What Twitter founder Jack Dorsey learned about culture from 49ers coach Bill Walsh When Bill Walsh joined the 49ers, they were the worst team in the NFL. Within three years, they were Super Bowl Champions. In his book, The Score Takes Care of Itself, he writes: โ€œWinners act like winners before theyโ€™re winnersโ€ฆThe culture precedes positive results. It doesnโ€™t get tacked on as an afterthought on your way to the victory stand. Champions behave like champions before theyโ€™re champions; they have a winning standard of performance before their winners.โ€ And he provides six guidelines for establishing a standard of performance: 1. Start with a comprehensive recognition of reverence for and identification of the specific actions and attitudes relevant to your teamโ€™s performance and production. 2. Be clarion clear in communicating your expectation of high effort and execution of your Standard of Performance. Like water, many decent individuals will seek lower ground if left to their own inclinations. In most cases you are the one who inspires and demands they go upward rather than settle for the comfort of doing what comes easily. Push them beyond their comfort zone; expect them to give extra effort. 3. Let all know that you expect them to possess the highest level of expertise in their area of responsibility. 4. Beyond standards and methodology, teach your beliefs, values, and philosophy. An organism is not an inanimate object. It is a living organism that you must nurture, guide, and strengthen. 5. Teach โ€œconnection and extension.โ€ An organization filled with individuals who are โ€œindependent contractorsโ€ unattached to one another is a team with little interior cohesion and strength. 6. Make the expectations and metrics of competence that you demand in action and attitudes from personnel the new reality of your organization. You must provide the model for that new standard in your own actions and attitude. In the clip below, Twitter and Square founder Jack Dorsey encourages anyone thinking about leading teams or building a company to read this book: โ€œWhatโ€™s important about this is that as you start building a team, you need to set expectations around how people need to perform in the companyโ€”how people need to act in the company. And these can be very simple things, but without that, you are rutterlessโ€”you will react to the outside. And if you react to the outside, you are building someone elseโ€™s roadmap and youโ€™re building someone elseโ€™s dream instead of your own.โ€ Source: Y Combinator

๐Ÿšจ EXPOSING NOSTRA. AI ๐Ÿšจ We have exposed some pretty nasty grifts in this space, but Nostra reigns supreme above all others (by a fair margin). Since we have >30 min video and an intensive Notion document (linked at the very bottom of this post) I am going to just highlight the key areas below. For those who don't want to watch it all - here's some time stamps that cover the most important/most hilarious parts of the video. 1:08 - Site Speed Scamming 101 4:20 - Beginning of the actual findings of what we caught Nostra doing. 5:25 - Nostra CEO tweets about how vitally important it is to have your most critical information above the fold on your site. Then we show that they almost exclusively marketed their fake site speed scores above the fold. 6:37 - The 'before and after' that shows how radically different the Nostra team made their site after they realized they were being investigated (perhaps my favorite part) 11:05 - Before: YOUR SITE PERFORMANCE SCORE MATTERS ..... 1 day later, Nostra CEO: "Yeah page speed scores are pretty useless" ๐Ÿ˜‚ 12:07 - "Nostra clients are 8x more likely to pass core web vitals compared to non Nostra clients" *Lukas then shows how every single one of their 'success story' case studies are failing almost all core web vitals on their home pages.... 15:10 - Jake dives into the technical shortcomings of the Nostra product, from them using a deprecated form of rendering and claiming (falsely) that Google still endorses it, to showing that any visitor logged into any Nostra-enabled site is not fed the cached pages... meaning that many of their highest LTV clients are being given a drastically worse browsing experience.... + lots more! 29:47 - Lukas shows all of the deleted tweets from the Nostra CEO. Suspiciously, all of them just so happen to be based on page speed scores... hmm. The main points: - Nostra uses site speed cloaking tactics to artificially inflate performance numbers on Google's Page Speed Insights. There is no ethical reason to do this. It is a tactic used exclusively by site speed scammers. *A few people may point to the fact that