![JAMES COMEY LEAKED CLASSIFIED INTELLIGENCE TO THE NEW YORK TIMES in order to push the Russia Collusion narrative onto the American people to take down Trump. Adam Schiff wasn't the only leaker of classified intel. James Comey specifically leaked classified intel to the NYT in order to enable a special prosecutor to take down Trump and conspire with other mainstream media organizations to fool and lie to the American people to push them to go against Trump with a false narrative. This is basically "Project Mockingbird." The main media channels were colluding with government in order to take down a sitting president and undermine the U.S. This has been going on since 2016 against Trump and still is to this day. The FBI concluded numerous legacy news media stories that crafted the false Russia collusion narrative contained illegally leaked classified intelligence but failed to definitively identify the leakers. But agents did force a stunning admission that ex-FBI Director James Comey used a special conduit to the Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times in his bid to polish his image and push for a special prosecutor to take down President Donald Trump. Columbia University law professor Daniel Richman admitted to agents in interviews he routinely communicated on behalf of Comey, his longtime friend, with Times reporter Michael Schmidt, whose work was among the newspaper's 2018 Pulitzer-winning stories on Russian election interference. The goal, Richman told the FBI, was "to correct stories critical of Comey, the FBI and to shape future press coverage" outside of the bureau's official press office, according to internal FBI memos that current Director Kash Patel delivered to Congress this week. While Richman was known to have been publicly quoted in news stories as an advocate for Comey, he admitted to agents โ who were part of the FBIโs Arctic Haze classified leaks inquiry โ that he was given access by Comey to what turned out to be highly classified information up to the SCI level and sometimes provided information to reporters on an anonymous basis. Richman insisted he did not believe he had confirmed or provided classified intelligence to reporters but said he could not be 100 percent, the memos state, noting he could only make his leak denial โwith a discount.โ "Richman was pretty sure he did not confirm the Classified Information. However, Richman told the interviewing agents he was sure 'with a discount' that he did not tell Schmidt about the Classified Information," one FBI memo recounted. In the end, the Justice Department decided not to pursue any criminal charges against Comey or any of his lieutenants or now-Sen. Adam Schiff despite potential evidence of leaks, saying it could not be certain of who leaked what and when. But its interrogation of Richman and his admissions of significant contact with the Times' Schmidt provide the most detailed account to date of how Trump critics like Comey โ who was fired by the president โ used the media to craft narratives that ultimately turned out to be untrue or misleadingly overstated, the memos show. Just the News also revealed this week that a career intelligence officer who worked for Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee for more than a decade repeatedly warned the FBI beginning in 2017 that then-Rep. Adam Schiff had approved leaking classified information to smear then-President Donald Trump over the now-debunked Russiagate scandal. Schiff has denied the allegation. Newly-declassified FBI memos also include details on classified leaks investigations dubbed Tropic Vortex, Foggy Falls, Riding Hood, Sirens Lure, Echos Fate, and Genetic Christmas. Comey, Richman, and โArctic Hazeโ The FBI leak investigation code-named โArctic Hazeโ revealed key details about Richman โ Comeyโs longtime friend, confidante, and media conduit โ including what was at that time his nearly decade-long source relationship with Michael Schmidt of The New York Times. The leak investigation zeroed in on four news articles which contained leaked classified information. The first was a New York Times article by four reporters โ Schmidt, Matt Apuzzo, Adam Goldman, and Eric Lichtblau โ from late April 2017 titled โComey Tried to Shield the F.B.I. from Politics. Then He Shaped an Election.โ The second was a Washington Post story by Ellen Nakashima from early April 2017 titled โNew details emerge about 2014 Russian hack of the State Department: It was โhand to hand combatโ.โ The third was another Washington Post piece by Karoun Demirjian and Devlin Barrett from late May 2017 titled, โHow a Dubious Russian Document Influenced the FBIโs Handling of the Clinton Probe.โ The fourth was a Wall Street Journal article by Holman Jenkins Jr. from late May 2017 titled, โThe Trump-Russia Story Starts Making Sense.โ The April 2017 Times article by Schmidt quoted Richman defending Comey: โJim sees his role as apolitical and independent. The F.B.I. director, even as he reports to the attorney general, often has to stand apart from his boss.โ Schmidt wrote that โconfidants like Mr. Richman say he was constrained by circumstanceโ while โnavigating waters in which every move has political consequences.โ Richman also reportedly said that Comey displayed โa consistent pattern of someone trying to act with independence and integrity, but within established channelsโ and that โhis approach to the Russia investigation fits this pattern.โ The Times article wrongly argued that, in the case of the Trump-Russia investigation, Comey โconducted the investigation by the book.โ The FBI memos show that Arctic Haze was opened by the FBIโs Washington Field Office as a media leak investigation in mid-August 2017, after a redacted source in late June 2017 โreported the unauthorized disclosure of classified information in eight articles published between April and June 2017โ and after a DOJ request at the start of August 2017. Arctic Haze was predicated on the four aforementioned stories. The FBI closed the investigation in early September 2021 โ with the DOJ charging no one with leaking classified material โ with the bureauโs closure document providing details about the FBIโs failed attempt to catch the leakers. The bureau document indicated that it had been treated as an โEspionage Investigation.โ The FBI said the โfactual predicationโ for the leak inquiry was largely based on the classified information which first appeared in the April 2017 Times piece. The FBI noted that Comey had โpublicly indicated on several occasions that classified information contributed to his decisionโ to unilaterally and preemptively announce in early July 2016 that he did not believe any reasonable prosecutor would charge Hillary Clinton over her mishandling of classified information on a private email server and his further announcement in October 2016 that the Clinton emails investigation was (briefly) being reopened. The bureau said Comey had four reasons for making the announcements the way he did, including that โComey had concerns the Classified Information, which directly related to whether or not the Attorney General [Loretta Lynch] should have been recused from the Midyear Exam investigation, would be leaked to the media or would otherwise be disclosed.โ Comey had told the Senate Intelligence Committee in July 2017 that โone significant item I canโt, I know the committeeโs been briefed on. Thereโs been some public accounts of it, which are nonsense, but I understand the committeeโs been briefed on the classified facts.