The scriptures God has given Christians in the Bible and in modern revelation clearly teach the need for a church. We affirm that the scriptures, ancient and modern, clearly teach the origin of and need for a church directed by and with the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ. Today, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord’s restored Church, established to teach the fulness of His doctrine and to officiate with His priesthood authority to perform the ordinances necessary to enter the kingdom of God.

Nelson gave a talk encouraging the membership of the church and the general public to address the church by its full and proper name. “Joseph Smith did not name the Church restored through him; neither did Mormon. Stop using the phrase “CHURCH HURT.” The phrase “Church Hurt” it implies THE CHURCH wronged you. THE BRIDE OF CHRIST. If I were to ask you to write a list of all the names of the people in the Church that sinned against you - what you’ll find is that ‘THE CHURCH’ didn’t hurt you… a small number of people did. This term “Church Hurt” implies that there is something categorically wrong with God’s design so now it isn’t just an attack on the Church - but on God Himself. Don’t attribute a brother or sister’s sin against you with God’s design for His people. Don’t attribute their sin to the Bride of Christ. DON’T LET WHAT A FEW PEOPLE DID TO YOU, ROB YOU OF WHAT JESUS DIED FOR.

Baptised Catholics who walk away from the true Church often claim they have “seen the light.” But let’s be clear, that is not the light. No failure of a priest. No scandal of a bishop. Not even the weakness of a Pope is ever a justification to abandon the Catholic Church. The truth is this: you don’t leave Christ because of Judas. The Catholic Church is not built on the perfection of men. it is built on Christ Himself and sustained by the Eucharist. Those who truly understand and value the Eucharist do not walk away from it. Call it what it is, not “seeing the light,” but turning away from it. Leaving the Catholic Church is synonymous with turning away from the Light.

No individual or community separated from full communion with the Catholic Church has the authority to determine what is or is not authentically Catholic. Christ entrusted the safeguarding and authentic interpretation of the deposit of faith to the Church's Magisterium, exercised in communion with the Successor of St. Peter and the bishops united with him. To be Catholic is to remain in full communion with the Church Christ founded, trusting the guidance of the Holy Spirit, who preserves His Church in the truth through every age. Let us pray for the restoration of full Christian unity, especially for the Society of St. Pius X, that full visible communion may be restored and all Christians may be one in the Church founded by Christ.