Meta uses Lighthouse scores as one of many contributing factors to showing ads, so certain sites MAY see an uptick in paid performance on Meta while having these fake scores. This is a horrible basis to justify attempting black hat scams on Google tools. I'll be doing a whole separate video for this topic alone, but for now, just understand it is shortsighted and unbelievably stupid. - They then used those artificially inflated performance scores as the central focus of their entire marketing strategy. *They have released some hilariously inaccurate/misleading blog posts in the past week that try and claim they don't use cloaking and that their methods are totally ethical... you better believe we are doing a follow-up video that dismantles these blog posts paragraph by paragraph. - Various current and former clients of Nostra have confirmed that one of their central selling points when convincing them to pay for Nostra (often quoting/charging thousands a month) was that their Google performance numbers were going to go up, which meant a faster site, which meant more revenue. A blatant, irrefutable lie. - As we dug into their code, we found even more issues. Most notably, their 'crawler optimization' was stripping down pages for both Lighthouse (Page Speed Insights) as well as Googlebot, which means that the contents of any page 'client-side rendered' by Nostra in this way was almost entirely invisible to Google, as it saw basically nothing to crawl and index. - All of our findings were confirmed by over a dozen well-respected developers in the Shopify space, including high-ranking engineers at Shopify. - Before we notified Nostra of our investigation into them, Jake Casto (partner in this report) met directly with the Nostra team, including their Chief Lead Architect (?) and asked every question he could to gain as much context as possible. This meeting further confirmed all of our findings and even pushed some further. - Hours after we notified the CEO of Nostra about our investigation into them and the impending report we would release, their entire site changed.... like... CHANGED. Nearly every mention of 'page speed' or 'performance score' was stripped from the site, including all of their case studies. Additionally, they renamed an entire product. Their 'Crawler Optimization' tool became 'Bimodal Dynamic Rendering'.... - That same night, the Nostra CEO then deleted all tweets insinuating performance score as a benefit of using Nostra (proof shown in the video) and began publicly talking about how useless speed scores are. A metric they had long lauded as the single-most important aspect of what their tech improves was now "pretty useless" just a few hours later. - It is imperative to know that we did not mention ANYTHING about our interest in investigating their focus on performance scores as a key marketing strategy. All of these changes were made by them without knowing anything about what in particular we were investigating. Not shockingly, the main scam we were highlighting in our investigation is what was wiped entirely (within literal hours) from their site/their founders personal messaging. * go look at their site now and try to find any claims about performance scores on their home page. They even took them off the top of all their case studies. (we show this all in the video as well). - Nostra has since continued to modify their code, resulting in some of their 'success story' clients seeing a 50+ point drop in performance scores (shown in the video). More current and former clients continue to reach out and share more stories about the many sketchy happenings at Nostra. - Nostra also released a very weak response in the form of 2 blog posts that aim to justify their actions/tech. They have been sharing this with their clients and attempting to patch over the MANY inconsistencies and blatant lies they were caught in. As I said earlier, we will be doing a video dedicated to dismantling these blog posts in detail. Moral of the story. No SaaS is going to plug in to your Shopify store and drastically increase your performance scores in a matter of moments. Any tool or dev or agency, no matter how fancy they look and how much venture backing they have, will be able to get your Shopify stores' mobile performance scores into the 80/90's under any normal circumstances. If someone says they can... You are 100% being scammed. Site speed optimization is a complex development process that takes highly-skilled devs dozens of hours to do properly. No tool can replace this. Don't be fooled into thinking otherwise. For a deeper look into the technical side, check out the link below.

