Maria Jose Marin had an incredible answer when asked by Brentley Romine about the relationship with her dad. "He's always been my role model. He's been by my side since I started playing golf. He was the one that taught me the love for this game. "He decided this year that he can't be on the bag. He had the experience with me last year. He said, you need someone that knows. I love you with all my heart, but you need someone that knows how to handle a tournament of this level. I think it was one of the most beautiful decisions that he could have ever made because he was totally selfless. He was like, I know that you need someone else, but I'm going to be there supporting you."

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson reveals his dad was kicked out at 13 after laying a man out cold with a shovel "It was Christmas. My dad's dad had died a year earlier, and there was a new boyfriend in the mix. He came over, and they had their turkey, and the boyfriend got drunk and peed on the turkey" "My dad was 13, they got in a fight. My dad took a toy gun, and he drew a line in the dirt, and said, 'If you cross that, I'm going to take this shovel, and I'm going to kill you.' And then he was drunk, he crossed the line, my dad at 13 grabbed the shovel, laid him out cold as a block of ice" "Cops came. As he was out, the cops looked at my grandmother and said, 'When he gets up, one of two things are going to happen. Either he's going to kill him, or he's going to kill him. One of them got to go.' And my grandmother looked at my dad and said, 'You're out.' At 13"

Rob Gronkowski says Tom Brady told him he would never throw him the ball again after he ran the wrong route during practice his rookie year “I didn’t really like him my rookie year. He was just getting on my case nonstop, and it was kind of mind fucking me so much that I couldn’t be myself out there sometimes. I couldn’t run the right route because I was just thinking so much. There was just so much on the plate at first. I got a coach telling me to do this, I got Tom telling me to do this, and then finally, you just figure it out and it all clicks” “It took me about halfway through my rookie year, and then obviously, going into my second year, it clicked to a whole other level. We went for 21 touchdowns total, including the playoffs. But my rookie year, he was on my case. I remember I ran a flag route, and I ran inside the guy instead of getting outside of him. He flipped out on me in the meeting after practice and told me he’s never going to throw me the ball again” “I got butt hurt and Alge Crumpler saw it too. He just tapped on my thigh. He was like, ‘Yo, Gronk, don’t worry about that. Tom’s just being Tom. Keep doing you.’ Then it kind of put a fire under my ass. That’s what Tom was so great at doing. I didn’t really realize that’s what he was doing either. He was just trying to get the best out of you, and it lit a fire under my ass” “Then I just wanted to prove Tom wrong. Like, ‘All right, I’m going to run this flag route every time now, and you’re never going to throw me the ball, but I’m going to be open by five yards, and you’re going to look like the idiot now.’ That happened, and then he threw me the ball about 600 more times from there on out”

Von Miller reveals after Texas A&M coach Mike Sherman suspended him, he packed everything he owned into his truck and started driving to Florida to transfer, when he called his he dad told him not to quit, so he turned around and led the nation with 17.5 sacks the next season “I had everything I owned in this blanket, and I went to my car. I threw it in the back and I’m driving home. I called my daddy. I’m like, ‘Daddy, man, I’m leaving. Coach Sherman kicked me off the team. I ain’t coming back until I do this and that.’” “I’m thinking my dad is going, ‘All right, we’re going to find something else.’ He said, ‘Pull that truck over, turn around, and go back to school. You’re not quitting.’” “I was like, ‘That was not the answer I was looking for.’ He was like, ‘You’re not just about to quit when it gets hard. You’re going to turn that truck back around. You’re going to go back to school and you’re going to fix it.’” “I had tears going down my face. I was like, ‘Man, this is going to be so hard to fix all of this.’ I turned around. We had a meeting. Coach Sherman told my dad the exact same thing that he told me, and my dad agreed with Coach Sherman.” “There was nowhere I could go. I just had to face the music. I had to face the truth. That spring was a hard one, but I got my grades up. I made it to all my classes. I went through the checklist of everything Coach Sherman wanted me to do.” “That following year, my junior year, was the best year that I had up until that day. I led the nation in sacks. I had 17 and a half sacks. My life had totally changed. That was all a testament to running straight through the storm. The shortest way through the storm is straight. I put my head down and I worked, and my life totally changed that offseason.”

Happy Opening Day of college baseball! It was this game in my college career that changed everything. 3 home runs. My journey to professional baseball wasn’t the most normal. I was a 2-way player in college. Very average at both. I decided going into my junior year to focus just on hitting. I was basically just starting against lefties to start the year but it was going well. Then my coach told me we had a series coming up with all righties but I was going to play every game. First game? 3 homers. One being a grand slam. Tying an Old Dominion record that still stands. I went on to become a D1 All-American that year. Man do I miss college baseball ❤️

Rajon Rondo says he celebrated when TV reported Boston was sending him to Minnesota for Kevin Garnett, then won the title with the Celtics the next year “My rookie year, I wanted to get traded. I was calling my agent and my high school coach like, ‘Get me the fuck out of here. This ain’t it.’ We lost 18 straight that year” “That summer, I’m at my mom’s house and see my name on TV. It’s like seven names going to Minnesota. I’m like, ‘Oh yes, get me out of here.’ Then I’m like, ‘Damn, Minnesota, but whatever. Now I get to play’” “Danny Ainge called me like, ‘You ain’t going nowhere.’ We lost 18 straight the first year, and the following year we won a championship. I’m fighting to get out, but the Lord had a better plan for me”

Last year I was focused solely on markets.. this year is a different story.. I’ve been dealing with a personal life crisis the past few months.. and instead of trying to take my frustrations out at my desk, I take it out on the weights. A strong body leads to a strong mind. 185# cleans for reps

Hassan Whiteside went from training at the YMCA to signing a $98,000,000 deal with the Miami Heat “I was going to the YMCA to stay in shape. I'm over there lifting, running, playing pickup on the side. That was my training facility. The YMCA was my training facility” “I had a workout with the Grizzlies. I was in training camp with them, and I think me and Earl Clark were two of the last guys to get let go. And I remember going to Miami to work out, and Pat Riley personally came out on the court and worked me out. Hardest workout of my life” “I left the workout and went down to the G League. The Grizzlies' G League team sent me down there. I had a really good game. I think I had like 30 and 20 or something. My agent called me playing ‘Welcome to Miami.’ He was like, Miami wants to sign you to a four-year, non-guaranteed deal” “I ended up signing a one year, and then I signed a two year non-guaranteed deal. A lot of people don't know I wasn’t even on a guaranteed contract for a lot of the time I was with the Heat”

Unfortunately I missed out on going on the Santa Monica rollercoaster due to me being 4’9 Everywhere I go in the world I run into issues because of my height, at least in America the rollercoaster staff had a laugh and a joke with me about it instead of just straight up refusing me like they do elsewhere.

Joe Ingles on if he’ll be Nikola Jokic on the Wolves scout team “Hell yeah. I was Luka last year, got us prepared great. I’ll be whoever. I’m being one of their starters. That was the funnest part of the year for me last year, playing 400 pick-and-rolls in a few days. I’ll be whoever, but I’ll be the best version of that person. Be a bit of fun.”

Mamdani: I remember going to 26 Federal Plaza. I remember one of the happiest days of my life was when I got to become an American citizen. And then my father, last year while I was running for mayor, he had his citizenship interview. And I was terrified. I was terrified because I knew that going into that building we didn’t know anymore what it would mean for when he would come out and how he would come out.