โ The bureau said that, in classified testimony to a bureau watchdog, โComey confirmed the specific Classified Information, which was discussed in the New York Times article, and indicated it did impact his decision to make unilateral, public statements about the Midyear Exam [Clinton] investigation.โ Recent declassifications provide more details on the classified intelligence which swayed Comey to let Clinton off the hook, as well as revealed more information on so-called Clinton Plan intelligence which the Comey FBI seemed to ignore as it launched the Crossfire Hurricane investigation into Trump. Comey hires Richman to afford him Top Secret Clearance. The FBI said that โComey instructed the FBI to hire Richman as a Special Government Employee (SGE)โ in 2015 and โto grant him a Top Secret clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Informationโ and that โFBI records indicated Richman was hired to work on โGoing Darkโ matters.โ The bureau said its investigation โrevealed Comey also hired Richman so Comey could discuss sensitive matters, including classified information, with someone outside of the FBIโs regular leadership. Comey also used Richman as a liaison to the media.โ โThe investigation revealed Richman had been a source for Michael Schmidt, one of the reporters credited with writing the article at issue, and The New York Times since at least 2008,โ the bureau wrote. โRichman first spoke with Schmidt regarding an investigation into illegal activity in sports. Prior to Richman becoming an SGE, Schmidt visited Richmanโs house numerous times. The New York Times quoted Richman several times, both on the record and on background, in stories regarding Jim Comey. After he was terminated by President Trump, Comey used Richman as a conduit to convey to the media memoranda of his meetings with President Trump.โ โAccording to Richman, Comey and Richman talked about the โhammeringโ Comey was taking from the media concerning his handling of the Midyear Exam investigation. Richman opined Comey took comfort in the fact Richman had talked to the press about his feelings regarding Comeyโs handling and decision-making on the Midyear Exam investigation. Richman claimed Comey never asked him to talk to the media,โ the FBI notes say. The FBI wrote that โRichman recalled Comey told him there was some weird classified material related to Lynch which came to the FBIโs attentionโ and that โComey told Richman about the Classified Information, including the source of the information.โ The FBI said that โinvestigators learned that FBI Office of Public Affairs was told to assist The New York Times with the April 2017 articleโ and that โComey either directed or otherwise authorized FBIโs official assistance to The New York Times.โ Disgraced and fired FBI special agent Peter Strzok and former FBI lawyer Lisa Page, with whom Strzok was having an affair, appear to have been involved in briefing the Times, according to the bureau memos. โStrzok stated he believed FBI Executive Management told them to meet with the New York Times. Strzok said he recalled being told to provide an investigator-level briefing on the Midyear Exam investigation,โ the FBI said. โDuring the March 30, 2017, meeting, the Times told Strzok and Page they had the Classified Information.โ The โsummary of investigative stepsโ by the FBI included interviews with bureau and intelligence community officials, document reviews, phone and email records researches, the review of a 2017 โTropic Vortexโ investigation conducted by then U.S. Attorney John Durham and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and more. โBased upon discussions with DOJ, these investigative steps did not generate sufficient proof to charge any individual with willfully transmitting the Classified Information, conspiring to transmit the Classified Information, or aiding and abetting another personโs Transmission,โ the FBI concluded in 2021. The FBI claimed that โthe investigation has not yielded sufficient evidence to criminally charge any person, including Comey or Richman, with making false statements or with the substantive offenses under investigation.โ Inspector General calls Comey's leaks "unauthorized" DOJ inspector general Michael Horowitz wrote a report released in August 2019 criticizing Comeyโs decision to leak his so-called โComey Memosโ โ including details about Trumpโs alleged comments about Lt. Gen. Mike Flynn โ to the media in 2017 in an effort by the then-fired FBI director to spur the appointment of a special counsel. Horowitz wrote that his investigation โinterviewed 17 witnesses, including former Director Comey and Daniel Richman, the individual who, at Comey's request, shared the contents of one of the Memos with a reporter [Schmidt] for The New York Times.โ Comey told Horowitz that the day after being fired by Trump, he retained Richman as an attorney. โWe have previously faulted Comey for acting unilaterally and inconsistent with Department policy,โ the DOJ watchdog wrote. โComeyโs unauthorized disclosure of sensitive law enforcement information about the Flynn investigation merits similar criticism.โ Comey admitted in 2017 that he had hoped leaking this information โmight prompt the appointment of a special counsel.โ Horowitz concluded Comeyโs leaks were โan attempt to force the Department to take official investigative actions.โ โComey had several other lawful options available to him to advocate for the appointment of a special counsel, which he told us was his goal in making the disclosure,โ Horowitz wrote. โWhat was not permitted was the unauthorized disclosure of sensitive investigative information, obtained during the course of FBI employment, in order to achieve a personally desired outcome.โ Horowitz sent a criminal referral to the DOJ over Comeyโs memos at the time, but the DOJ declined to prosecute. Comeyโs leak efforts were successful, however, as Robert Mueller was appointed special counsel within days of the Comey Memo leaks making their way to the New York Times. An article in the Times penned by Schmidt was titled โComey Memo Says Trump Asked Him to End Flynn Investigationโ and was published on May 16, 2017. Then-Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed Mueller as special counsel the next day. After two years, Mueller โdid not establishโ any criminal Trump-Russia collusion. Other classified leaks inquiries also come up short, here is a list: The newly-declassified FBI memos also detail a host of other failed or botched classified leaks investigations that made their way into legacy media. They were given operational code names such as Tropic Vortex, Foggy Falls, Riding Hood, Echos Fate, and Genetic Christmas. Tropic Vortex: he Justice Departmentโs Tropic Vortex classified leaks investigation focused on an unspecified October 2016 article by The New York Times as well as an early March 2017 article written by Times reporters Schmidt and Michael Shear and titled, โComey Asks Justice Dept. to Reject Trumpโs Wiretapping Claims.โ Foggy Falls: The FBIโs Foggy Falls classified inquiry focused on a Washington Post article by three reporters โ Ellen Nakashima, Devlin Barrett, and Adam Entous โ from mid-April 2017 titled, "FBI obtained FISA warrant to monitor former Trump adviser Carter Page.โ The bureauโs Riding Hood investigation included a main focus on a Buzzfeed News article from early April 2017 written by Ali Watkins and titled, โA Former Trump Adviser Met With A Russian Spy.