โš ๏ธ | Silent Victims | โ€œSmoke travels across continents. Wildlife cannot.โ€ ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐ŸŒฒ๐Ÿฟ๏ธ๐Ÿ’” ๐ŸŒก๏ธ Temperature Levels in North American Mega Wildfires โ€ข Surface and Ground Fires: In fires burning grasses, shrubs, and leaf litter at ground level, temperatures typically range between 300ยฐC and 600ยฐC. โ€ข Crown Fires: When flames reach the tree canopy and spread rapidly with the wind, temperatures rise to around 800ยฐC โ€“ 1,000ยฐC. In dense coniferous forests, these values can be even higher. โ€ข Extreme Hotspots: In the most intense flame cores โ€” where wind pumps oxygen and resins/gases ignite โ€” temperatures can reach 1,100ยฐC โ€“ 1,200ยฐC. These temperatures melt aluminum and soften or melt glass, destroying many materials. (Pure iron melts at 1,538ยฐC.) ๐ŸŒฒ The Hidden Danger in Boreal Forests: Underground Fires Beneath boreal forests lies a thick layer of peat and organic soil, sometimes several meters deep. This layer is responsible for the most persistent and insidious part of these wildfires: โ€ข Even after surface flames are extinguished, the peat layer continues smoldering at 300ยฐC โ€“ 600ยฐC. โ€ข These underground fires can burn for months, even under snow cover. They are known as โ€œzombie firesโ€ (overwintering fires). โ€ข Zombie fires destroy root systems, organic soil structure, and entire ecosystems. Months after the surface fire ends, they can reignite and spark new wildfires.๐Ÿ‘‡ #CanadaWildfires #Wildfires2026 #Biodiversity #ClimateChange #smoke

Watching Fran talk about her home in Altadena broke me. The enormity of the loss in the LA area is hard to comprehend and is ongoing as the fires continue to expand and new ones pop up. For people who either donโ€™t live in LA or have never lived in LA, thereโ€™s this idea that everyone impacted by the fires is wealthy and doesnโ€™t need support. Nothing could be further from the truth. While there are some very wealthy people who have lost their homesโ€”people who have the resources to rebuildโ€”there are so many people who have been impacted by the fires who desperately need support. People in communities like Altadena, where fires have ravaged so many homes, are, for the most part, not wealthy. Many of them have lived in their homes for decades and bought them when Altadena was a much more affordable community. There are also many renters who have been impacted by the fires. And this doesnโ€™t even address all of the hourly workers who have lost customers and clients now that so many houses have burned down. I have linked to two GoFundMe pages below. The first is the GoFundMe Foundationโ€™s fundraiser, which will provide grants to people in need. Since the money is going to the foundation, your donations are tax-deductible. The second link is for a page that lists GoFundMe pages that GoFundMe has verified and authenticated. You can feel comfortable that your donations to any of these pages (the listing of verified pages is over 13 pages long) will go to people in need. There will be so much more to do. Angelina Jolie Has Finally Woken Up To The Fact The United Nations & Governments Are Run By Heartless Criminals Thereโ€™s No Accountability For Crimes โ€œIf Thereโ€™s A Business Interest Involvedโ€ โ€œThat is the biggest that is the most disheartening thing of I think we we or I thought at least even 20 years ago when I started to work internationally that there was this I in my head, some weird idea of good guys. You know? Some idea of those whether it be certain countries or certain people's maybe it was this holdover from World War 2 and this thought that this was, like so that the lines were clear and that there was going to be these human rights goals laid out and that there would be things stood up for, and that if these things weren't done, there would be pushback, and these were the and I really thought that's what it was. I even thought that's what the United Nations wasโ€ฆ And I thought, okay. There's a there's some lines in the sand. There's some understanding. We're gonna grow and fight for improvements in these areas. And and to watch to watch and understand more and more how it's just simply that's not what it is. That's not the world. The world is not these are human rights. It is these are human rights sometimes for these people, maybe sometimes for these people, never for these people. Yeah. It's food aid, 6% for these people, 50% for these people, it's justice for these people, but not these people. Accountability for this crime, but not that crime if there's business interest. And this is truly the ugly state of of so much of the world that we are just becoming more and more aware of for just about every I mean, I don't know any countries that are are clean of it and, um, and willing to hold a line really consistently hand on behalf of the of human rights and lawsโ€