Dear PM Narendra Modi you have committed biggest blunder in your life and had let down our great country Bharat ie. India : 1. What was the need for you PM #NarendraModi to speak, listen and agree with that idiotic stupid #DonaldTrump ? Shame on you PM #NarendraModiji ๐Ÿซต๐Ÿ˜ก 2. We had a very small window space of few days which was enough to win the #IndiaPakistanWar , to correct historical blunders and take back #POJK . PM Modiji why you did what you did yesterday by agreeing with that non exiting #ceasefire with known betrayers #Pakistan ? It was matter of 3-4 days of more freedom to our Indian Army, Airforce, Navy to successfully complete #OperationSindoor #OperationSindoor2 . PM Modiji you had betrayed and let down the country, Armed forces and we the people. Shame. 3. Till yesterday afternoon our brave warrior #IndianArmedForces #IndianAirforce #IndianArmy #IndianNavy were on wining streak . Our brave Indian Armed forces had destroyed #Pakistani airspaceโ€™s and more then 8-11 #PAF bases. Then why you let go the biggest success and opportunity provided to country by our Indian Armed Forces? 4. In 1971 the then PM #IndiraGandhi was new in Office as Prime Minister just maybe for 2-3 years. That time too there were pressures from USA administration and International communities not to go in war against #Pakistan . Still our govt did not caved in to USA pressures and threats . We let our Army,Navy,Airforce complete its victory tasks against Pakistan and thatโ€™s how #Bangladesh was created and India won the 1971 war. Though after winning 1971 India-Pakistan war, IndiraGandhi also committed blunders of releasing 93,000+ Pak POW without taking back #POJK and #SahebKartarpur corridor. 5. PM Modiji you have been Prime Minister of India for last 11 years and yet you committed the biggest blunder by listening and agreeing to that stupid self praising #Trump ? Why Sir? You wasted our brave #IndianArmy #IndianNavyAction #IndiaAirforce bravery, valour and their sacrifices by agreeing to non sustainable and non existing cease fire with #PakistanTerroristState . Now #CeasefireViolation #ceasefireviolations #ceasefirebreak happening since yesterday night and many of our armed forces including civilians in border states has to face attacks of Pakistani cowards . 6. Itโ€™s utter disgusting and pathetic for nation and for we the people to watch our Foreign Secretary dejected face in media briefing requesting Pakistan authorities not to violate non existing Ceasefire in #IndiaPakistanWar2025 . Shame ,shame,shameโ€ฆ.. Not done , not done, shame on you PM Modiji ๐Ÿ‘‡

The day that Greeks saved Americans. During the Korean War (1950-1953), North Korea was supported by China and the Soviet Union. The conflict in Korea quickly escalated into an international one, with the intervention of the United Nations (UN), led by the United States, to support South Korea. Greece responded to the UN's call and decided to participate. Thus, Greece sent a force consisting of an infantry battalion (named "Sparta") and a squadron of the Royal Hellenic Air Force. This force was known as the Greek Expeditionary Force in Korea (EKSE). The Greek infantry battalion "Sparta" participated in many battles and operations during the war, but the most notable and significant was its involvement in the defense of "Outpost Harry" in June 1953. Outpost Harry was a strategically important point on the Korean Peninsula. It was located on the front line, and the UN forces defended it with great determination, as its capture by Chinese forces could have had serious consequences for South Koreaโ€™s defense. The Battle of Outpost Harry is one of the most dramatic episodes of Greek participation in the Korean War. At this outpost, Greek soldiers faced fierce attacks from overwhelmingly larger (primarily) Chinese forces. The Greek force defending the outpost consisted of approximately 150 soldiers. The Americans called them the "Spartans of Korea." This force was part of the Greek Expeditionary Force in Korea (EKSE), which had a total of about 1.000 men during the war. On the other hand, the attacking forces were significantly larger. During the battle in June 1953, the Greeks and their allies at the outpost faced attacks from approximately 30,000 Chinese soldiers. These attacks were conducted in waves, with the Chinese attempting to capture the outpost through mass infantry assaults, often supported by heavy weapons and artillery. The battle began on June 10 and lasted until June 18, 1953. The fighting was extremely intense, and the defenders suffered heavy losses. However, despite the significant numerical disadvantage and the ferocity of the attacks, the Greeks and their allies managed to hold the outpost. The bravery and resilience of the Greek soldiers in this battle were recognized internationally, and the Battle of Outpost Harry remains one of the most heroic moments in Greek military history. As Greeks, we continually take pride in our history and achievements. Therefore, what I will mention below, and what you will hear in the video I provide, are testimonies from Americans who fought alongside the Greeks. Greek soldiers distinguished themselves for their heroism and self-sacrifice. Their contribution was widely recognized by their allies, and many were honored with medals and distinctions. Reports from American veterans