โ The FBI speculated that the classified information in that article may have informed a mid-April 2017 story by the Washington Post written by three reporters โ Ellen Nakashima, Devlin Barrett, and Adam Entous โ and titled, "FBI obtained FISA warrant to monitor former Trump adviser Carter Page.โ Siren's Lure: The FBIโs unsuccessful Sirens Lure classified inquiry focused on three Washington Post stories. The first was one by four reporters โ Matt Zapotosky, Sari Horwitz, Devlin Barrett, and Adam Entous โ from late May 2017 titled, "Jared Kushner Now a Focus in Russia Investigation.โ The second was an article by three reporters โ Ellen Nakashima, Adam Entous, and Greg Miller โ from late May 2017 titled, "Russian Ambassador Told Moscow that Kushner Wanted Secret Communications Channel with Kremlin.โ The third was a piece by four reporters โ David Filipov, Amy Brittain, Rosalind Helderman, and Tom Hamburger โ from early June 2017 titled, "Explanations for Kushner's Meeting with Head of Kremlin-linked Bank Don't Match Up.โ Echos Fate: The bureauโs Echos Fate classified leaks inquiry focused on two Washington Post stories. The first one mentioned by the FBI was a mid-January 2017 story by David Ignatius originally titled โFour burning questions on Russiaโ which was renamed โWhy did Obama dawdle on Russiaโs hacking?โ The second was by three reporters โ Greg Miller, Adam Entous, and Ellen Nakashima โ published in early February 2017 and titled, โOfficials Say Flynn Discussed Sanctions.โ Genetic Christmas: The FBIโs failed Genetic Christmas classified leaks investigation focused on an NBC News article written by three reporters โ William Arkin, Ken Dilanian, and Cynthia McFadden โ which was published in mid-December 2016 and was titled, โU.S. Officials: Putin Personally Involved in U.S. Election Hack.โ Series of leaks fed "blatantly false" information to media: Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard recently harshly criticized this specific leak to NBC News, as well as one to The Washington Post, arguing that they fed a false narrative that the intelligence community had already reached a conclusion on Russian leader Vladimir Putinโs intentions during the 2016 election when the Obama-ordered Intelligence Community Assessment had not yet been completed. โDeep State officials in the IC begin leaking blatantly false intelligence to the Washington Post, as proven by the unpublished PDB and previous IC products, claiming that Russia used โcyber meansโ to influence โthe outcome of the election.โ โฆ Another leak to the Washington Post falsely alleges that the CIA โconcluded in a secret assessment that Russia intervenedโ in the election to help President Trump,โ the Gabbard-led Office of the Director of National Intelligence assessed last month. As if this conflict alone wasnโt concerning, the fact that Fanning was later under an inconclusive internal investigation by the MSP for โwhether [he] failed to adequately supervise by not taking appropriate action after Trooper Proctor sent inappropriate texts to a group of subordinate members, specifically, if he took any corrective action to address the unprofessionalism and inappropriateness of Trooper Proctor's textsโโthereby making him a potential witness & demonstrating his clear conflict, is incredibly concerning. In the full sit down interview w/ #KarenRead & Attorney Alan Jackson, Ted Daniel asks them about the potential jury tampering that occurred at the first trialโnotably with the ultra curious last minute dismissal of 3 jurors, whose body language, reactions/expressions & outward demeanor appeared favorable to the defense, in addition to the โsupervisionโ of the jury by one of Michael Proctorโs bosses, NCDAO SPDU Trooper John Fanning. It would be dishonest to try to claim that Trooper Fanning had no stake in the outcome of the Karen Read trial. Arguably, anyone with ties to the NCDAO, its SPDU or the Canton Police Departmentโand notably those with close ties to Michael Proctor, like his own supervisor, have clear conflicts of interest in this case. As you may recall, Trooper John Fanning was the lead investigator in the Sandra Birchmore case where he and his investigators concluded that Birchmore committed suicide while allegedly pregnant with a fellow Police Officer, Matthew Farwellโs baby, and wasnโt the obvious victim of murder by that same Officer who also raped and groomed her from a young age as revealed by 30k+ text messages inexplicably โoverlookedโ by Trooper Nicholas Guarino & Fanning. The Feds investigated that โinvestigationโ too and have since indicted Matthew Farwell in Sandra Birchmoreโs murder. Additionally, Trooper Fanning was in one of Michael Proctorโs abhorrent group text message threads where he disparaged Karen Read. Fanning was subsequently internally investigated by MSP for this, and his failure to properly โsuperviseโ Trooper Proctorโinteresting that such a person would be chosen to โsuperviseโ the jury. In a statement from the State Police, they said: โThe Departmentโs internal affairs investigation determined that there was insufficient evidence to prove or disprove the allegation that Lieutenant Fanning violated rules and regulations by failing to uphold the responsibilities of a supervisory member. This allegation has been classified as unfounded.โ Frankly, given the circumstances of this case, it would be concerning if any member of the State Police oversaw and supervised the jury. Why was ANY member of the State Police supervising the jury? Has anyone ever heard of this beforeโPolice Officers from the same agency that investigated, testified against & was a part of the prosecution against a defendant having one of their personnel in charge of and in direct control of the jury? This canโt possibly be a standard practice due to the obvious existing conflict, no? Plus, were it standard protocol, then why wasnโt the defense made aware of this fact until 10 minutes before making closing argument, after a nearly 10 week long trial? โโโ Something majorly stinks about this, and perhaps it sheds some light on something peculiar that one of the deliberating jurors, who was recently interviewed by Aidan Kearney, kept saying in regard to the juryโs deliberative process. Specifically, something that stood out to me from juror Ronโs interview was his repeated use and references of the other jurorsโ use of the term โdistractorsโ to qualify or describe the abundant evidence representing โreasonable doubtโ brought out by the defense at trial. โDistractors.โ Itโs somewhat of a novel term, especially in this context, and is obviously antithetical to a juryโs duty to assess a case based on the proof beyond a reasonable doubt standard, which is inherently intertwined with an assessment of the existence of, or lack thereof, reasonable doubt. There was no evidence or instructions from the court that came out at trial directing jurors to view defense evidence or ARCCA experts, for instance, as โdistractors,โ and the jury is very specifically instructed not to view/consume/bring any outside information into their deliberations. In other words, if theyโre unsure who the ARCCA experts were there on behalf of (the Feds), theyโre specifically told not to โfill in the blankโ with information thatโs not there, or evidence that didnโt come in at trial. So where did the informationโthis use of the term โdistractorsโ come from? Who fed this term and this concept to the jury? The reason why it seems like it was โfedโ to the jury is because it goes against everything the court, Judge Beverly Cannone, instructed them on. So, what prompted the whole โdistractorsโ concept to taint the jurorsโ minds and