We're launching something new: Collaborative Notes The idea: when you request a note, AI drafts one — then the community refines it together through ratings and suggestions. You can watch it get better in real time. It’s a whole new way for the public to work with AI — and each other — to make information more accurate. And a whole new way to contribute to Community Notes. For now, only requests from Top Writers on English-language posts generate Collaborative Notes, and you must have 2+ Writing Impact to make suggestions. We plan to expand that & shape the experience based on your feedback. As usual, it’s open-source:

X’s in-app browser is cool, but it makes saving links via the share extension a real pain on mobile. (IYKYK.) We’ve solved this with a neat new trick. Now, when you save an X post to Matter that contains a URL, we ask if you want to save the link or the post. TLDR: If you want to save an article linked in a post, just save the post directly from your feed! You can thank Hunter for this clever, "obvious in retrospect" idea.

The more Twitter’s algorithm amplifies it, I’m sure we’ve seen that a lot lately. Twitter is currently a breeding ground for bots, misinformation and engagement farming. It’s almost catching up to TikTok. Here’s what to do instead: •Stop quoting and commenting under a negative Beyoncé and her family’s post. The more you engage, the more the Twitter algorithm spreads it, and then comes the bots. I’m sure you’ve noticed how so many negative tweets filled with misinformation end up with 100k likes and 20 million views. • Take a screenshot of the tweet, and talk about it instead. Once you stop engaging with the tweets directly, it weakens the algorithm. The tweet stops leaving their circle. •Send the tweet to anyone signed up to the Community notes. • Sign up for the community notes. •Report the tweet and the account, although this doesn’t seem to do anything these days. You can report a tweet spreading misinformation and sexualising a child and Twitter will you “It doesn’t violate any rules”. That’s Elon’s version of free speech.

It’s actually amusing how every time I post about Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, a community note suddenly appears like clockwork. At this point it feels less like fact checking and more like an organised reflex. Community Notes were meant to add context where it genuinely matters, not to be hijacked by fan groups who mass upvote notes simply because they dislike the post. The feature has become almost useless when outcomes are driven by follower counts instead of factual necessity. If one side has more coordinated supporters, they can force a note through whether the post needs correction or not. That turns what should be a transparency tool into a popularity contest. When “consensus” is determined by numbers rather than accuracy, it stops being about truth and starts being about control. And with that, you can stack the notes as high as you want. It won’t rewrite my opinion of Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively.
