While I’m doing my makeup, I also think about how much effort you all put into dressing up beautifully to come see me, and I feel really grateful and happy. (Complimenting the translator’s Chinese: it’s really good 👀) Then there’s something I wanted to say “From now on, don’t dye your hair” I’m worried about your scalp health. I just saw your hair roots breaking earlier, is that okay? It’s not good, right! You’re already so beautiful, you only need to dye your hair occasionally~ And one more thing “Don’t look down at your phones” Do you know why? It causes wrinkles! Not immediately, but in the future. When you get older, your skin will sag. I’m saying this for your own good. Don’t look down, look up instead. This helps prevent wrinkles and is also better for your neck. Got it? And on firing fast: "If somebody is in there and they just don't seem to be pulling their weight... think of them as you're in a boat, you're in a refugee boat and you're all paddling forward and there's one person paddling back the other way. You don't need that in the boat. And if you need to let them go tell them, look, you're a great person, these are your strengths, they're fantastic, but they're not a good fit for what we're doing here... You mentioned that we need to think about the future generation. Let me briefly share my experience. As a Korean immigrant, I lived in the U.S. for about 10 years. I was a teenager growing up at the time. If suddenly the US government labeled Koreans as people who could potentially commit crimes, and I experienced that kind of racism, I don't think I'll have good feelings about the country I immigrated to. And if you apply that directly to Korea, second and third-generation kids go to school, and their friends say, "Hey, a lot of crimes happen in your group" and treat them like that, saying a lot of crime happens, you wouldn't have good thoughts that way. 🐹 I don't have much time left, so I'll wrap up. Our ultimate goal is a society where we can coexist. But the main causes of crime are not nationality, they're factors like poverty, unemployment, and social alienation. Therefore, I don't thinkk there is a need to designate areas with high concentrations of foreigners as special security zones.

Yes, you need to be automatic on math facts. Not just arithmetic, but also exponent/logarithm rules, trig identities, derivative/integral rules, etc., all the way up the ladder of math. Why? Because solving problems feels smooth when you're automatic on the components – it’s like moving puzzle pieces around, and you just need to identify how they fit together. But without automaticity on the components, each puzzle piece is a heavy weight. You struggle to move them at all, much less figure out where they’re supposed to go. And this deficit compounds like a high-interest debt. To develop automaticity, it's critical to engage in proper retrieval practice, doing your best to retrieve information from memory. Always try your best to recall formulas and approaches without looking back at reference material. Use the reference material when you absolutely need to, but no more than you absolutely need to. If you can't retrieve a piece of info from memory despite trying your hardest, then okay, peek back at the reference – just a little bit, just the tiniest bit of priming, just that specific piece of info that you were trying to remember, nothing else – and then close the reference, re-pull the info from memory, and try to recall the rest and proceed forward as far as possible without peeking back at the reference again. Your brain is lifting a weight and the reference material is your spotter – it’s there as a last resort to help you get the weight up, only when you absolutely can’t get it up yourself, and the amount of help should be kept to the bare minimum. The goal is to wean yourself off of reference material, using it as sparsely as possible, until you don’t need it at all. That said, in addition to working problems with minimal reliance on reference material and frequently taking closed-book timed quizzes, there are plenty of instances where it's possible to efficiently speed up the development of automaticity *even further* by engaging in rapid-fire flashcard-style retrieval practice. Most people think AI means we don’t need to learn anymore. But that idea crumbled last month when I sat across from Stanford Graduate School of Education Dean, Dan Schwartz. Dan read this to the audience: “The procedure is actually quite simple. First you arrange things into different groups. Of course, one pile may be sufficient depending on how much there is. If you have to go somewhere else due to lack of facilities that is the next step; otherwise you are pretty well set. It is important not to overdo things. That is, it is better to do too few things at once than too many…” No one really understood it. Then he gave them one line of context: “This is about doing laundry.” And suddenly it all made sense. Same paragraph. Same words. But once you *knew* what it was about, your brain could organize the information. Dan looked at the audience and said, “If you don’t know enough, the AI’s output is just words and sentences. You might *think* you understand it, but you don’t.” And he’s right. AI doesn’t eliminate the need to learn—it makes real knowledge more important than ever. This is a conversation we’re constantly having at Alpha. Because when a kid asks ChatGPT a question, how do they know if the answer’s even good? How do they know when to push back or ask more? It all comes back to this: you need knowledge to interpret the output. That’s why we still teach writing. That’s why we teach proportionality. That’s why we want kids to understand germ theory, gravity, and the Bill of Rights. Not because they’ll regurgitate it on a test, but because they’ll need that knowledge to make sense of the world (and the tools) around them. AI will make learning faster, more playful, and more personalized. But it won’t replace the need to learn. It’ll just expose when we haven’t. This is the wrap up to my social experiment going undercover on a dating website as a man trying to get a good woman. (I meander more than a little, but hopefully you find some nuggets in here helpful.) These are the conclusions I've come to about why men are struggling so badly on these dating websites. Men face many battles women do not. 40% of female profiles are gold diggers, hookers or bots. Men greatly outnumber women, and they get discouraged quickly. Reasons men fail on dating websites: 