deliberations? โโโ What immediately came to mind was the jury tampering by court clerk Becky Hill in the Alex Murdaugh murder trial. In that case, according to Murdaughโs attorneys, Ms. Hill โinvented a story about a Facebook post to remove a juror she believed might not vote guiltyโ. Judge Clifton Newman, who oversaw the murder trial, removed the female juror from the panel. According to the Murdaugh defense motion, Ms. Hill had gone to Judge Newman โ the day after Murdaugh testified, not long before closing arguments โ claiming that she had seen a post in the local Facebook group โWalterboro Word of Mouthโ from the jurorโs former husband, Tim Stone. The post purportedly claimed that the juror was drinking with her ex-husband and, when she became drunk, she expressed her views on whether Murdaugh was innocent or guilty. A follow-up post from an account called Timothy Stone apologised for the post saying that he was driven by โSatanโ. Murdaughโs attorneys claimed that the Mr. Stone behind the Facebook posts was actually a random Georgia man who was ranting about his wifeโs aunt โ and has no connection to the case. Additionally, information from jurors had come to the defenseโs attention about inappropriate comments supposedly made to them by Ms. Hill while she was โsupervisingโ themโthe same role as โsupervisorโ that Trooper John Fanning allegedly played in the Karen Read trial. In Murdaughโs case, the jurors were *actually* brought back into the court and were called to the stand one by one and questioned about potential comments that may have tainted their verdict. A female juror, identified only as juror Z, said that Ms. Hill had told some of the jurors to โwatch [Murdaugh] closely.โ โTo me, it felt like ... she made it feel like he was already guilty,โ juror Z said. A separate juror, Juror E, said that he heard Ms. Hill say โwatch [Murdaughโs] body languageโ, but claimed that this did not affect his decision. โโโ There were reports, at the time of the dismissal of the 3 defense-favorable jurors at Karen Readโs trial, that right before closing arguments, Trooper Fanning had reported the information responsible for dismissing these jurors to Judge Cannone. Among that information was reportedly a story about one of those jurors, claiming theyโd been overheard discussing the case while drinking at a bar (or something to that effect)โa story that sounded highly suspicious at the time, particularly given the fact that Trooper Fanning had allegedly had that information weeks before, but never reported it to the court. The similarity in Becky Hill and John Fanningโs โstoriesโ leading to the dismissal of defense-favorable jurors is rather uncanny. โโโ Is it not problematic to have individualsโwith conflicts of interest, who are also potential witnesses, and who seemingly have a vested interest in the outcome of the trialโbe in charge of overseeing and supervising the jury? Iโve attached the referenced MSP Internal Investigative Report for Trooper Fanning to this post (attached in the comments below). Whatโs troubling is that, despite acknowledging in their report that โthese allegations came to light on June 10, 2024, during the trial,โ they didnโt immediately initiate an internal investigation, but instead waited until AFTER the trial ended, July 3, 2024, to launch their internal investigation, almost as if they were planning on not initiating an investigation had Karen Read been convicted, because apparently in that case the misconduct wouldโve been justifiedโฆ or something? It should also be noted that this same practice was employed for most, if not all, of the other Police Officers in this case, whose misconduct was exposed by the defense throughout the prosecutionโs case at trialโwhereby, despite admissions and the existence of evidence of their misconduct, the MSP, NCDAO and Canton PD seemingly did everything they could to avoid initiating any investigations or holding their officers accountable for their misconduct until after the trial endedโwhen they could no longer justify not doing anything. It makes you wonder: Had Karen Read been convicted, do you think theyโd (the MSP, NCDAO or CPD) ever launch any internal investigations into the misconduct of their officers, as evidenced at trial, weeks before? โโโ It should be mentioned that in the Sandra Birchmore case, which Trooper Fanning led the investigation of, despite the Feds spoon feeding the State Police & NCDAO (DA Michael Morrisseyโs Office) overwhelming evidence + probable cause, in addition to punting the ball back to the state to do the right thing and charge Farwell with murderโa state level charge, theyโve refused to take any action to this day. In fact, not only has it now been nearly 6 months since the Feds apprehended & indicted Farwell, but the NCDAO, Fanning and the State Police, aside from taking no action, have made no statements and are still of the official position that Sandra Birchmore killed herself. To try to save face, the NCDAO, through its former spokesperson David Traub, tried to create the impression that the DAโs Office had been long working in collaboration with the Feds to secure an arrest in the Sandra Birchmore case, claiming that โtwo of [the NCDAO SPDUโs] detectives were present at the command post ... while federal authorities were attempting to take Matthew Farwell into custodyโโwhatever that means. This, of course, is patently absurd because the DAโs Office and State Police couldโve โsecured an arrestโ years agoโnobody was stopping them, but instead they framed Sandra Birchmore for her own murder. Spokesperson Traub then had the gall to say that โmuch of the information that they [federal authorities] built on originated with our investigation, including the collection of thousands of text messages.โ (See a collection of statements from the NCDAO on the Birchmore case from reporting over the years, attached in comments below). While the Feds might be somewhat playing along with this narrative, donโt be fooled. Perhaps itโs to appease the very individuals who theyโre investigating for the supposed coverup of Sandra Birchmoreโs murder. Why? If the Feds had actually been collaborating with the State Police investigators from the NCDAO who investigated Sandraโs death, then at the Fedsโ press conference announcing Farewellโs indictment, U.S. Attorney (at the time) Joshua Levy wouldnโt have feigned ignorance when asked who the lead investigator was on the case before his agency got involved (see clip 3 attached). Had the Feds actually been *collaborating* with the State Police & the DAโs Office, John Fanningโs name wouldโve been the first thing uttered out of Josh Levyโs mouth. On a side note: I think this is very telling. Does it mean the U.S. Attorneyโs Office is investigating Fanning? Who knows. But one thingโs for sure: Josh Levy 100% knew who the State Police lead investigator was and he deliberately avoided saying it. This observation is reflected in FBI Special Agent Chenee Castruitaโs 45-page long probable cause affidavit for the arrest of Matthew Farwell, which notably contains ZERO references whatsoever to John Fanning, or any of the other involved State Police investigators for that matter. If there was so much โcollaboration,โ like DA Michael Morrisseyโs Office wants the public to think, then not only would USA Josh Levy have had, at the very least, Trooper Fanning up there side-by-side with him at that press conference, but he wouldโve acknowledged him by name in his press conference. It was a fairly small fragment, maybe two inches by two inches, by