and other allies describe the moments before the battle, where Greek soldiers, knowing the harsh conditions they would face, chose to dance the "tsamiko" and celebrate joyfully without fear of death. The "tsamiko" is a traditional Greek war dance, known for its heroic and martial character, dating back to the battles of the Greek Revolution of 1821, where it was frequently performed before battles. This dance was not merely an act of cultural expression but also a means of psychological preparation and morale boosting. It demonstrated the determination and fearlessness of the Greek soldiers, as well as their desire to maintain high spirits even in the face of extreme adversity. When the American soldiers who were with them witnessed this scene, they expressed their admiration for this act. Their testimonies often note that this event inspired and gave them courage, showcasing the power of solidarity and camaraderie in war. After the ceasefire on July 27, 1953, Greek forces remained in Korea until 1955, participating in peacekeeping and reconstruction missions. The sacrifices of the Greek soldiers have not been forgotten and will never be forgotten, remaining an important aspect of the history of the Greek armed forces. For information on American testimonies regarding the heroism of the Greeks (beyond the well-known Greek sources that are easily accessible to all), you can find details in the following sources: -United States Army Center of Military History (historical archives from military libraries with official reports and personal testimonies from American soldiers) -Korean War Veterans Association (KWVA) (they maintain archives and publish veteransโ€™ accounts)

๐Ÿ“ฑ iPhone 17 Giveaway ๐Ÿ“ฑ To celebrate our mobile app launching, weโ€™re giving away an iPhone 17. backstory about the way we designed this Mobile app. For the last years, weโ€™ve heard again and again that our users wanted folk to go Mobile. But it didnโ€™t felt right to simply replicate the product and all its features on Mobile. Desktop and Mobile are completely different contexts. Our desktop version is built for productivity. We designed the interface to be simple and lightweight so not to overwhelm you, but with condensed information so you can have a high level view of whatโ€™s going on in your CRM. Weโ€™ve built it for bulk actions so can get through your tasks in reduced time. Itโ€™s the perfect companion for deep, focused work. Mobile is different. You check your mobile when youโ€™re on the go. Heading into the office, between client meetings, traveling for work, or simply off and far from your screens. And salespeople are often far from their desktop. Sales is about connecting, go meet your prospects on the fields, engage with them, shake hands. These moments are precious, thatโ€™s where trust is built. To shine during these moments, itโ€™s about the little things. Remembering your prospectโ€™ daughterโ€™ name. Making sure action points discussed in the meeting are well passed to the team. Ensuring you actually reach out to the lead you met at that conference, as you promised. We wanted to design the perfect companion for that. Contacts by folk is built as a contacts app that shows all your contacts from folk CRM. But designed to give you context and let you capture more context. - Sync contacts from multiple places - your emails, LinkedIn, calendar, WhatsApp, or any contact you add in the CRM - Add new contacts easily, including with business card scanning - Search contacts smartly - you can search by name, but also company, job title or even through your notes - Add notes on the go, mention your teammates, and even record notes with voice-to-text - View past notes and past interactions before a meeting across all your channels Think the native Contacts app, reinvented for today. Want to win? Comment โ€œCONTACTSโ€ below ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡ Weโ€™ll randomly pick 1 winner โ—พ 1x iPhone 17 โ—พ 1 year of folk CRM โš ๏ธ Get a second entry if you repost!

[NINE HEART PICKS] Hyein's First Impression of Minji_ ๐Ÿ˜ณ From pre-debut practice room memories to her current performances on stage, Hyein shares nine personally selected memories ๐Ÿ–ค ๐Ÿน: Hello Dazed! This is Hyein from NewJeans. I just finished a Dazed photoshoot, and I canโ€™t wait for you to see the collaboration between Louis Vuitton, Dazed, and myself. Please look forward to it! Today, Iโ€™ll be sharing my 9 Heart Picksโ€”nine unforgettable memories, moments, or scenes from before my debut to my current activities. This has been such a meaningful day for me because when we released the Supernatural album, I had the amazing opportunity to collaborate with Takashi Murakami, which was such a happy experience. Now, with another incredible chance to collaborate with Louis Vuitton for this photoshoot, I feel truly happy and deeply honored. ๐Ÿ’ฌ You attended the Louis Vuitton show yesterdayโ€”was there a moment that stood out to you? ๐Ÿน: I took pictures with Bae Doona-nim. I was so happy. And when she told me how much she supports us, it was such a heartwarming moment. ๐Ÿ’ฌ What standard did you use to prepare todayโ€™s 9 memories? ๐Ÿน: I prepared this without a fixed standard, more like following a personal timeline. So, Iโ€™ll present it that way. First, I chose โ€˜trainee.