Footage of Phil Taylor hitting incredibly rare 240 shot in darts resurfaces ahead of World Championship semis DARTS Phil Taylor is responsible for an incredibly rare 240 score which is no longer possible in darts. Taylor is quite possibly the greatest darts player in history, with a record 16 world titles to his name and an incredible 85 major titles overall. 'The Power' holds a series of impressive records, including the most televised nine-dart finishes with 11 and the first player to produce two nine-darters in the same match. But the 64-year-old also produced an uncommon 240 shot back in 1993, when competing in the UK Matchplay. The tournament took place at the Aquarius Club, Chesterfield and was televised by ITV's Yorkshire television. And in a first in the competition, Taylor threw 240 - the maximum score one could achieve with three darts. 240 was made possible because at the time, games were being played on a 'Quadro' board - which had been brought in by Harrows Darts Technology the previous year. The board featured an an extra ring between the double ring and the outer bull, which meant you could get quadruples as well as trebles. The highest possible checkout was 210 from two quadruple 20 and then the bull - but Taylor went and achieved the maximum score against Jocky Wilson, who went on to reach the final in a losing effort to Dennis Priestley. The announcer screamed "240!" as they do these days when 180s are scored. Taylor's effort is believed to be the second 240 hit captured on camera, with Wilson, Shayne Burgess, Bob Anderson and Peter Evison also later matching the achievement during the event. The board was in play for a few years but according to Patrick Chaplin, darts players were regularly confused by the fact there were so many combinations that were tough to remember. Referees and callers also had great difficulty in having to quickly work out the scores. It was discontinued in 2000 and not seen in a professional capacity for a long time but a 2025 version has been released, giving it a more modern take on the classic. On the non-standard board, an eight-dart finish from 501 is possible.

WATCH: Over 100 Navy SEALs and Veterans Rally in Washington to Support Pete Hegseth | Wow. This is epic. More than 100 Navy SEALs and veterans, along with several U.S. Congressmen and Senators, gathered in Washington, D.C., today to show their support for Pete Hegseth. Hegseth is set to begin his confirmation hearing to become the next Secretary of Defense tomorrow, January 14th. Hereโ€™s what some of them had to say about the Defense Secretary nominee: Scott O'Grady, Legendary U.S. Air Force Fighter Pilot "It's enough. We're done. The political leadership in this country has failed us. We need to back to making the Department of Defense not a political toy for them, to inject their social experiments." "The military is for one reason and one reason only. And that is to defend our country, to defend our citizens and defend our constitutional republic." โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€” Derrick Van Orden, Congressman and Former Navy SEAL "Pete Hegseth understands one thing. One thing that we all learned with him in combat. You only take the children, our children, American children to war if you have to. If you absolutely have to, is the only time you go to war." โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€” Kaj Larsen, Former Navy SEAL "Please do not discount or take for granted the idea that you have the men and the women who fought the wars of the last two decades here to endorse the new Secretary of Defense. That is the greatest evidence that he is the greatest potential leader for us in the conflicts of the future." โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€” Tim Brown, FDNY Firefighter and 9/11 Survivor "He is a patriot. He never forgets where he came from. He is a great communicator. He's a great leader. And he's going to be a great visionary as the next Secretary of Defense. Go Pete!" โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€” Bill Brown, Former Navy SEAL "These are war fighters. That's who supports Pete. That's who's on this podium. These are men and women who put it on the line for our country, and they're telling you the way it is. If you have over 100 SEALS that are going to come to Washington, D.C., you should pay attention to what we're saying."

Conor Neill's 3-minute daily challenge to become a better speaker (backed by research): "What does it take to achieve world-class? As a musician? As a sportsman? As a speaker? Is it talent? The answer is no. The answer is 10,000 hours of practice." Conor explains: "No matter where you start from, no matter how talented a kid was in school, it's the kid that practices 8 hours a day that's now playing as a soloist with the top orchestras of the world. Leo Messi wasn't born with a better right knee and a better left foot than anyone else. It's what he chose to do every day after school, every weekend, that means he is where he is today." He shares a study that proves quantity beats perfectionism: "There was a pottery class in the United States. The teacher took half the class and said, 'Your grade will be based on the weight of pots you create.' To the other half, she said, 'You'll be evaluated on your one most finished piece.' The group measured on weight, they produced 5, 6, 7 pots a day. They tried random experiments, weird things, different ideas. Their hands were on clay from the first moment. The group evaluated on the most finished pot? They read, they thought, they talked about concepts, they went to galleries, and the first time they touched clay was 3 days before the end of class. All of the best pots were made by the group that focused on weight." He gives a simple challenge: "Every laptop comes with a webcam. Spend 3 minutes every day for the next 10 days. Record yourself. Explain a product. Explain your CV. Explain your vision. Try random things because no one else has to see it." Conor concludes: "No amount of watching YouTube videos of Bill Clinton is going to turn you into Bill Clinton. No amount of reading is going to turn you into a writer. Only by speaking do you turn into a speaker."

This trauma could impact mental health on a massive scale. Especially considering billions of brainwashed people who will think the world is ending. โ€ข Such revelations could deepen existing divides within society, fostering distrust among communities. People may struggle to reconcile their beliefs about their favorite celebrities with the new information, leading to polarization. Which will play into their hatred of those they consider extremists. โ€ข A sudden upheaval of societal norms might provoke violent reactions from those who feel betrayed or threatened. This could lead to unrest, protests, or even riots, further destabilizing communities. Something the military do not have the resources to control while also trying to stop riots and the destruction of property. โ€ข If the public becomes fearful, it could be easier for certain groups to manipulate that fear to maintain control or push specific agendas, sustaining the status quo rather than dismantling it. Which will bring all of this back to square one. โ€ข Conversely, constant exposure to sensationalized news about these topics could lead to desensitization. People may become numb to the information, losing the capacity for empathy and urgency needed to address real issues. And this will no longer have the affect we fought so long for.