a quarter inch thick. As I remember, it was kind of a mottle surface. Nolan was first approached by folks from the CIA and an aerospace company (probably Drs. Kit Green and Colm Kelleher) to look at UAP, it was related to injuries people had suffered after an alleged close encounter with said UAP. Here's what he told Vice in 2021. Nolan: "Of the 100 or so patients that we looked at, about a quarter of them died from their injuries. The majority of these patients had symptomology thatโs basically identical to whatโs now called Havana syndrome. We think amongst this bucket list of cases, we had the first Havana syndrome patients. That still left individuals who had seen UAPs. They didnโt have Havana syndrome. They had a smorgasbord of other symptoms." "With one of the patients (Thomas Winterton), it happened on the Skinwalker Ranch. (I know Winterton and Brandon Fugal may have a different opinion on who or what caused Winterton's injury, but if it WAS a state actor, why would they be using that weapon at Skinwalker Ranch? If so, that doesn't mean everything that has happened at the ranch and surrounding area is being caused by a state actor. Study the history of the Uinta Basin and you'll find that hypothesis to be seriously lacking credibility. ![Ch. 14 of NITRO: The Inside Story of Hulk Hogan's heel turn - #OTD 30 Years Ago (7/7/96)! AS DAY BECAME NIGHT at the Sullivan home, Bollea deliberated his participation in the pay-per-view. โEverybody was telling him that it was the wrong thing to do,โ Kevin Sullivan says. โHe was getting booed out of the arena, but they were all saying, โthis is gonna kill himโ.โ With no end to the discussion in sight, the wily booker casually suggested that Bollea and Young make use of his two guest rooms until the morning. โI isolated [them],โ Sullivan admits. โI was just afraid that at the last minute, he was going to use his creative control [clause] and pull out.โ If Sullivan could deliver Bollea to the arena by showtime, the finish of the match called for Hogan to star in the most dramatic of surprise endings. In a sequence devised by Kevin Nash, an unannounced Hulkster would shockingly interfere in the match, but only after the heels gained an unfair advantage through cheating. It would be a brilliant misdirection, Nash thought, as fans would instinctively believe Hoganโs appearance to be in support of the babyface team. โI knew there were gonna be 55 different ideas,โ Nash says, thinking back to the eve of the event, โ[so] I actually put a lot of thought into it. I called Scott [Hall] two or three days before that, and said โwhat do you think about this?โ โWe had to make it a 2-on-2 match with Lex Luger getting injured [during the match] and going out. We would cheat to get Macho [Man] in trouble and all of a sudden Hulk comes down, which of course would mean โok, here comes Hulk to make the saveโ. [Hall] said, โI love itโ.โ There was, however, the looming possibility that Bollea could reject his turn at the eleventh hour. Thinking ahead, Eric Bischoff developed a contingency plan in which Sting would play the role, ultimately revealing himself - despite not having prior experience with the WWF - as the โthird manโ instead. โI remember Eric came in to the locker room,โ recalls Marcus 'Buff' Bagwell, โand said [to Sting], โI wanna talk to you about somethingโ. I could hear them going over the idea, and then when they got done, Sting told me what they were talking about. He said that [Eric said], โthere are only two guys that could turn heel where it would really matterโ. That would be Hogan and Sting.โ โHe was offering Sting the job first, [as I recall], and Sting didnโt wanna do it. He didnโt really say it wouldnโt work, but he just said, โit doesnโt intrigue me. I donโt wanna do itโ.โ According to Andre Freitas, a special effects artist who worked in costume design and character development for WCW, the proposed Sting swerve was to involve the use of a doppelganger - or โphonyโ Sting - presumably in an effort to fool fans that the real character had switched sides. โThat was their original plan,โ says Freitas. โEric showed me a picture of Jeff Farmer (a lower-card wrestler) and said โcan you make him Sting?โ I told him that they have similar bodies...then we looked at Stingโs hair and Jeffโs hair...and talked about all that stuff. I did a head cast for [Farmer] and some prosthetic and test make-ups. But when they secured Hogan, we didnโt do [the angle].โ ----------- Amazingly, even as Bash at the Beach began, Bischoff continued to consider Plan B. โI remember walking by this perforated wall in the Ocean Center,โ divulges Nash, โand Eric said to me, โHulk is with Sullivan, and heโs not sure heโs gonna do it yetโ. It was up in the air.โ Meanwhile, viewers of the pay-per-view - and, for that matter, WCWโs own production staff - speculated as to the identity of the third man. โThey were trying to โworkโ everyone,โ asserts Jason Douglas, a WCW producer backstage at his first pay-per-view event. โโRocketโ (staff member Rick Sancher) came up to me - they were kinda testing me because I was new on the road - and said โhey, I think itโs gonna be [WWF wrestler] Bret Hartโ. I guess it was to see if I would leak something, and so I was just like โoh, cool, Bret Hartโ.โ In reality, aside from Bischoff, Bollea, Young, Hall, Nash and Sullivan, the turn would be concealed from everyone - even the announcers, according to orders from Bischoff - as to ensure their most realistic reactions. With less than an hour before the main event began, production staffer Woody Kearce discovered a revealing clue in the parking lot. A Hulk Hogan motorcycle had appeared mysteriously in one of the spaces, sparking another round of backstage conjecture. Finally, with what Sullivan recalls as โthirty minutesโ and Bischoff remembers as โforty-five to sixty minutesโ left on the air, Bollea belatedly arrived at the Ocean Center. The mood suddenly changed. Upon realizing that his star had been convinced, Bischoff began to relax. โOnce he got to the building, I recall a sense of calm,โ he reveals. โAll of the anxiety, all of the tension, all of the worry, all of the effort to make sure things stayed quiet...all of that just kind of dissipated. It was like fog lifting when the sun comes out - it all just went away. I was thinking, โit is what it is, thereโs nothing more I can do...so letโs just roll with itโ.โ To cement the turn, Bollea knew, he would have to deliver a monumental post-match promo to explain his actions. While typically, he enjoyed using Bischoff as a sounding board to rehearse interviews, the need for complete privacy - on this occasion - was unquestionably paramount. And so, away from prying eyes - and ears - the two met up in the most unglamorous of clandestine locations - a utility closet. In the midst of the run-through, Bischoff stopped to emphasize an important point: When you grab that microphone, I want you to say...