You see the goal against Cape Verde, the heavenly first touch? the strike against Algeria, the way he brought down that shot against Egypt, these are recent wow goals from just last month😂 not penalties or tap ins, he also doesn’t try to steal people’s goals😂😂. Should we be talking about Ankara Messi, the amount of times he’s repeated Ankara Messi not just against Getafe, but against Atletico, do you know the number of solo goals Messi has scored where he’s driven the ball from midfield to beat multiple players? This is a fascinating video that I think will surprise a lot of people because it highlights the extent to which the political scene evolved in France. Le Pen - the father - was actually very pro-Iran and pro-Palestinian. As you can see in this video - dated from 2009 - he was invited by the Zahra center (a pro-Iran lobby group that's since been shut down by the French authorities: to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Islamic revolution. Le Pen describes himself as a committed "friend of Iran" because he always "sided with free nations that do not accept the diktat of other countries." He even supported the Iranian nuclear industry, saying that "Iran has the same rights as any other country in the world and if there are voices hostile to nuclear weapons they must start first by disarming those who acquired them, often secretly, in total violation of UN rules" (meaning, of course, Israel). He also said he "breathed a huge sigh of relief" that Bush didn't attack Iran. On Gaza (there was yet another Gaza conflict in 2009) he said he "was shocked to see that the great silence of world opinion, and even of Arab and Muslim opinion, when this small country was crushed," describing it as "a real concentration camp." Fair disclaimer: these views had nothing to do with anything even resembling a progressive embrace of Muslims or multiculturalism. The man was virulently anti-immigration and hostile to multiculturalism at home. It's hard to understand today because hating foreigners at home now somehow requires hating them abroad too - but back then, "Muslims out of France, long live Iran" could make sense. And funnily, in France and much of the West, Jean-Marie Le Pen's foreign policy views (not the domestic ones) are now firmly associated with the far left. Heck in France's case they're too extreme for even Mélenchon's LFI party to embrace: even they are calling Iran a "theocratic and predatory regime", and are siding with the protesters ( As for Le Pen's party today, led by his daughter, these views are basically everything they now stand AGAINST: today they're firmly pro-Israel, framing it as a civilizational ally against Islamism. When Le Pen - the father - spoke of his fear of Iran being attacked by the Americans, his party under his daughter are now openly cheering for it. This is what I love most about liberalism and the Western tradition. Regardless of what you think about Scalia and his jurisprudence, check out this charming video. “Look at my face, is it an Anglo-Saxon face? But I went to England and I felt at home. Because of our shared common culture - Shakespeare, nursery rhymes…” I could relate so much to this story - this is exactly how I felt when I visited England as a Greek Australian. I walked through London and Oxford and I felt so at home! There is a great lesson here, and I think it helps explain why liberalism ultimately defeated both fascism and communism in the twentieth century. I’ll explain why. The great liberal migrant nations - America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand - they have made it possible for people to become part of a shared national project and shared Western culture regardless of ethnic or religious background. For a thousand years my Greek Cypriot family were basically peasants or serfs tied to the land in a feudal system. When my family moved to Australia, our fortunes changed. We were liberated from the old feudal system. We could rise and fall based on merit and we could become part of the shared national project and shared common culture despite our different ethnic origins. My Papou was forced out of school in Grade 4 because his family in Cyprus were so poor. My Dad left high school in Grade 10. But they worked hard to build a life for our family in Australia with small fruit shops. They worked hard to send me to a good school where I was lucky enough to have teachers who encouraged my curiosity and interest in history and law and politics. Did I ever receive the occasional put down as a kid at school about being Greek? A couple times! But I didn’t care. I threw myself into being an Australian. I knew that was open to me regardless of my background. I grew up reading about the exploits of the bushrangers and Ned Kelly. I loved the stories of ANZAC bravery at Gallipoli and Kokoda … the kindness of Simpson and his Donkey. I loved the bush poetry of Banjo Patterson, Henry Lawson, The Man From Snowy River… I didn’t care whether some idiot kid called me “wog.” I regarded the entirety of the great Western cultural tradition as my own. I loved reading Shakespeare - Hamlet, Macbeth, King Lear, Julius Caesar, Richard III. The great literary landmarks of the Western canon from The Odyssey to Thomas Pynchon… I loved reading about the great British and Australian Prime Ministers and American Presidents. The history of FDR’s New Deal and Churchill’s fight against Nazi Germany. And studying the great philosophers of the Western canon, learning about the great Westminster tradition and the long development of liberal democratic freedoms in the Western world over a thousand years from the Magna Carta to Martin Luther King Jr. And I even loved reading about the Great Dissenters in the Western tradition, from Marx to Malcolm X to the great Eddie Mabo… Nothing in this tradition was alien to me despite growing up as a migrant to Australia. I was blessed to be a part of all of it. This was the blessing of growing up in a free and open liberal democratic society like Australia, where citizenship and inclusion was based not on race or religion or class. I could belong to a great cultural tradition spanning continents and thousands of years. And I truly believe that anybody can become a part of this great culture if they want to… When I was 22, I was invited to speak to the Oxford Union. Nobody in my family history had ever been anything, and there I was, standing on a stage that had hosted great kings and Presidents and Prime Ministers and spiritual leaders from all the great faiths of the world… simply because I was lucky enough to be born in Australia, a country where I could rise on my own individual talents if I simply studied hard enough and read widely enough. I walked through the city of dreaming spires and felt at home. Because it was!