โ€™ I was the last one to join and become part of the team as a trainee. What still leaves the strongest impression on me is when I first saw the older membersโ€”how could there be such beautiful and angelic people? They were so kind, pure, and innocent. And, of course, they were incredibly beautiful, as expected. Back then, everyone had such youthful and delicate energy compared to now. They were all so cute, and it was really meaningful to live together, train together, and prepare for one goal as a group. ๐Ÿ’ฌ Who made the strongest first impression on you? ๐Ÿน: Minji-unnie! During the trainee period, there was a particularly tough time for us called the โ€˜monthly evaluationโ€™ period. Itโ€™s a time when we have to perform what weโ€™ve prepared in front of an audience. It was just before one of those evaluations, and I remember Minji-unnie wearing a black hoodie, sitting in a spinning chair in front of her computer, and looking so serious and a bit intimidating. I actually mentioned this to her later, and she said that she was really stressed out during that time and might have seemed scary because of it. That moment left such a strong impression on me. The second memory Iโ€™ll choose is summer. The reason itโ€™s summer is that we debuted on July 22. When we debuted, the members and I all gathered in the dorm to watch the โ€œAttentionโ€ music video together. We didnโ€™t release any teasers or previews beforehand, so we were just waiting for the music video to come out, and we all watched it together in the living room. There are moments in life where you donโ€™t realize how precious they are at the time, right? But that particular moment really hit me. I felt, Ah, this is such a special time. It was one of those moments where you could truly feel its significance. Thatโ€™s why I chose it. Since the first one was summer, Iโ€™ll go with winter for the second. When I think of winter, the first thing that comes to mind is โ€œDitto.โ€ Despite being a winter activity, it felt incredibly warm. It was our second comeback, and the music video had a rich storyline featuring a character named Ban Hee-soo. That character represents Bunnies, our fans. It was our first comeback with a music video that directly included Bunnies, and the whole preparation process felt like we were doing it together with them, making it a meaningful activity. Also, the song โ€œDittoโ€ itself is so special. Every time I listen to it, it has this way of making my heart feel full and warm. Itโ€™s a song that turns winter into something cozy, so I chose our โ€œDittoโ€ and โ€œOMGโ€ promotions as a special winter memory. ๐Ÿ’ฌ What song do you listen to the most? ๐Ÿน: As for the songs I frequently listen to, I mostly play tracks from our recent album. But aside from those, I listen to "Ditto" quite often. For the fourth oneโ€ฆ Iโ€™ll choose Louis Vuitton. Louis Vuittonโ€ฆ Oh, I see our team giving me a look, ใ…‹ใ…‹ใ…‹. But itโ€™s not just because this is a Louis Vuitton shoot. There are just so many precious memories Iโ€™ve made with Louis Vuitton. From the very first moment I got involved with Louis Vuitton, Iโ€™ve had the opportunity to experience things I would never have dreamed of if not for this partnership. For example, I got to visit Paris to attend their fashion show and witness the incredible presentations of a brand with such a long and rich history. Those experiences were truly invaluable. Even the photoshoots were such exciting and happy moments for me. So, Iโ€™m incredibly grateful to Louis Vuitton for everything. For the fifth oneโ€ฆ Ah, what should I choose for the fifth? Iโ€™ll go with people. Why? Well, looking back, Iโ€™ve realized just how many amazing adults and wonderful people Iโ€™ve had around me. Especially recently, Iโ€™ve really felt grateful for the good people in my life. And of course, that includes Bunnies. The relationship we have with Bunnies feels so unique to me. Iโ€™d love to meet them more often, have more conversations, and connect with them on a deeper level. But there are so many reasons and times when thatโ€™s not possible. Even so, itโ€™s truly amazing how much they continue to support and love us. Iโ€™m so thankful for that. Thank you! So, I chose people. The sixth is the stage. We had our second fan meeting at Tokyo Dome, and what really struck me at that time was how much the five of us were genuinely enjoying the stage. Seeing so many people who came to watch the performance enjoying themselves and sharing in the effort we poured into preparing the stage made me feel so proud. It gave me the feeling of, "Wow, something I love and worked hard on is being loved by so many people." Thatโ€™s why each moment on stage is etched deeply in my memory. The seventh is preciousness. During "How Sweet" and "Supernatural" promotions, we really gave it our all. The choreography was made incredibly challenging, and the songs were amazing as well. While preparing so hard, I ended up getting injured, maybe because I pushed myself too much. After the injury, I found myself spending a lot of time alone, which gave me a chance to look after the members more closely. Theyโ€™re such a team that just watching them makes me smile. I didnโ€™t realize it before, but watching them made me laugh, and I found myself wanting to see their performances in person. So, in a way, the time I spent injured and observing from a different