โthis is the beginning of the new...world...orderโ. The phrase - โnew world orderโ - lingered auspiciously in the air. Bischoff surprised himself with the utterance, realizing slowly that the term encapsulated everything that the invasion storyline could represent. In 1990, then-president George H.W. Bush famously utilized the same expression in a speech to Congress, although its origin could actually be traced back to the 28th President, Woodrow Wilson. But if Bischoff was unsure as to the source of his spontaneous inspiration, perhaps the answer could be found closer to home - on the preceding Nitro, just six days earlier, announcer Larry Zybysko serendipitously made the following proclamation: โThis Sunday, I promise you, there will be a new world order of wrestlingโฆโ Fans at the Ocean Center waited anxiously to see if Zybyskoโs prophecy would materialize; for after all the hoopla, it was suddenly time for the main event. Before the opening bell, the audience was already on its feet for ring announcer@Michael_Bufferโs pre-match introductions. As Hall and Nash sauntered to the ring for The Hostile Takeover match, Buffer set the scene with theatrical aplomb: โLadies and gentleman, at this time, let me introduce the men whose plan and goal is to takeover the WCW with force and hostility. We were told there would be three of these interlopers, and I must apologize as I have been informed - as you can see - there are only two. Ladies and gentleman, introducing...the Outsiiiiiders!โ In a moment that played off perfectly on television, Stingโs entrance music began - and quickly ended - as โMean Geneโ Okerlund traipsed cautiously into the ring. After exchanging quizzical looks with Buffer and referee Randy Anderson, Okerlund confronted the Outsiders to get some answers, an inspired plot device designed to build the tension even further. โGentleman,โ began Okerlund, โif I could have your attention...I donโt have police protection with me at this time, but I wanna confront you in front of this full house here at the Ocean Center, and millions of others watching across the country and around the world. I donโt see three men here tonight. Where is your partner?โ Responding in a manner consistent with their WWF characters, Hall and Nash assured Okerlund that the third man was present - and ready. โLet me tell you something,โ announced a confident Nash, โwe got enough to handle it right now, right here.โ Once more, Stingโs entrance music blared from the arena speakers, this time preceding the man himself, accompanied by Luger and Savage. โHere we go!โ screamed color commentator Bobby Heenan as the wrestlers passed an unusually large contingent of security personnel on the entrance way. โThe war is on!โ Less than two minutes into the bout, Luger collapsed to the outside, a move in accordance with Nashโs plan to even the sides before the climactic reveal. โNow itโs two against two!โ yelled Heenan. After a brief delay, the concerned crowd looked on as Luger left the arena on a stretcher, leaving Sting and Savage alone to fight valiantly for WCW. As the match progressed, the contemptible Outsiders used every trick to stall their opponentโs momentum, until a revitalized Savage began a furious rally at the fifteen-and-a-half minute mark. The invaders were suddenly down, but not out - as with the referee distracted, Nash landed a low-blow to bring the Macho Man to his knees. All four men lay on the canvas, exhausted, as referee Anderson started a ten count. As Anderson yelled โONEโ, several rows of spectators rose to their feet. Within seconds, the reaction diffused from section to section, the noise level increasing with each passing beat. On the live broadcast, viewers at home caught glimpse of a familiar figure making his way down the ramp. โHulkamania!โ screamed Dusty Rhodes on commentary while Hogan walked methodically towards the ring. Noticeably, the Hulkster seemed oddly disaffected - even out-of-character - but after exchanging the briefest of glances with the crowd, he continued stride with the din reaching fever pitch. โWhose side is he on?โ bellowed Heenan, a question that seemed inexplicable given the history of Hoganโs on-screen persona. โWhose side is he on?โ repeated Heenan, who as longtime fans could recall, had opposed Hogan for years as a manager in the WWF. For that reason, the comment flew over the heads of most (but not all) viewers; meanwhile, the live crowd was cheering as if their team had won the World Series. Nash and Hall retreated to the floor as Hogan tore off his shirt, an apparent signal that the archetypal good guy was here to save the day again. โWhoโs bad now boys?โ taunted play-by-play man Tony Schiavone on commentary, confident that WCWโs honor was no longer in jeopardy. Savage lay prone on the mat as Hogan surveyed the scene. Above the cheapest of cheap seats, peeking through a curtain with palpable anticipation, was Eric Bischoff. โI knew that something big was about to happen,โ he recalls. โIt was either gonna be a big failure, or a big success.โ Seemingly out of nowhere, with his unsuspecting devotees enveloped in celebration, Hulk backed up to the corner. With the coldness of a serial killer, the once-honorable hero shockingly shoved referee Anderson, and executed his patented finishing move - the leg drop - to the helpless Macho Man below. The audience became completely, utterly unglued. โI was standing back with the announcers,โ remembers Michelle Baines, newly hired as a production assistant. โOne of the producers turned to me and said, โyou need to go to the backโ. โโI said, โwhat do you mean?โ โShe said, โitโs gonna get ugly real quickโ.โ โShe was right - the crowd turned ugly quick.โ In retrospect, it was clear that even as Hoganโs body approached the canvas - contact with Savage just milliseconds away - the gravity of the assault started to hit home. โWhat has he done?โ questioned a crestfallen Rhodes, โis he the third man? What the hell is going on here?โ Heenan was even more direct - โHulk Hogan has betrayed WCW! He is the third man in this picture!โ A breathless Schiavone could barely muster more than three words: Oh My God, he repeated. Oh My God, he continued, as Hogan high-fived a grinning Hall and Nash. The courageous Sting, stumbling to his feet to stop the injustice, was quickly dispatched, and in the coup de grace, Hogan tossed Anderson to the floor. Sardonically, he covered Savage for the pin, the contest now clearly a farce. โI hope you love it,โ a disappointed Rhodes wailed on commentary. โYou just sold your soul to the devil.โ The third man was a mystery no more, and Hall, Nash, and Hogan raised their hands in victory to a genuinely astonished audience. The immediate outrage, which first gave way to shock, was now inspiring unmitigated rage. Simultaneously, the evil trio continued to taunt, pose, and antagonize while the announcers lamented WCWโs future. As Sting and Savage hobbled back to the locker room, a visibly distraught Okerlund returned to conduct an explanatory interview, based around the one Hogan and Bischoff had mapped out earlier. โMean Gene,โ commanded Hogan, โthe first thing you need to do is to tell these people to shut up if you wanna hear what I gotta say.โ For the next four minutes, Hogan rationalized his turn with remarkable clarity. โThe first thing you gotta realize, brother, is this right here is the future of wrestling. You can call this the new...world...order of wrestling. These two men right here came from a great big organization up north, and everybody was wondering who the third man was. Well, who knows more about that organization than me, brother? I made that organization a monster. I made people rich up there. I made the people that ran that organization rich up there. And when it all came to pass, the name Hulk Hogan, the man Hulk Hogan, got bigger than the whole organization!