1. Refusing to develop your communication skills. My generation has a phrase, "Don't hate the player, hate the game." Be funny, charming and fun, or don't cry when she picks someone else who is. 2. Half-assing your dating profile. Mating rituals exist in all walks of the animal kingdom, so if you refuse to show her why she should pick you then don't expect to be picked. We all sell ourselves to the opposite gender in some way. It's just a fact of human life, and whining about it won't serve you well, change that fact, or get the girl. 3. A cringeworthy user name. Sure, your frat buddies will find, "EatYouAllNight69" hilarious, but it's not going to get you anyone worth a damn. Trust me, high value women hate that. 4. You don't want a pen pal, so go in with the idea that your goal is to get her number and get her off that site as soon as possible, or someone else will. Women are desperate for a strong, masculine man she can trust to lead and protect her from the dragons at the gate. A nice guy is too weak and desperate to do it, and a jerk is just mean and abusive. Again, mating rituals exist in every walk of the animal kingdom and humans are no different. You will only get out of this life and a potential mate the effort you are willing to put in, and that includes developing your mind and body to be the best version of yourself. Not just for her, but for you too. A needy guy with low self-esteem is never going to get the girl. Good boundaries and a healthy self image equals success, so get back into the gym and start eating clean. The better you look the better you'll feel. The better you feel the more success in life you'll have. A 300lb girl with 5 kids with different fathers is never going to get a good man. Control your reproduction and stop being a wh*re. Despite what feminists tell you, girls, your body count does matter to him. Keep it low and maintain your dignity. Research has shown time and again that women are instinctively drawn to certain traits like bravery, intelligence, and a willingness to take risks. Basically, if it would keep you from getting voted off the island on Survivor, she’s going to think it’s hot. Make sure your profile highlights these kind of personality traits in an attractive way. Stop whining about height! We DGAF about how tall you are just so long as it's taller than us. Your insecurities will make you desperate, needy and totally hamstring your chances. Bottom line: Without effort don't expect success. In anything, really. You'll always find an excuse to stay exactly where you are and you'll only change your stars when the place your living becomes more painful/difficult then than they journey you need to take for a better life.

People relocate for countless reasons: to reunite with family and once they do they cn start jobs there. Others retire and go settle in other countries, start businesses, invest, study. Others seek safety or asylum and for ur own information asylum seekers are entitled to everything except voting. Others enjoy a different lifestyle so they leave and go to other countries. Others marry and relocated they don't need to have exceptional skills, others explore new opportunities, or simply because they prefer living in another country. Someone with enough money can buy a house in Namibia, Botswana or Portugal and settle there without ever looking for a job. Millions of migrants also work in ordinary occupations such as cleaners, farm workers, waiters, drivers, factory workers, caregivers, packers, construction workers and hospitality staff. These aren't necessarily "scarce skills," yet countries across the world legally recruit people for them because there is huge demand. THE BEST LEADERS DON’T ASK FOR “BUY-IN”. THEY DO THIS INSTEAD: “Coaches use this word ‘buy-in’ all the time. And I’ll let you in on a little secret. It’s actually not a secret if you've watched anything I’ve ever put out before. I don't like the phrase ‘buy-in’. I don't like the word. I don't like the idea. It’s not something I’m interested in. I think the coaching profession and teams would be better off if coaches simply stopped asking for buy-in. But because I know that's not going to happen on anything besides a very small scale with a few select coaches and they're going to talk about and use the phrase ‘buy-in’, then we want to at least try to do it as best as we possibly can. But between you and me — don't even use the word. Don't use the word. Don't ask for buy-in. Don't demand buy-in. Focus entirely on that second point (“Create something worth buying into”) and do your best to not use the phrase. First, don't use the phrase because so many other places and so many other people and so many other coaches do and people are tired of it. So, I think the responsibility is on us if we're going to use a phrase then we need to know how that phrase is going to be seen, heard, and perceived. And when people get tired of being told to buy in and asked to buy in and begged to buy in and pleaded to buy in and preached to buy in, they turn it off and they tune it out. So, I think even using the phrase runs that risk. That's #1. #2 is: Rather than ask for it, rather than demand it, rather than even use the phrase, just focus on your action and go earn buy-in by doing great work. The book "Excellent Advice for Living" is so good I read it in one sitting. The book is a collection of maxims Kevin Kelly wrote to his adult children. Each maxim contains a bit of wisdom he wish he'd known earlier. 79 maxims that resonated the most (I added #57 selfishly) 1. Choose to believe that the entire universe is conspiring behind your back to make you a success. 2. Mastering the view through the eyes of others will unlock many doors. 3. If you can avoid seeking the approval of others your power is limitless. 4. The reward for good work is more work. 5. Don’t be the best. Be the only. 6. The urgent is a tyrant. The important should be your king. 7. Find smart people who will disagree with you. 8. The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing. 9. The most counterintuitive truth of the universe is that the more you give to others the more you'll get. 10. Life gets better as you replace transactions with relationships. 11. Courtesy costs nothing. 12. Life lessons will be presented to you in the order they are needed. 13. Cultivate an allergy to average. 14. If you repeated what you did today 365 more times would you be where you want to be next year? 15. If you're alive that means you still have lessons to learn. 16. Master something.
