His three tank mates - Shlomi, Shoham, and Yuli - were all killed. Asaf suffered from burns over 85% of his body. He was in a coma for a few weeks. One year ago today Charlie was on the campus of Grand Canyon University - registering students to vote, but more importantly, doing what he loved most - investing in the next generation. For Charlie, the youth were everything. He saw a generation burdened by debt, cultural confusion, and a loss of purpose. But he never saw them as hopeless. He saw them as the key to America’s future. That’s why he poured his life into them, challenged their views, and reminded them that their voice mattered. Charlie died doing what he loved.

Almost 3 weeks ago, Charlie stood in front of General Douglas MacArthur’s statue in Incheon South Korea and read these words out loud: “There is no boundary in justice, nor is there any obstacle to struggle, mountain or sea. A man who executed such a struggle in the spirit of justice, to the triumph of the cause of the free world and to the gratitude and admiration of mankind, is the man whom this statue represents. General Douglas MacArthur was born in the United States of America on January 26, 1880, the second son of General Arthur MacArthur. A half-century military career, from second lieutenant to five-star general, studded with many brilliant actions, was crowned by the Japanese surrender and his appointment as Supreme Commander of the occupational forces in that defeated nation. With the surrender of Japan came Korean independence, but unfortunately the country became grievously divided. And worse, on June 25, 1950, the Communists from the North launched an attack against this Republic. Instantly, the American Government decided to come to our rescue and General MacArthur was ordered to command the forces joined in battle against the Communist aggressors. It was here at Inchon that we knew the incalculable height of his genius: with the infinite capacity of his vision he conceived, and on September 15, 1950, he personally executed an almost unbelievable landing operation, which instantly turned the course of the war to the triumph of freedom and the salvation of this Republic. This is a deed, and this is a man to hold eternally in honored memory. And thus it is by the authority and the contributions of a grateful people that the General Douglas MacArthur Statue Committee, consisting of representatives from all walks of life, has raised this figure fashioned in General MacArthur’s heroic mold by Professor Kyung Seung Kim to overlook this hallowed scene for all ages to come. We shall never forget what he and his valiant officers and men of the United Nations Command did here for us and for freedom. What followed was years of relentless training, discipline, and sacrifice. From Great Lakes to Coronado, from airborne school to SEAL qualification, he pushed himself beyond limits most will never understand. He became one of the few … an elite Navy SEAL. Nathan served with SEAL Team EIGHT, deployed overseas, learned Arabic, and returned again and again to serve wherever he was needed. His life was defined not by comfort, but by commitment, to his country, to his teammates, and to something bigger than himself. In July 2007, he joined the Naval Special Warfare Development Group. On February 4, 2008, in Iraq, Nathan Hardy was killed in action. He was 29 years old. He was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery. This man, who is around 50 years old, had always dreamed of buying a motorcycle in his youth. But because of financial struggles and the responsibility of raising and supporting his family, he could never afford to buy his dream bike. Now that his children have grown up and started earning, he finally came to a motorcycle showroom today to buy the bike he had dreamed of owning. As he purchased his dream bike after 24 years, he became emotional. It was the same bike he could not afford to buy 24 years ago. He quietly sat down on the floor and kept looking at the motorcycle with tears in his eyes. It was as if all the emotions he had carried inside for years had finally come out. He had waited so long to fulfill this one dream. In life, some people get everything easily, while others have to wait 24 years just to buy a single motorcycle.

After brutal mob attacks in Alabama, including the firebombing of a bus in Anniston and savage beatings in Birmingham and Montgomery, more activists joined. The movement quickly expanded beyond the original 13. By the end of 1961, more than 400 Freedom Riders had participated across the South. Many were arrested and sent to Mississippi’s notorious Parchman Prison. Hezekiah Watkins At just 13 years old, Watkins became the youngest Freedom Rider ever arrested. His involvement happened almost by accident when he went to the Jackson, Mississippi, Greyhound station to see the riders arrive. We said goodbye to my father today. George Mathew, known by Sunny to friends & family, was truly a one of one. From being born to unimaginable hardships in India, to coming to America with only $20 in his pocket ($7 of which that he spent on beer in London), to becoming a successful business man and father, he was the embodiment of “beating the odds” and living the American dream. I owe my life to his sacrifice. This is my favorite photo of us two, taken recently on my engagement this year. Dad was battling late stage cancer at this point but didn’t hesitate to be there on my special day because he wanted to see me mark the beginning of my new life as a grown man. And, even in that amazing moment, I was so excited to just get a hug and approval from my dad. Cheers to the honor of being your son and knowing we’ll get to dance together again in the future. RIP Pops ❤️ 3/19/59-7/20/23.

Despite this, he lives in harsh humanitarian conditions inside a tent that lacks the most basic necessities of life, and he suffers from extreme heat every day. Amid all this suffering, the child had a very simple dream: to ride in a car and go for a drive. Today, we were able to fulfill one of his small dreams, and we saw joy filling his face and heart. Sometimes the simplest wishes are the most beautiful, and the simplest moments have the greatest impact on children’s lives.

Mind you Jeffree used to go by any pronouns and was fine with being called a woman a few years ago. He was also supportive of people using any pronouns they felt comfortable with. He’s no longer able to collab with people due to his shitty behavior so now he’s catering to conservatives so he can sell his makeup. It’s crazy that a few years ago he was talking about how much internal work he’s done on himself to become less hateful and now he’s arguably more hateful than he ever was. He was friends with trans creators in the makeup community for years and collabed with them many times. He even bragged about how diverse his company was and that he employs trans people. He said how he admired them for being themselves despite backlash. He’s full of shit and I hope he knows his new community has zero love for LGBTQ people and will discard him with zero hesitation. 14 months ago, we were reporting the last time from #Pokrovsk. A city, already reduced from 65,000 to 10,000 inhabitants back then. While Russian bombs were falling outside, beginning to destroy Pokrovsk, I had some of the best Georgian food ever in one of the last working restaurants. For me, it was an impressive display of perseverance, of incredible calm, and of a belief in a better future — a belief many Ukrainians still shared back then. “Russia hasn’t reached the city yet. As long as we can, we will stay,” the restaurant owner told us at the time. But Russia’s sheer lust for destruction did not spare even the courageous owners of this restaurant. He and his wife, too, are now refugees. Today, the city is utterly destroyed, emptied of its people, and part of Putin’s evil empire — an empire that spreads westward like a lethal cancer. The Russian tricolour rising amid the ruins stands as a symbol of a regime, and a nation, that stops at nothing in its attempt to rebuild a long-lost empire on blood and ashes. And that flag stands, once again, for the West’s failure to adequately support Ukrainians in their fight for freedom and independence.