perspective turned out to be a necessary moment for me. When youโ€™re just running forward, you donโ€™t always realize what youโ€™re doing. But after the injury, I had time to reflect and remind myself why weโ€™re doing all of this. The eighth is something very obvious: Bunnies. Thatโ€™s because ever since our debut, Bunnies have been with us in every single moment. Thatโ€™s why I chose Bunnies. Among the times Iโ€™ve shared with Bunnies, there have been so many moments filled with happiness, sadness, excitement, and a range of emotions, which is why I picked Bunnies. Lastly, Dazed! This was my first time working with Dazed, and wow! Todayโ€™s photoshoot was so much fun, and the Dazed team was so warm and kind. Thank you so much for treating me so wellโ€”it was such a happy time. Please look forward to the Dazed photoshoot featuring Louis Vuitton collections by Takashi Murakami. I hope you love it and check it out a lot. Thank you! Today, I shared 9 memorable moments from my time with NewJeans. Where are we in the consumer AI cycle? I went on Bloomberg Technology to discuss what we a16z are seeing from studying the data since 2023. So far, a rising tide has lifted all boats. But, we're starting to see ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini diverge in approach to winning the consumer. My main takeaways ๐Ÿ‘‡ 1. ChatGPT is still dominant - but the race for "default AI" is on. On web, ChatGPT is 2.7x larger than #2 Gemini. On mobile, 2.5x larger. But, ~20% of weekly ChatGPT users are now also using Gemini in the same week - and Claude is growing quickly with developer and prosumer use cases. 2. AI is going global - but not where you'd expect. We built a per-capita adoption index by country - Singapore ranks #1, followed by Hong Kong, the UAE, South Korea. The U.S. is down at #20 - with both a smaller % of white collar workers for whom AI is valuable, and more cultural pushback. 3. The creative tool category has completely transformed. In our first edition, 7 of 9 creative tools were image generators. Today only 3 remain - video, music, and voice have taken their slots. OpenAI and Google focusing on native image gen means you need to be specialized to standalone. 4. Agents are here. Manus and Genspark both made the web ranks - and if our data was for February (not January), OpenClaw would have debuted at #30! But, it has still not escaped containment to the mainstream consumer - expect more packaging around agents for specific use cases. 5. AI is leaving the browser. Between Cursor, Claude Code + Cowork, Granola, Wispr, and others, users are increasingly interacting with AI via desktop apps. We will have to evolve our methodology as AI becomes more ambient - and can't be measured by a website hit or app download. 6. AI-enhanced (not AI-native) players are waking up. For the first time, we included six legacy products that are now meaningfully AI enabled. Only 3 made the top 15 on web - including Notion, which reports 50% of ARR from AI. The others? Canva, Freepik, Grammarly, Capcut, and Picsart. Thanks to Caroline Hyde and Ed Ludlow for having me on - can't wait to see what the report looks like in another 6 months!

Thabo Cele and Lebo Maboe double pivot vs Polokwane City๐Ÿ“ The level of organisation, discipline, and resistance was completely different compared to our games vs Magesi, Orbit or TS Galaxy and that matters when analyzing performance. And, before even getting into the Maboeโ€“Cele double pivot, itโ€™s important to address the front 3. Trying to impose a possession-based approach with Lilepo, Duba, and Silva is, at this stage, a bit unrealistic. The profiles donโ€™t naturally support sustained control or efficiency in tight spaces; they are more direct, which makes the approach look slightly disconnected. Otherwise, who should combine with the double pivot to keep possession against a low block cos you're not inverting any fullbacks or CBs? Mdu[10] is also direct and wonโ€™t drop deep into ball circulation. โ–  The midfield pairing of Cele & Maboe gave the team a clear structural balance in the 1st and 2nd phase, even if the chemistry is still far off. I mean, it's their 1st start together so๐Ÿคท๐Ÿพโ€โ™‚๏ธ Cele operated as a holding midfielder, anchoring the team behind/next to Maboe. He took on most of the defensive responsibility, well-positioned to screen the backline, and effective in managing transitions. โ–  In possession, Cele was central to the 1st and 2nd phase of progression. He completed more passes than Plk Cityโ€™s midfield duo of Kambala and Maphangule combined while also neutralising their 10 Mutudza. Mutudza managed just 5 passes in 66 minutes, which says everything about Celeโ€™s dominance in that zone. He constantly made himself available in front of the CBs, scanning, managing the tempo, and organising the teamโ€™s structure. He always demanded movement from his teammates, always pointing to open spaces they should be occupying to progress better. At one point, he was calling Mdu to receive while Mdu was instead making a forward run away from Cele who had the ball. Cele didnโ€™t force progression unnecessarily, but that doesnโ€™t mean he lacked intent to move the team forward. He completed more line breaking passes and passes into the final 3rd than any other player. That highlights his awareness of when to accelerate play and when