Since Bishop Robert Barron has now publicly disavowed Carrie Prejean Boller (who did nothing wrong), I think it’s appropriate to recall what His Excellency told Ben Shapiro in 2018, when Shapiro asked him point-blank, “What’s the Catholic view on who gets into Heaven and who doesn’t? … Am I basically screwed here?” “No,” said Barron — to a man who rejects Our Lord. “The Catholic view — go back to the Second Vatican Council [which] says it very clearly. I mean, Christ is the privileged route to salvation.” Source: Where does Vatican II teach that Christ is “the privileged route to salvation”? It doesn’t. On the contrary, the Council says that Christ is “the one Mediator and the unique way of salvation”: “Basing itself upon Sacred Scripture and Tradition, it [the Council] teaches that the Church, now sojourning on earth as an exile, is necessary for salvation. If Jesus is risen and no longer on the Cross, why do Catholics still have Jesus on the Cross (the crucifix)? An interesting question from a follower here. First, the crucifix is cross with the body of Christ. The crucifix is not a denial of the Resurrection. Rather, it is a reminder of the sacrifice through which our salvation was won. As St. Paul says, “We preach Christ crucified” (1 Corinthians 1:23). Christianity is rooted in the saving love of Christ manifested on the Cross. By showing Christ crucified, the Church reminds us that our redemption came at the price of His suffering and self-giving love. Second, the cross without Christ is simply a piece of wood. It is the sacrifice of Jesus upon the cross that gives the Cross its essence and power. The crucifix therefore keeps before our eyes the price of our redemption. Third, the crucifix also emphasizes that the Eucharist is the same sacrifice of Calvary made present sacramentally. It is on this ground that a crucifix is required on or near the altar during Mass. It visually connects the celebration of the Mass with Christ’s sacrifice on the Cross. So, Catholics do not keep Christ on the Cross because He is still there; He is truly risen. We display the crucifix because the Cross is where our salvation was won. The empty tomb proclaims that Christ is risen; the crucifix reminds us how much He loved us.

The level of ignorance that the enemies of eternal salvation bring to the table is staggering. All because you don’t want to believe simple facts. 1. When salvation is given to anyone, that fellow has become a NEW CREATURE by God’s Spirit in Him. Salvation is not a tablet given to someone, salvation is a life raising the spiritually dead person to life, replacing his spiritual death with God’s life. Salvation is not something given you, in salvation, the saviour makes you a NEW PERSON!! See how Jesus describes eternal life in the believer. “I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.” John 6:51 KJV He SHALL LIVE FOREVER!! Clearly the bread Jesus gives the man makes the man!! “and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” John 10:28 KJV They shall NEVER PERISH! James Talarico says “all religions of love point to the same truth.” But Christianity teaches the opposite. In John 14:6, Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” You can respect other religions but you can’t claim they all lead to God. Christianity is exclusive in its claim that salvation is through Christ and Christ alone. It doesn't come as a surprise that Talarico is essentially a universalist who claims to be a Christian and uses some Christian tenets, but actually doesn't believe in the exclusivity of Christ.

As St. Thomas Aquinas taught: “After the Passion of Christ, the legal ceremonies were not only dead but deadly.” (Summa Theologiae I–II, q.103, a.4) The Cross fulfilled what those sacrifices foreshadowed. To restore them would deny the fulfillment of Christ. Catholics can have no part in such practices.
