THE LASTING DAMAGE OF A “CHEAT” AT THE FIRST BRAZIL DLC! Worlds invites should be earned with skill and INTEGRITY. It’s already abysmal that the World Champion does not get an invite to Continentals. This is the previous World Champion… should they not be able to defend their title? I hate to glaze but when that same champ keeps performing, making top cut in almost every event, always getting close, and then finally, when he is one win away in the last round, he loses to a player who was caught on camera earlier that day “cheating”… it really is tragic. I understand you cannot always prove intent. Mistakes happen, and I do not think prizing should be stripped from someone over one situation. However, a Worlds invite should be held to a different standard. That is where the best of the best are supposed to meet. A Worlds invite should not just be about event placement, it should also represent competitive integrity. Frederico ending up with a booster box prize instead of a Golden Mickey… Him/DKP were directly impacted by that loss, and when the difference is that massive, “here’s a box” feels like a terrible consolation prize. At the very least, they should be properly compensated and invite retroactively passed down. If there is documented cheating, or even a major competitive blunder that directly impacted the result, that Worlds invite should be voided and passed down accordingly. Not because of hate. Not because of bias. Because consistency matters. This is what puts Ravensburger and tournament organizers in such an awkward position. Either they were overly harsh and specifically targeted Clement for the angle shot incident in Australia by banning him from Worlds, or they stay consistent and apply that same standard here. You cannot punish one player for a documented competitive issue and then look the other way when it happens somewhere else just because the situation is inconvenient. I am not going to sit here and argue whether the double ink was intentional or not. As an Amber Steel player, I know a lot of decisions run through your head in those moments. But this looked like a very simple hand. The extra ink directly contributed to the win, and the sequence was fast, clean, and immediate. There was not much hesitation there to strongly sell simple forgetfulness. - he went back and flipped the ink … paused and inked again fast …. Change of pace, body language - counting and situation all suspicious …. Heading into the 2008 NFL Draft, the Ravens were focused on securing their quarterback of the future as they prepared to move away from Kyle Boller. The Ravens initially had their sights set on Matt Ryan. Reports later revealed that Ozzie Newsome even offered the entire 2008 draft class to the St. Louis Rams to leapfrog the Atlanta Falcons and move up to the No. 2 overall pick. The deal nearly happened, but the Rams demanded even more, and it fell through. Ryan was a Falcon. Undeterred, the Ravens maneuvered on draft day. They first traded down with the Jacksonville Jaguars (dropping from No. 8 to No. 26), then traded back up with the Houston Texans to land at No. 18 overall, where they selected Joe Flacco out of the University of Delaware. This made Flacco the first FCS quarterback taken in the first round since the late Steve “Air” McNair was selected third overall by the Houston Oilers in 1995 out of Alcorn State. The plan was for Flacco to sit and develop behind veterans Kyle Boller and Troy Smith in his rookie year. Fate had other ideas as Boller suffered a season-ending shoulder injury in the preseason and Smith came down with a severe tonsil infection that developed into the rare and serious Lemierre’s syndrome. With both ahead of him sidelined, Joe Flacco was thrust into the starting role. He started Week 1 against the Cincinnati Bengals and never relinquished the job, leading the Ravens to an 11–5 record and the AFC North title in his rookie season. Flacco quickly became known for his cannon arm, one of the prettiest deep balls and spirals in the league, and - most enduringly - for one of the most dominant postseason runs in NFL history. In the 2012 playoffs, he orchestrated a magical run that culminated in the franchise’s second Super Bowl victory, where he earned Super Bowl MVP honors. RHP Coleman Crow Acquired: 28th round selection by the Angels in 2019 draft, eventually traded to the Brewers from the Mets in exchange for Adrian Hauser & Tyrone Taylor Measurables: 6’0”, 175 lbs, 23 years old Cliff Notes: Crow has been dealt twice now in trades for proven MLB talent. Never pitching in the Mets’ system due to a Tommy John surgery, he saw some success in the Angel’s system. Pitching at AA in 2022 and starting there again in 2023, Crow posted a 4.38 ERA across 152 innings (28 