UPDATE: When he was a junior in high school on the basketball court at Eaglecrest High School (Aurora, CO) Cam Chapa visualized becoming Freshman of The Year in college football. Chapa accomplished that after his first season at Northern Colorado last fall. He was named one of FCS Football Central's Freshmen All-Americans. He was only on campus for a few weeks before the coaching staff determined that he needed to start for the Bears. He has everything a player needs to become one of the best in the country.

The Optimus Factory at Giga Texas continues to see quick installation and assembly of steel on the growing superstructure, now 8 column grids “long” and nearly as wide as the final perimeter grade beam. GeoPier work on the south end continues as the prerequisite for footing construction. Footings are nearly complete not eh entire north end and on the south end, the foundation is reaching into the newly reclaimed land, which will further lengthen the building, inching closer to the Central Campus Support group of facilities which includes the Battery Cathode, Die Shop and Cortex 2 facilities.

Really interesting stuff here from Illinois State men's basketball coach Ryan Pedon on scheduling. "Mid-majors are getting squeezed out of this thing." "We were like 0-for-60 on trying to schedule high-majors in the regular season... They want to play Quad 1s and Quad 4s that they can beat by 30 or 40 points to not hurt their metrics. So it's stacked against us. For mid-majors, it's becoming harder and harder to get those kinds of opportunities." USC was one that finally agreed to play ISU, on a neutral floor, 'which is nine miles from their campus.' Redbirds played an exhibition against Illinois today and have another at Northwestern on Oct. 29.

MAN FROM VENEZUELA CHARGED WITH THE MURDER OF LAKEN RILEY ON UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA CAMPUS: It is undetermined if the suspect is an illegal immigrant however a man has been charged with murder in the death of an Augusta University College of Nursing student whose body was found on the University of Georgia campus. Jose Antonio Ibarra, 26, who is not a US citizen, has been charged with malice murder, felony murder, false imprisonment, kidnapping and other charges in the murder of 22-year-old Laken Riley, police announced at a press conference Friday night. Riley’s roommate called campus police after Riley went for a jog that morning at the university’s intramural fields and never returned. Her body was found a short time later in a wooded area. She was unconscious and had “visible injuries” when officers found her, the University of Georgia Police Department said. At the press conference, the police chief said Riley died of blunt force trauma. You cannot prevent all injuries, however, there are certain things that you can control to help reduce the likelihood of injury. I watched Miller “control the controllables” that helped him stay on the court throughout his time at Indiana University. Last night, FSU Education and Events Director Jan Macvarish was on GB News speaking about Tommy Robinson and the disappearing High Court decision. Jan says the news that Tommy Robinson’s upcoming debate at the Oxford Union is a good thing, because students should be prepared to listen to people with very different views. Last week also saw a hugely disappointing judgment from the High Court in relation to the University of Sussex’s treatment of academic Kathleen Stock. As Jan says, the headline has been “Sussex win”, but it should be “academics and students lose”. This judgment is a step backwards for free speech on campus and essentially defangs the Office for Students and its ability to enforce free speech protections. The battle for free speech in our universities continues. Watch below 👇

Democracies embrace high voter turnout, not try to prevent it. Meet Cleta Mitchell. She's a top GOP attorney, who spoke last week at a Republican National Committee retreat. Mitchell told Republicans at the retreat that they need to 'combat' efforts being made to get college kids to vote. She is mad that it's easy for college kids to vote. “We need to be looking at, what are these college campus locations and polling. What is this young-people effort that they do? They basically put the polling place next to the student dorms, so they just have to roll out of bed, vote, and go back to bed,” she told them. “Wisconsin is a big problem because of the polling locations on college campuses. There are 501(c)(3)s. Their goal for the Supreme Court race was to turn out 240,000 college students in that Supreme Court race. And we don’t have anything like that, and we need to figure out how to do that and combat that,” she continued.
