THE REAL STORY: Law enforcement REPEATEDLY ordered David Black and his fellow agitators to leave federal property and stop obstructing federal law enforcement from carrying out lawful operations. They did not comply. Shortly after, rioters began throwing rocks, bottles, and launching fireworks at law enforcement officers. At the time of this incident, the facility they were rioting outside of held criminal illegal aliens including gang members, drug traffickers, and other violent criminals. Obstructing law enforcement puts officers, detainees and the public at risk. Our officers followed their training to protect themselves and the public.

Thanks to ICE and our federal law enforcement partners, Juan Espinoza Martinez, a member of the Latin Kings street gang who placed a bounty on U.S. Border Patrol Commander at Large Chief Gregory Bovino, has been arrested. Federal agents in ICE and HSI are law enforcement officers. If you box them in with vehicles, it is reasonable for them to believe they are being ambushed and that the situation could turn deadly, and it is reasonable for them to use force based on those conditions.