games). His 24.8% strikeout rate and 6.4% walk rate in AA reflect his strengths well. He pounds the strike zone and controls his pitches. Crow has a low-90’s 4-seamer that he releases from his low slot. From that same slot, he throws his best offering - a horizontal sweeping, vertical dropping, high-spin curveball that sits below 80-mph. Additionally, Crow throws a mid-80’s slider with horizontal sweep and rarely throws his fading change-up. Crow’s ability to sneaky release and ability to control sets him up to one day be able to fill out a rotation or be a long reliever. Crow was a 28th rounder in the 2019 draft, but was paid an approximately 5th round slot bonus that the Angels dumped on him. With the 2020 season lost to COVID, Crow debuted in 2020 getting his feet wet at Single A and the Arizona Fall League. He followed that up with a strong 2022 performance in AA Rocket City and continued there to start 2023, prior to an elbow injury. In AA, he had a low 4’s ERA, as noted above. Averaging over a strikeout per inning, he averaged just over two walks per game. Opponents hit Crow with about a .240 opponent batting average, leading to a 1.204 WHIP. Nearly 50% of contact induced was a ground ball with under 20% being line drives. So far in his career, Crow has done a good job eluding hard contact. Crow throws a fastball that sits low-90’s with a flat approach that fools hitters in the top of the zone. His curve sits below 80-mph and posted elite spin and movement in AA (notably with a tacked ball). The curve has vertical dive, but more importantly elite horizontal sweep across the plate. He throws a faster, mid-80’s slider that also has nearly a foot of sweep. His fourth, and sparsely used, offering is a change-up that tails arm side. Crow throws a strike nearly three quarters of his offerings with solid command, which allows him to miss barrels. Shut down from an inflamed elbow since April ‘23, he underwent Tommy John surgery in summer of 2023. His return from Tommy John will be worth a watch. Hopefully he maintains his command and progress made to this point in his career so that he can resume his career path. For me, my road to recovery has been deeply personal and spiritual. I turned inward and upward — relying on my own personal drive, the love of my mom, dad and family and most importantly, my faith in God and his perfect love and support. Since Dec. 4, 2023, I have spent every day (except for Sundays) in either prehab, surgery or rehab. Six days a week without fail. It’s a grueling process. There are no shortcuts. There is no other way but through it. And I’m so grateful to Jaedyn Shaw for introducing me to the most incredible PT who, next to my God and family, has been by my side every day — Brandon Browning. Last Monday, at 23 weeks following my surgery, I passed my strength test that let me start the return to play process. I want to thank God for his miracles and his goodness, my parents for their unending love and support, Brandon Browning for continuing to push me every single day, and Coach Rockwood and all the coaches at BYU Women’s Soccer. I would not be here today without them. On July 1, I report to BYU and I have Aug. 15 circled on my calendar — it’s our first non-conference, regular season game against Wisconsin Badgers. Here Abdul Carter defends his public trashing of his teammate, Jaxson Dart, and causing a national ruckus on social media. As a lifelong New York Giants fan, I'm disgusted by Abdul Carter. Carter, on social media, called out his teammate Jaxson Dart, the NY Giants QB, for having the temerity to introduce the President of the United States at an event in New York. The content of Dart's introduction was innocuous, and non partisan. Here's what Carter says: "Some things are bigger than football, and this is one of those things. Jaxson is one of our leaders - he's the face of our franchise. He represents himself and what he does, and he represents all of us. If he chooses to align himself with a man like President Trump, it's my responsibility based on what I believe and what I stand on to not only show my teammates that I'm against that, but to show the world." And exactly why does Carter think he has a moral duty to trash his teammate to the world over a difference in political outlook? But here's the thing. Carter says he idolizes Giants great Lawrence Taylor, who is an outspoken supporter of President Trump, who actively campaigned for President Trump. So doesn't Carter have any problem with Lawrence Taylor? Carter arrogantly even asked the team to be able to wear Lawrence Taylor's #56 . . . . . . even though Carter had only arrived as a rookie, had not played a single game for the Giants, and had not yet achieved anything on the field for the Giants.