โ Bischoff watched from his secretive seat in amazement - he had not seen, nor had anyone, this intensity of emotion on display at a wrestling show before. It was almost as if the assembled masses had lost themselves in the performance, perhaps even forgetting, if only for a moment, that they were witnesses to a pre-determined event. Hoganโs actions had ostensibly interrupted their critical faculties; in other words, they had suspended their disbelief by reacting to the incident as if it were real. Moreover, the shock was manifesting in the most volatile ways imaginable, as in an incident edited out of future showings of the pay-per-view, a rather large man, likely intoxicated, ran into the ring before being knocked down by Hall and Nash. Concurrently, a stream of debris rained down from the stands, with one object hitting Okerlund, and the rest filling the ring in a stunningly unique visual. Hogan continued as the trash piled up around him, even referencing Ted Turner in his diatribe: โBillionaire Ted promised me movies brother. Billionaire Ted promised me millions of dollars. And Billionaire Ted promised me world caliber matches. And as far as Billionaire Ted, Eric Bischoff, and the entire WCW goes, Iโm bored brother! Thatโs why I want these two guys here, these so-called Outsiders. These are the men I want as my friends. They are the new blood of professional wrestling, and not only are we going to take over the whole wrestling business...with Hulk Hogan, the new blood and the monsters with me, we will destroy everything in our path, Mean Gene.โ โLook at all the crap in this ring,โ responded Okerlund. โThis is whatโs in the future for you if you want to hang around the likes of this man Hall, and this man Nash.โ Hogan raised his finger as if to stop the interviewer midstream, the perfect line instantly coming to mind. โAs far as Iโm concerned, all this crap in the ring represents these fans out here,โ he boomed defiantly. โFor two years, I held my head high,โ ranted Hogan, alluding to his rather uninspired WCW tenure. โI did everything for the charities. I did everything for the kids. And the reception I got when I came out here, you fans can stick it brother! Because if it wasnโt for Hulk Hogan, you people wouldnโt be here. If it wasnโt for Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff would still be selling meat from a truck in Minneapolis. And if it wasnโt for Hulk Hogan, all of these โJohnny come latelysโ that you see out here wrestling wouldnโt be here. I was selling the world out, brother, while they were bumming gas to put in their car to get to high school!โ In closing, Hogan foreshadowed the future state of affairs in WCW with a prophetic preview of coming storylines: โWith Hulk Hogan and the new world organization of wrestling, brother...me and the new blood by my side...whatcha gonna do when the new world organization runs wild on you? Whatcha gonna do? What are you gonna do??โ Despite mistakenly bungling the โnew world orderโ phrase at the conclusion of his speech, Hogan still provided the perfect punctuation to a sensational heel turn. His promo, inarguably the most dynamic of his career, came across as strikingly authentic (โit felt real, because it was realโ,โ offered a proud Eric Bischoff upon reflection years later). On commentary, Schiavone - who most inspiredly suggested that Hogan had planned to double-cross WCW all along, since his debut in 1994 no less - added to the realism with some mournful final comments: โWe have seen the end of Hulkamania,โ he grieved. โHulk Hogan, you can go to hell! Weโre outta here. Straight to hell.โ ---- To the layman, there appeared an obvious explanation for the feverous crowd response that accompanied Hoganโs turn. Clearly, the element of surprise - one of the key elements of Nitroโs success - had been exploited to a masterful degree (โnobody on earth thought that the third man was going to be Hulk Hogan,โ highlights Nash). To Kevin Sullivan, however, there were several layers of story at play. โPeople thought that it was an invasion from the WWF,โ he begins, implying that the success of the angle could be correlated to its realism. โThey really bought into it, and when Hogan turned heel...they were sure of it. โSo while Hogan gets the credit for the reaction, it was [Nash and Hall] who set the whole thing up. Those guys built the foundation of heat, and when Hogan came down, it just blew up.โ โWe were red hot coming off WWF television,โ agrees Nash, โand then you had the biggest turn in the world on top of that. The biggest babyface of all-time finally turned heel!โ To the ever-meticulous Sullivan, always a keen observer of the nuances present in a wrestling angle, an often overlooked element was also noteworthy. โHe did it to Randy [Savage],โ the booker emphasizes, speaking of Hoganโs betrayal. โPeople knew there was real-life heat there. ![โDoctor Deathโ Gives Life to Gold Mines Dave Fennell chain-smoked and studied law while winning 6 Grey Cups. He sent 3 quarterbacks to the hospital in one game, becoming 'Dr. Death' and a household name in Canada. Next Dave turned to gold exploration, building 5 ventures worth ~$5 billion. He's never shared his story publiclyโuntil now. After dominating football, Dave Fennell's Midas touch in Guyana could lead to his greatest victory. Mining legends Louis Gignac, Rick Rule and others weigh in. "I was capable of playing very violently," recalls Fennell. "If you're going to survive as a defensive lineman. The people who are opposite you, have to be afraid of you." He played 10 seasons for the Edmonton Eskimos (renamed Elks in โ21), appearing in 8 Grey Cups (Canadaโs Super Bowl). The Eskimos won 6, including 5 in a row 1978-1982. Fennell, who turned 71 Feb 4, is chain smoking Marlboros on a Zoom call with me Feb 5. Heโs reflecting on a career that spans beyond the gridiron to golden ventures. His resume includes co-founding Golden Star (US $467M sale in โ22) and Miramar ($1.5B sale in โ08). Fennell was a tenured director of Sabina ($1.1B sale in โ23) and Torex ($1.2B market cap). His Reunion Gold ($485M market cap) has rapidly discovered a major gold deposit after setbacks. Fennell's sons picked up his drive too. David Jr. played Michigan State football then turned engineer. John raced luge at the Sochi Winter Olympics, now he's a corporate analyst. โ Raised in a middle-class Edmonton, Alberta family, Fennell was the second of four children. โI was taught very early on, you're not allowed to quit when you start something. It was not acceptable.โ He completed a 4 year undergrad degree at U of North Dakota in 3 years. Fennell could have gone to the NFL, but chose to stay in Edmonton, joining the Eskimos on the condition heโd also go to law school. It's hard to imagine a pro athlete smoking, studying law, and winning six championships today. But Dave Fennell did it all. He planned to play pro for 10 seasons, and wondered, โWhat do you do when the cheering stops?โ Joining a law firm next, the bosses leveraged his "Dr. Death" fame for networking. Fennell recalls, โThey loved taking me to the Petroleum Club on Mondays.โ His law practice worked with many small miners. After three years and a Guyana field trip, Fennell decided to get into gold mining himself. At 32, Fennell founded Golden Star Resources (GSR). He partnered with Roger Morton, a U of Alberta geology professor, to explore Guyana. GSR spent $20K staking the forgotten Omai gold deposit. โIt was open ground.