A leader must be courageous, leading from the front, and not cocooned away from the pain of the people he/she leads. Rain, or shine, a leader takes the risk so his/her people do not have to. The reason to want to be in office is to make the lives of your citizens safe, easier and better. You don’t have to be liked by everybody, but you must do right by everybody for the greater good and not for the benefit of a few.
