WATCH | Massive flooding was seen along Leopold Takawira Street in Harare’s CBD, next to Harare Town House, after heavy rains. The water rose so high that even the pavement was covered by flowing water. Harare’s CBD has been experiencing similar flooding problems because of poor drainage. Many drainage pipes are blocked and receive little or no maintenance from the Harare City Council.

This is how bad and pathetic the water situation in Zimbabwe’s capital city, Harare, has become. A borehole is being drilled on Kaguvi Street, outside HT Tyres. This is what corruption does to a country, central government controls everything in councils, resulting in this collapse. In cities like Harare, the need for boreholes reflects how corruption and central government interference have crippled local authorities, stripping them of the capacity to provide basic services. Boreholes in central business districts indicate that the municipal water supply system has failed. In a functioning city, clean and reliable piped water should be standard, particularly in central areas. Most of Harare, including the most affluent areas, does not receive piped water at all. The Water Act clearly states that Central Government (ZANUPF Government) should build dams! This has not been done due to rampant historic corruption. Harare and its dormitory towns rely on Lake Chivero, which was constructed by the colonial government in 1952 to provide clean drinking water for Harare and its surrounding areas, with a total population of 300,000 people. Today, it serves the Harare metropolitan area and satellite towns such as Chitungwiza, Epworth, Norton, and Ruwa with a total population of around 4.5 million people. The same lake that provides drinking water also receives untreated sewage. Residents have resorted to boreholes, sadly, something the last colonial ruler Ian Smith predicted would happen. How tragic that predictions once dismissed as racist have now come to pass.

Over the weekend, I visited a friend in Dzivarasekwa (DZ) Extension in Harare & this is how the road looks like. Poignantly, the roads that used to be tarred & paved are now dust roads. Lakes have emerged in the midst of the roads. As motorists, when we are driving in the Ghettos of Harare, we are no longer driving on the left side of the road, but we are now driving on what's left of the road, that is if there is still anything left of the road at all. Jacob Mafume, Mayor of Harare, Jacob Mafume are you still the Mayor of Harare? If so, what you Mayoring in Harare when things are like this? 💔😥

The AVERAGE citizen wants to see a CLEAN HARARE… A Harare with clean running water, clean public toilets, & clean street - they don’t care who is doing it. For 25 years, we watched as Chamisa & his colleagues ran down the Sunshine City. President President of Zimbabwe intervened: He fixed the city roads, built an Interchange, brought a PPP to fix water issues, and today he unveiled equipment for a PPP that will focus on Solid Waste Management. Harare is the Capital City of Zimbabwe, it MUST be the epitome of order and modernity! The people of Harare must stop voting for incompetent opposition councillors.

These are our living Heroes and Heroines. The City of Harare Fire Brigade this morning doused a fire at Regal Star Building along George Silundika Street in the CBD. The crowd cheered on as fire fighters made sure they contained the fire from razing the building to the ground and ultimately spreading to nearby buildings. Received via WhatsApp: Mayor of Harare, Jacob Mafume below is a message I received from a concerned citizen in Harare. It’s being said there is a mining activity happening at corner Harare Drive and Acturus Road less than 50 metres from residential area of Donnybrook Drive, New Mandara. This work is said to being carried out by the Chinese who were given permit to dig illegally in the residential area. Is this something you can look into and provide information pertaining to what is going on? I have attached videos sent to me by a resident of the area.
