My brother, which law prohibits Ndebeles from running businesses in Zimbabwe? Don’t lie to justify your own failures in a country where our Minister of Finance, Deputy President, head of the army and 21% of our leaders in our country are Ndebele, yet Ndebeles are only 18% of our population. Our own President’s grandmother is Ndebele.

President Cyril Ramaphosa 🇿🇦 promised 10 000 additional labour inspectors to crack down on illegal employment practices. Where are they? The law already requires employers to verify documentation and work permits. The same government promised South Africans R 500 Million to empower the local Spaza Shop economy. Where is the R 500 Million for Spaza Shops? We will not join unguided anger, inhumanity and vigilantism. You keep voting for this government, yet you refuse to hold it accountable!

It is has been reported that the officials have also been helping South Africans who have been paid to register for illegal foreigners across the country. White South Africans or foreigners generally aren’t competing with illegal migrants for limited public resources. Most don’t live in townships or informal settlements where the pressure on public clinics, schools and low skilled jobs is felt most. Poor black South Africans do. That’s why this issue is experienced differently. It’s not about race. It’s about who is directly affected by the competition for already stretched public resources. People who live side by side with illegal migrants and rely on the same public services are naturally going to have different concerns from those who don’t. Their experiences deserve to be acknowledged, not reduced to accusations of xenophobia. I don’t know why she and everyone including the government and politicians don’t get it. I’m not directly affected by illegal immigrants but I can’t dismiss the lived experiences of people who are affected by them.