to maintain control. โ–  Maboe, on the other hand, operated as the 8, with freedom to impact higher zones. With Cele securing the base, he was free to connect phases and influence play closer to the final 3rd. However, you could still see old habits from his previous role. He often dropped deeper than expected, which slightly limited his presence in decisive attacking areas. As much as he played balls into the final 3rd, we also needed him to receive in the final 3rd more. โ–  Together, Cele and Maboe created 5 chances against a very disciplined low block of Plk City. 4 of those came from Maboe, underlining how much creative responsibility he still carried. However, this wasnโ€™t his sharpest attacking performance in terms of passing and shooting. Despite the output in chances created, there were several misplaced passes in key moments, and he didnโ€™t attack the box enough for an 8 with a reliable 6 behind him. Itโ€™s a similar issue we had with Mdu yesterday, he also struggled to consistently enter the opposition box as usual or combine between the lines. There was a clear lack of chemistry in the final 3rd in our overall performance. We couldn't stay on the ball enough to put pressure on their defense and cause enough panic for them to crack. โ–  Towards midway through the 2nd Half, both Cele & Maboe started to lose some steam, and the pairing needed refreshing. At this point, Plk City had already overloaded the middle and allowed very little space for us to operate. We failed the same way in the loss vs Stellies, they improved their midfield to cancel our dominance, and we looked confused with our subs, no clear intention to improve a clear area that's been neutralized. Our struggles were not in the double pivot. There was nothing result-altering or structurally wrong with Maboe & Cele. [Video] Part 1:

"Close to 100% of the features we build end up being used by a significant number of people." โ€”Eilon Reshef, co-founder and CPO of Gong To make this happen, every product team at Gong works with 6-12 design partners on every new feature and product idea. As a result, unlike what most companies experience, almost everything they build ends up being widely adopted. In my conversation with Eilon, we dig into: ๐Ÿ”ธ How specifically Gong's teams work with design partners ๐Ÿ”ธ Lessons learned from being early in AI ๐Ÿ”ธ Gong's early super-narrow ICP ๐Ÿ”ธ Why you should make big decisions quickly ๐Ÿ”ธ His โ€œspiral methodโ€ for learning complex topics fast ๐Ÿ”ธ How and why Eilon encourages radical autonomy ๐Ÿ”ธ More Listen now ๐Ÿ‘‡ โ€ข YouTube: โ€ข Spotify: โ€ข Apple: Thank you to our wonderful sponsors for supporting the podcast: ๐Ÿ† WorkOS โ€” Modern identity platform for B2B SaaS, free up to 1 million MAUs: ๐Ÿ† Vanta โ€” Automate compliance. Simplify security: ๐Ÿ† Think Fast, Talk Smart: The Podcast โ€” Tools and techniques to help you communicate more effectively: Some key takeaways: 1. At Gong, product teams are organized into autonomous โ€œpods,โ€ each consisting of a product manager, UX designer, a few engineers (front-end and back-end), and fractional roles like analysts and writers. Each pod is assigned a clear job-to-be-done, such as improving sales engagement or forecasting accuracy, and takes full ownership of the product development process. Whether itโ€™s improving sales engagement or forecasting accuracy, each pod runs with full ownership. This is how you get teams to move fast and stay aligned. 2. Gongโ€™s pods donโ€™t just build in isolationโ€”they partner with 12 to 20 design partners (existing customers) who give feedback every step of the way. This constant validation keeps the product on track, with about 95% of features actually getting used. 3. If you want more autonomy and speed, youโ€™ve got to trust your team and give them the freedom to experiment. This means that as a leader, you need to step back, give up some visibility, and accept that youโ€™ll make a few mistakes. The tradeoff is worth itโ€”higher velocity, better morale, and more impactful products. 4. To quickly learn a complex topic, use the โ€œspiral method.โ€ Start by speaking with one expert, then ask for recommendations on who else to talk to. Continue having conversations, gradually deepening your understanding. As you hear the same patterns and insights from multiple sources, youโ€™ll know youโ€™ve reached a sufficient depth to make informed decisions. This iterative approach helps you gather knowledge without aiming for perfection right away. 5. When starting out, extreme focus on a specific customer profile can drive faster success. Gong, for example, initially targeted U.S. companies selling software valued between $1,000 to $100,000 via Webex, narrowing their potential customer base to just 5,000 people. This laser focus enabled quicker product-market fit, word-of-mouth growth, a clear product direction, and easier customer acquisition, demonstrating the power of precision in the early stages. 6. When faced with a 51/49 decision, make it quickly. The more time you spend deliberating, the more energy you waste without improving the decision quality. This approach doesnโ€™t work for massive, one-way decisions like expanding to a new market or acquiring a company, but for most day-to-day decisions, donโ€™t wait until everythingโ€™s perfect. Commit, move forward, and adjust as you go.

