profound impact on millions of people around the world]. I was just trying to make the best movie I could make. I think it was during the first showing I attended — not the opening, but a regular screening in a theater, in New York. I watched the audience experience that movie and I was very moved, very excited. Before I came on board, the script was kind of a parody of a parody, It had been really well written by three or four really good writers, but they had been directed by a couple of Hungarians [producers Alexander and Ilya Salkind] who saw it as a comic book rather than a piece of history. Their script didn’t have any respect for what the character stood for, since I was a little kid. Tom Mankiewicz and I had known each other for years, and we’d always talked about working together, so I presented him with the problem, I asked him to bring a sense of reality, or verisimilitude, to the story. I wanted to be able to prove that a man could fly. Tom rewrote the entire script. Years before, there had been a French film called 'Jules and Jim' (1962, Truffaut), a great film. Two guys fall in love with the same woman. That’s what Superman was: two guys in love with the same woman. It happened to be that the two guys were the same guy, but not in the woman’s eyes. I asked Tom ‘How do we make that into a love story?’ He just fell right into it." I was trying to let the audience know that they were not looking at a comic book, or what had been done with Superman over the ages. This was the true story of Superman. In my eyes, when I was a kid, he was real. And he was in Tom’s eyes, too. We decided that’s the way we wanted the movie to be." (Richard Donner's interview with Michael P Coleman, 2020)

The perfect love story of a cross-border relationship. An Indian guy and an Iranian girl fell in love with each other. When was the moment you fell in love? (Please share an episode) Shun: Well, every moment was great. But since I gradually fell in love, it’s hard to pinpoint a specific moment. We had serious conversations, I pouted/sulked and acted as if I was testing him, but I learned that he is the kind of person who will never leave me. That’s why I fell in love with him. Dai: Why I fell in love… When we first started living together (in TBF), we both liked to exercise, so we played dodgeball, basketball, and badminton. He’s good at those things. I thought that was cool about him. #Dai_Shun

Just listened to Erika Kirk on with Sean Hannity, and wow. “We check in with each other every single day, ‘How can I serve you better? What can I do for you to make it better when you get home? Is there anything that you need me to have ready for you?’ He asks me the same thing… You are a team and you guys are not at ends with each other. Work together, communicate, and grow together as an equally yoked partnership.” “He genuinely cared about how he could improve himself as a husband… ‘I wanna serve you because I love you and I wanna make sure that I can be the provider that you need spiritually, emotionally, and every other way with the children.’ We never looked at each other as competing roles… There was no daylight between us.” “We were always in lockstep with the Lord. We were equally yoked when we got married and we remained that way because our full focus and our full through line was the Lord… We had a fire at the covenant when we got married. That was not something that was just, ‘Oh, this is so cute.’ This is a big deal.” “And yes, there is some pain in that is deep pain… but the love that Charlie and I had and still have is something that transcends this world and into heaven. And that’s why I still feel so connected to him.” She’s now carrying forward the last book Charlie poured his life into the same wisdom he lived every day at home: put your phone down, pour into your family, lead with faith, serve the people God gave you. Death tried to silence him. Instead it just handed Erika the megaphone. Their marriage is still speaking. Their covenant is still winning. And every couple who grabs that book and starts asking “How can I serve you better today?” is proof the story isn’t over. The best chapters are still being written.