I loved the bush poetry of Banjo Patterson, Henry Lawson, The Man From Snowy River… I didn’t care whether some idiot kid called me “wog.” I regarded the entirety of the great Western cultural tradition as my own. I loved reading Shakespeare - Hamlet, Macbeth, King Lear, Julius Caesar, Richard III. The great literary landmarks of the Western canon from The Odyssey to Thomas Pynchon… I loved reading about the great British and Australian Prime Ministers and American Presidents. The history of FDR’s New Deal and Churchill’s fight against Nazi Germany. And studying the great philosophers of the Western canon, learning about the great Westminster tradition and the long development of liberal democratic freedoms in the Western world over a thousand years from the Magna Carta to Martin Luther King Jr. And I even loved reading about the Great Dissenters in the Western tradition, from Marx to Malcolm X to the great Eddie Mabo… Nothing in this tradition was alien to me despite growing up as a migrant to Australia. I was blessed to be a part of all of it. This was the blessing of growing up in a free and open liberal democratic society like Australia, where citizenship and inclusion was based not on race or religion or class. I could belong to a great cultural tradition spanning continents and thousands of years. And I truly believe that anybody can become a part of this great culture if they want to… When I was 22, I was invited to speak to the Oxford Union. Nobody in my family history had ever been anything, and there I was, standing on a stage that had hosted great kings and Presidents and Prime Ministers and spiritual leaders from all the great faiths of the world… simply because I was lucky enough to be born in Australia, a country where I could rise on my own individual talents if I simply studied hard enough and read widely enough. I walked through the city of dreaming spires and felt at home. Because it was!

🚨WOW!!! A car flew OFF a Houston overpass and landed UPSIDE DOWN on the freeway below with three women trapped inside... ...and total strangers grabbed SLEDGEHAMMERS and their BARE HANDS and refused to let them die!! ❤️ It happened on the Southwest Freeway at Beltway 8. Police say the car was speeding down the elevated HOV lane, lost control, smashed through the barrier, went AIRBORNE, and slammed down ROOFTOP-FIRST onto the main lanes below. All three women were trapped and SCREAMING for help ...and Houston did NOT drive past. One of the men who stopped is named Jack Johnson. He didn't even see the car go off. He just saw the barrier crumble and a crushed car sitting in the middle of the road. He said something just told him to stop. He got out, ran toward it, and what he heard he'll never forget: "Get me out. Get me out. Help me! Help me!" Young women, screaming from inside a car folded nearly in half. "And I thought about my little girls," Jack said. Suddenly nearly a dozen total strangers began feverishly trying to rescue the women. One man climbed ON TOP of the car. Someone smelled gas and grabbed fire extinguishers, just in case. Others went at the metal with sledgehammers, poles, and their bare hands until the first responders showed up and those women were free. Everybody took a task. Nobody was in charge. Everybody just... helped. Miraculously...all THREE women survived!!! When it was over, everyone went back to their lives. Jack says he's still hoping to find the other men who stopped, and the three women, just to know they're okay. And when he talked about why they did it, he said this: "Houston comes together. At a time of need, we come together." Three women are going home to their families because a handful of strangers decided a wrecked car full of screaming girls was worth stopping their entire lives for and getting first responders. GOD BLESS Jack Johnson and every single stranger who ran TOWARD that car. THIS IS THE AMERICA I KNOW!!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
