Swift Humanitarian Assistance in Kargil On 02 Aug 2026, following a devastating cloudburst at Gund, Hardass (Kargil) that triggered flash floods, disrupted road connectivity and stranded local residents, troops of the Forever in Operations Division responded swiftly to the emergency. The troops evacuated affected residents, rendered first aid, distributed drinking water, essential supplies and hot meals, and remained alongside the local community despite challenging conditions. Several key projects inaugurated include the Indus View Point in Batalik, the e-Shradhanjali digital tribute platform and a QR Code Audio Gateway at the memorial, offering visitors immersive storytelling and battlefield insights. In a fierce engagement, the battalion neutralised 16 enemy soldiers, including Pakistan Army Capt Zafar Ali Changezi, delivering a decisive blow to the intruders. The brave JATs subsequently secured the adjoining tactical heights, effectively encircling the enemy, restricting its movement and paving the way for subsequent successes in the Kaksar Sub Sector. #OnThisDay | 10 Jul 1999 Muntho Dhalo : Breaking the Enemy's Stronghold 🇮🇳 On 10 Jul 1999, the gallant soldiers of 5 PARA launched a daring assault to capture Muntho Dhalo, the enemy's principal Headquarters and Administrative Base in the Batalik Sector during the Kargil War. 'B' Company, under Maj Vineeth Seth, and 'D' Company, under Maj HS Jaggi, secured the objective by mid-day with exceptional courage and determination. Under the coordination of Maj Gurpreet Singh, Battery Commander, 15 Field Regiment, the Gunners of 15 Field Regiment, 255 Field Regiment and 307 Medium Regiment delivered relentless and devastating artillery fire, enabling the assault and forcing the enemy to abandon Muntho Dhalo, leaving behind large quantities of arms and ammunition. The capture of Muntho Dhalo opened the vital Yaldor–Spring–Point 4100–Muntho Dhalo Axis and marked another decisive victory during Operation VIJAY. Meet Havildar Digendra Kumar MVC – “The Cobra of Tololing” He is one of the most decorated soldiers of the 2 Raj Rif and a living legend of the 1999 Kargil War Awarded the Maha Vir Chakra -India’s second‑highest wartime gallantry decoration - he is widely remembered as the “Cobra of Tololing” for his role in capturing the strategically vital Tololing heights. Born:3 July 1969, Neem Ka Thana, Rajasthan Awards: Maha Vir Chakra – 15 August 1999 Sena Medal – 1993 (counter‑terror operations in Kupwara) Retired:31 July 2005. From IPKF to Hazratbal Digendra Kumar joined the Army in 1985and quickly built a reputation as a fearless commando: IPKF, Sri Lanka (late 1980s): Engaged in high‑risk jungle operations against LTTE militants- shooting down insurgents, destroying ammunition dumps, and rescuing captured paratroopers. Kupwara: Conducted intense counter‑terror operations and was awarded the Sena Medal for conspicuous gallantry. Hazratbal siege (1993): Took part in operations to flush out terrorists from the Hazratbal shrine in Srinagar and was commended for his performance.
