We had the pleasure of interviewing Ron Frost, Head Coach of Nicholls Softball, who shared his unique story and the “why” behind what fuels his passion for college athletics. Coach Ron is a college baseball player turned college softball coach. The Atlanta native was a pitcher for Alabama State Baseball, and after his playing days he pursued coaching within the baseball program. Frost went on to start a travel ball organization in Alabama and work in sports turf management before finding his way to coaching softball at Vernon College Athletics. In 2022, Frost came to Nicholls as an assistant and was named Head Softball Coach earlier this summer. We look forward to sharing highlights of our conversation with Frost over the next few weeks! November 2025 in Texas In the Bi-District playoff game between Sundown Roughnecks and Wink Wildcats, Wink was comfortably ahead late in the fourth quarter. Sundown had a senior player, Kolt McDaniel, who has special needs and had never scored a touchdown in his high school career. With 22 seconds left and the game already decided, Sundown’s coaches asked Wink’s head coach Brian Gibson if their team could let Kolt score. Coach Gibson didn’t hesitate: he pulled his defense off the field entirely, told his players to let Kolt run untouched into the end zone. Kolt McDaniel scored his first and only career touchdown. The Sundown sideline, the fans, and even many Wink players and fans erupted in cheers. If you think José Mourinho's rants are wild, his first ever rant was completely insane. In 2000, Mourinho had only 8 career matches as a coach, when his Benfica player, Sabry, called him out in public. Mourinho's reply was crazy.