With Y Combinator demo day coming up this weekend, I wanted to reflect on what I learned from YC W14, 10 years on + another company in: 1. The 7 minute espresso rule. Our first meeting with Sam Altman lasted just 7 minutes. The batch hadnโ€™t even officially started yet and my cofounder Ryan Rowe and I drove down from Mountain View to the tiny SF YC outpost to meet him. Sam was making an espresso when we walked in. He opened with โ€“ โ€œhave you launchedโ€? We said no, too many bugs. Our product Kimono Labs made it easy to just point and click to build a web scraper. Our promise was to get you an API in 60 seconds, without code. But it only worked on a handful of sites at the time. Sam pushed us to launched in 2 weeks. We debated. The espresso finished brewing, he picked it up, looked at us and said, โ€œwell, you better get going then and fix those bugsโ€. We left, launched in 2 weeks and learned one of the most important lessons that day - speed matters. Ship something youโ€™re embarrassed by. 2. There are no experts. Ryan and I were not prepared for the rapid influx of user on launch day. It got tons of traffic on day 1 and we didnโ€™t sleep in the next 48 hours bc servers and database kept crashing. We realized we werenโ€™t the experts and needed to hire one. We went over to Michael Seibel for advice who smiled and told us that in the early days at SocialCam (Twitch) experts thought the streaming video problem was impossible. The answer wasnโ€™t hiring an expert, but hiring someone young, capable and naรฏve enough to give it an earnest try. So we opted to just figure it out ourselves. 3. Messages in Pizza Boxes. Startups win through incredible customer service, then through product, not the other way around. Seibel told us how SocialCamโ€™s streaming infrastructure went down while a key teammate was unreachable off-grid in a Tahoe cabin for the weekend. Normal people would have waited until Monday. Not Michael. He called a local pizza delivery place and asked the delivery person to send a large pizza with an urgent message in the box to the cabin. Their infrastructure was back up in hours. 4. The Twinkle can matter more than the TAM. Ambition matters just as much as practicality. Before demo day, we were struggling with the end of our pitch. We knew the value of our product, and had a fanatical and fast-growing user base, but the market size we calculated either seemed so ridiculously big that it was not plausible, or so narrow that it was equally silly. Paul Graham and Geoff Ralston sat with us and showed that us that if we can really pull it off at scale, it would be bigger than Google. PG suggested not talking about market size, but just making sure people could see the twinkle in our eyes when we talked about what you might be able to do with a structured copy of the internet thatโ€™s larger than Googleโ€™s. 5. Youโ€™re always at the Origin. Our demo day was successful beyond our wildest beliefs. Afterwards, Geoff drew a chart for us on a whiteboard. It was a hockey stick. He asked us where we thought we were. It was a rhetorical question. He said we were at the origin. Sam doubled down. When he invested in Kimono, he gave us a Zimbabwean Trillion dollar note (the result of extreme hyperinflation in Zimbabwe), as a cautionary reminder that the fundraising and valuation mean nothing. We have channeled this into our culture @TheArenaAI with our ritual around neon shoelaces and a pair of neon track spikes hanging on the wall to remind us that weโ€™re at the Olympic starting line, but we donโ€™t have any medals yet. 6. High bandwidth discussions with users donโ€™t happen over email. The โ€œCollison installationโ€ is part of YC lore. John Collison told us that talking to users live was essential because email and chat conversations were just not enough. We did 100s of Skype conversations with Kimono users + one power user Alex Chung, who I met this way, has become a close friend and even attended my wedding in India last year!
