IAS officers undergo two years of training before their field posting - one year at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie and another year... of field experience. Under the Assistant Secretary Programme, before their official postings, the fresh batch of IAS officers is attached to the Government of India for 3 months, which provides them exposure to the functioning of the central government. Assigned to different ministries, they are given the opportunity to suggest improvements for the specific departments. They are also asked to prepare a presentation with new ideas, which is then presented to the Prime Minister. I am in Turks and Caicos Islands, where I am meeting with a contingent from the Jamaica Constabulary Force. These officers have been instrumental in helping to reduce crime here in the islands. Our officers are exceptionally well trained, and their presence here is a testament to that training. The Government of the islands is pleased with the work these officers have been doing under the leadership of Commissioner Fitz Bailey. I had the pleasure of inspecting our officers and speaking with them about the important work they have been carrying out here.

CM Fellowship: Where Young Ideas Meet Governance Attended the Chief Minister Fellowship Programme Appreciation and Commencement Ceremony 2026. The Chief Minister Fellowship Programme, launched in 2015, was envisioned to bring the fresh perspectives, creative thinking and field-based approach of young professionals into governance while creating meaningful learning opportunities through close engagement with the administrative system. The collaboration with IIT Bombay is giving the programme a more structured and academically grounded approach, further strengthening this exchange between young talent and public administration. Over the years, Fellows have made valuable contributions across several areas. Their inputs helped shape Maharashtra’s Startup Policy, supported the strengthening and repurposing of the Maharashtra State Innovation Society, and contributed to the development of district-level war rooms that enabled data-driven monitoring, ground-level assessment and more accurate evaluation of government programmes. Fellows have also contributed significantly to initiatives such as the Mukhyamantri Samruddha Panchayat Raj Abhiyan, various housing schemes including Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, and efforts to create better market linkages for products made by farmers and women’s Self-Help Groups. Their field interventions have demonstrated how fresh ideas, when combined with administrative experience, can translate into meaningful outcomes on the ground. At #Mussoorie’s Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration #LBSNAA, it was an unusual but rewarding interaction with a group of IAS officers from batches across the year 2002 to around 2008, who were returning to the Academy for Mid-Career Training after having put in around two decades of service in their respective cadres. Glad that Director Sh Sriram Taranikanti accepted my suggestion that instead of delivering a one-way lecture to them, I shall prefer engaging in an informal candid two-way dialogue and try to understand what has been their experience in all these years and what do they expect from us. I firmly believe, it is time to discard feudal models of long discourses and instead, learn to learn from each other. #DoPT

The Niceaunties AI Video Grant At Fellowship, we believe in creating an environment for experimentation and the development of ideas. That is why, when niceaunties proposed a grant program for mentorship and the creation of AI videos, we immediately said yes. The program will help support six artists, to create a Solo Show for the Fellowship Daily program. The commitment is to produce 8 new videos based on a theme proposed by Niceaunties. This will be an open call for all the Daily Artists and the AI video community at large. Everyone is welcome to reply/submit a video for consideration. Each grantee will receive a total of 2ETH provided by Niceaunties and Fellowship, as well as mentorship from Niceaunties and alejandro cartagena. We encourage artists applying to consider this grant as a space of critical feedback and of experimentation. Selston High School. Today I asked the Government about Selston High School, 25% of which is currently closed off due to structural issues in the building. To that end I am supporting the school in submitting a bid to the Government to have the school rebuilt through the School Rebuilding Programme. This programme is a continuation of the one in which Ashfield School and Outwood Academy Kirkby's respective bids were successful after I supported their bids. I asked the Minister to ensure that Selston High School also gets the money for the school to be rebuilt.