โ Anaconda Copper explored Omai extensively in the late 1940s but stopped when the Korean War began. Secrets of the Anaconda Library A private detective helped Fennell find Anacondaโs geological data. They learned of a cavernous library in Montana, holding 100 years of records. A librarian, just laid off, liked Fennell and sold him the Guyana files for $30K. GSR hired SNC Lavalin, with their top supercomputer, to process this historical information. It showed a big potential mine. Placer Dome partnered on Omai in โ87, before walking away. Fennell didn't give up. He invited Louis Gignacโs Cambior to visit Omai during a 3 day rainstorm. Cambior ended up funding construction for a 70% stake. It produced 3.7 million gold ounces from 92-05. Renowned mining investor Rick Rule says Fennell is easy to underestimate. "The physicality obscures a great intellect and a guy that's actually very kind. He's the classic entrepreneur. When he sees an opportunity, he can't not grasp it.โ Next, GSR pursued Cambior to partner in Suriname. โIf I had a mine each time someone told me a story about a property, I'd be a very rich man,โ Gignac says. GSRโs Rosebel discovery was in region reeling after Surinameโs civil war. โDavid, why donโt you settle down, get married, do something easier than this,โ Gignac advised him. Fennell persisted, inviting Gignac to tour Rosebel. It poured rain again on that trip, which Gignac saw as a good omen after Omaiโs success. Cambior eventually built the mine. Rosebel became one of South Americaโs largest, yielding over 6 million ounces. Today, itโs operated by Zijin. GSR stock jumped 600% in the early '90s thanks to these wins. Investor Mike Halvorson says GSRโs work in the Guianas and Suriname put the area on the map for mining. โBack in those days, from a political point of view, it was considered high-risk to go into the Guianas,โ Gignac remembers. โIt took a lot of guts for [Fennell] to get involved, and a lot of guts to follow him there. We eventually mined about twice the [initial] reserves at Omai. By doing Omai, it was that much easier to do Rosebel. We were comfortable with the region and its people. There's a lot of advantages in these countries. It's simpler. Decision makers are easier to know and be in contact with.โ Halvorson remembers Fennell throwing a 'chirping' analyst into a pool on one Suriname stay. The guy skipped on the water like a stone. Fennell and Halvorson connected in Edmonton in the 1980s through their love of migratory bird hunting. โAnything that walks, flies or swims, Dave has killed,โ says mining engineer Bruce McLeod, who hunts and fishes with Fennell. A massive Anaconda snake skin once adorned the crown mouldings in Fennellโs Montreal offices. At 41, Fennell lucked out as the sole bidder for Sigrist House, once King Edward VIII's Bahamian villa. Fennell lived there 28 years before downsizing. In the late 90โs, Fennell clashed with GSR's board and was pushed out. Later, GSR refocused on Africa and was sold to a Chinese company. To avoid GSR conflicts, Fennell eyed new gold regions. BHP's Hugo Dummett offered him all their gold assets for $80 million. But with few flush bidders, BHP sold the portfolio in pieces. Ivanhoe got Mongolia and discovered Oyu Tolgoi. Randgold took West Africa, and Harmony got East Africa. "If you'd have kept that package together, it'd be the second largest copper company [today]. And you'd be arguing with Newmont about who was the biggest gold company," Fennell says. He bought the Canadian assets for US $20.4 million. It had Hope Bay, a 4 million ounce gold discovery in the high arctic. Fennell dealt through Cambiex Exploration (CBX), where heโd been appointed Chair and CEO in January โ99, when CBX was a 15 cent stock with a $3.5 million market cap. CBX split the tab with Miramar, a modest gold miner sitting on cash. Miramar swallowed CBX in 2002, appointing Fennell Executive Vice Chairman. Miramar invested about $100 million in Hope Bay and led it through permitting. In 2008, Newmont bought Miramar for $1.5 billion. Every $1 invested in CBXโs equity funding when Fennell took over in early โ99 was worth $19.50 when Newmont acquired Miramar 9 years later. CBX shareholders made even more money through a spinout company, Ariane Gold, acquired by Cambior in โ03. Rob McLeod, a geologist at Hope Bay, admired Fennell's strong presence, humour, and optimism. Fennell built bonds with Inuit partners through fishing and Crib games, easing the permitting process. Fennell would need that optimism for his next venture. โ In 2004, Fennell listed Nevada explorer New Sleeper. A name change to Reunion Gold (RGD) came in 2006, after recruiting former GSR colleagues and pivoting again to the Giuanas. The stock ran from 30 cents to over $2 in early โ07 on the back of a Suriname gold find. It didnโt pan out. RGD crashed to 3.5 cents during the โ08 financial crisis. โWhen you take your shareholder's money and you say you're going to do this, and if it's not successful, my job is to fix that and I'm not going to roll all the stock back. I'm not going to wipe shareholders out,โ Fennell says, explaining RGDโs current 1.23 billion shares. Reunion roared back above $2 again after a Guyana manganese discovery. Then, metal prices crashed, cutting RGD to one penny by 2016. โYou're going to fail a hundred percent guaranteed in both exploration and football,โ Fennell says. โThe real question is, what are you going to do after you fail?โ A US $10 million sale of the manganese project provided a lifeline. In 2019, Barrick partnered with Reunion on exploration, committing $4.2 million. Reunion was a 7 cent stock in 2020 when they found gold at Guyanaโs Oko project. But, Barrick quickly abandoned the alliance and skipped a $3 million commitment. They even sued Reunion after Oko's success. In 2023, Barrick and RGD settled, owing nothing to each other. Oko moved from a prospect to a major gold deposit rapidly. An initial 2023 resource estimate showed 4.3 million ounces (indicated plus inferred). Fennell believes Oko could be the best gold mine in South America. He sees a 300--400,000 ounce per year, low-cost mine, with a 12 year initial mine life. "Itโs going to be much bigger and longer,โ Fennell says, optimistically. โWhether we're going to live longer is a whole different question." Reunion aims to publish a PEA study on Oko before Summer. Fennell also looks forward to a feasibility study and final permits in Q1 2015, with construction to start soon after. "From a discovery to a tier one mine in [potentially] six years, it doesn't get any better," Fennell says. Heโs in Georgetown this week, talking with the Guyanese government about Oko's future. Reunionโs looking at options: build, sell, merge, or partner up. Fennell wants RGD to avoid execution risk and debt. G Mining Services, led by Fennell's old friend Gignac, is advising on Oko. They've successfully built many mines, like Fruta del Norte in Ecuador (Lundin Gold - $3.7B market cap). Gignac's G Mining Ventures, doing well and on track in Brazil, could be a key player in Oko's future. โThere will be a mine [at Oko]. There's absolutely no question,โ says Gignac. โThe size, grade, and gold content. That's going to be the next one to put on his record.โ Thereโs a slight problem with Venezuelaโs claim over Guyanaโs Essequibo region, where Oko is. Fennell isn't worried. He says the US will protect it because of Exxon and Chevronโs huge oil investments there. Gignac says Fennell hasn't changed since they first met in the late 80s. "Always glass half-full, always enthusiastic. A track record as good as anybody at finding deals, doing exploration, and developing orebodies." Fennell is honest and a consummate salesman according to Rule. โI don't think in 35 years he ever lied to me, but he would polish the living shit out of the rear view mirror.โ Some colourful highlights of my 2 hour Zoom with Mr. Fennell were published in raw video form below.
