Situation in Northern Kurdistan (Turkey) is spiralling out of control. Protestors have set up barricades in some neighbourhoods and are clashing with Turkish security forces. Protestors are using fireworks, stones and Molotov cocktails to defend themselves against the Turkish security forces. The protests which have turned into riots have seen a surge of more militant groups and individuals joining the riots such as the HBDH and MAK Some reports claim that the Turkish security have began to use live bullets; until now they mainly relied on rubber bullets and water cannons. During the day Turkish security forces run targeted arrest operations with undercover officers. The situation is very reminiscent of the early stages of scenes we have witnessed from 2014-2016 Dead or wounded individuals on either side could have devastating effects on the level of escalation. RE MAK: The MAK has been active since November 2023, carrying out attacks and other activities on a regular basis. They are a decentralised movement of individuals working together for the cause of liberating Kurdistan. As of now: any claim of them being in coordination with other militant groups such as the TAK, YDGH (though both formerly don’t exist anymore) or the Kurdish workers party (PKK) military wing HPG is wrong. For better understanding: anyone who is currently protesting against the Turkish regime could in theory take a video of his actions and send it to the MAK; that’d make you a member of the MAK (it’s more of a movement than a group) RE footage on social media: Please be aware; groups and individuals with different motives are mixing in footage from 2015/16 to create a narrative of protestors being overly violent, armed and under the command of other factions.

#WATCH | Delhi | On Supreme Court grants full pension to women SSC Officers denied permanent commission, Advocate SS Pandey says, “Today, Supreme Court has passed a historical order, the bench was presided by the CJI, in respect of women officers of all the three services – Army, Navy and Air Force. The SC has recognised the fact that since women officers were not being considered for PC, the inputs to derive the merits of the women officers have not been done properly because the reporting officers were not conscious of the fact that these Annual Confidential Reports and other credentials would be used for consideration of PC for the women officers… In the Army, the SC has already found that the women officers have been subjected to systemic discrimination through the cases of Babita Punia and Nitisha… The SC clearly held that all those officers who have completed 60% of qualifying service and were clear from the PC and vigilance angle will be considered and granted PC. The officers who have been victims of systemic discrimination will be permitted to serve for 20 years and will be given a pension on completion of 20 years… In the Air Force’s case, the consideration denied earlier was based on a 2019 policy in which the inputs that were taken into consideration were those that women officers could not have earned during their service. As a result, they were denied PC. Both the male and female officers have been granted consideration for PC or pension… The same goes with the Navy because it was also following a policy of no PC to either men or women… They have also been considered for PC… “

Acting on a tip-off about the sale of ganj in the Pulianthope, a team from the Basin Bridge Police Station, led by Sub-Inspector Krishnakumar and other personnel, conducted a raid on a house in Gandhi Nagar Fifth Street on Sunday night. The house belonged to Nandakumar, 26, who is listed as a history-sheeter by the police. During the search, officers seized 29 packets of ganja weighing a total of 10 grams and six syringes from the premises. Police said women present in the house initially objected to the search and attempted to prevent officers from carrying out the raid. After Nandakumar was arrested and police attempted to take him into custody, his mother and other female relatives assaulted the officers. According to police, the officers used force to protect themselves and bring the situation under control. A video showing the confrontation between police personnel and the family members subsequently went viral on social media platforms. Nandakumar was taken to the Basin Bridge Police Station, where a case was registered against him under relevant provisions relating to possession of narcotic substances. He was inquired further. In a related development, Nandakumar’s mother, Meena, went to the police station and demanded her son’s release. Police said she injured her wrist with a razor blade during the protest and argued with officers inside the station premises. She was later sent away after intervention by police personnel. The Basin Bridge police registered a separate case against Nandakumar’s relatives for obstructing and assaulting police personnel during the raid.

Groups like these use social media to recruit, then gather in person to work out, participate in combat sports and disseminate white nationalist propaganda. CBS News' Lauren Fichten spoke with experts on extremism who said these groups have expanded to all 50 states in less than two years.

Citizens in Tehran have reported seeing armed and untrained teenagers manning temporary checkpoints, searching vehicles, or being sent to the scenes of missile strikes. This measure has been taken amid escalating conflict and a severe shortage of manpower. The Islamic Republic has a long history of using children and teenagers in military and security operations, a practice that dates back to the Iran-Iraq War. During that conflict, thousands of children and adolescents, some even under 15, were sent to the front lines through school-based Basij mobilization, driven by ideological and religious incentives (such as promises of martyrdom and paradise). Police, Customs, and military personnel clashed in Bawku yesterday, with several warning shots fired over a misunderstanding regarding a Kia Rhino truck suspected of illegally transporting cocoa to a neighboring country. According to information obtained from key sources by EDHUB, officers from the Ghana Police arrested a Kia Rhino truck after it managed to beat some security barriers while heading toward the border. The police officers were transporting the vehicle to their station under the instruction of their commander when they were intercepted by Customs officers, who insisted on taking over the vehicle and sending it to Pulmakom.
