๐Ÿšจ BREAKING ๐Ÿšจ Tague Davis is the 2026 ACC Player of the Year. And honestly? It wasnโ€™t even a debate. The sophomore first baseman from Louisville is putting together one of the greatest offensive seasons in college baseball HISTORY. Heโ€™s the national leader in home runs, RBI, and total bases and he didnโ€™t just break the ACC single-season home run record, he shattered it, 34 and counting after breaking the record that Florida State legend J.D. Drew set back in 1997 . Through 53 games, Davis is slashing .364 with 34 home runs and 93 RBI and nobody is close. 19 of his 34 home runs have come in ACC play alone the most by any ACC player in the last 10 years. He has 6 multi-homer games. 14 home runs with an exit velocity over 110 mph. And nearly half of his homers have come with two strikes. Thatโ€™s not just power thatโ€™s ELITE! As a freshman in 2025, he hit .283/.390/.571 with 18 home runs and 52 RBI, breaking Louisvilleโ€™s freshman home run record and leading the ACC. He came back his sophomore year and went nuclear. His father Ben Davis was the 2nd overall pick in the 1995 MLB Draft. The bloodline is real. ACC Player of the Year. Golden Spikes frontrunner. And heโ€™s only a sophomore. The Villeโ€™s got one. And has to keep him! ๐Ÿ”ดโšซ๏ธโšพ๏ธ

Caleb Durbin immediately jumps off the page as yet another breakout candidate acquired by Boston this offseason. On the surface, Durbin's production isn't necessarily eye-popping. As a rookie in '25: โšพ๏ธ .721 OPS โšพ๏ธ 6% BB / 10% K โšพ๏ธ .312 xwOBA โšพ๏ธ 105 wRC+ โšพ๏ธ 2.6 fWAR So, what stands out regarding Durbin? I. Elite Swing Decisions & Whiff-Ability. Facing major league pitching for the first time in his career, Durbin registered the 5th-best K% (10%) in MLB last year. His 94% zCon rate (T-5th in MLB) is also elite. Durbin's whiff% and chase% also ranked inside the 95th percentile (or better). We're talking about a bat with some similar contact traits like we see in Jacob Wilson, for example, but with far less chase and a bit more pullside thump. He squares up the ball well (33% โ€” 95th PCTL) and pairs that ability with taking a steady amount of walks. Point blank, the 25-year-old is a demon at limiting whiff. II. Power Surge? It's All in the Pull Air%. A gigantic reason it's so easy to pencil Durbin in as a breakout candidate is his fantastic park fit at Fenway. As a rookie, Durbin turned in an above-average 41% pull rate, plus an even-better 20% pull air rate. Utilizing that approach with a big target in left field will work wonders for his OPS. I don't expect Durbin to mash 20+ HR out of nowhere, but I'd certainly bank on seeing a number of flyouts simply turn into doubles or homers at home. III. Quality Defense. Breslow talked a lot about upgrading defense, and this move certainly does that. I've been very vocal since the start of the offseason that Mayer at 2B, not 3B, would be my preference for a multitude of reasons. Durbin (who can play all over the infield), enters the building as a plus defender at 3B. As a rookie, Durbin turned in 2 OAA, 5 DRS, 5 rPM, and 1 FRV at the hot corner. Sliding Mayer over to second base allows for easier platoon management with Romy Gonzalez โ€” who saw an increase in his defensive production at 2B a year ago โ€” and yes, is an upgrade over Alex Bregman's 1 DRS in 2025. IV. Handling Velo. Something that shouldn't get overlooked is Durbin's ability to handle velocity โ€” a department the Red Sox obviously needed to upgrade in after last season. In '25 vs. FA-types 94+ mph: โšพ๏ธ .258 BA โ†’ .275 xBA โšพ๏ธ .350 SLG โ†’ .375 xSLG โšพ๏ธ .319 wOBA โ†’ .337 xwOBA โšพ๏ธ 8% whiff rate โ€” โ€” โ€” Overall, I'm really ecstatic about the Durbin acquisition. This is FAR better than signing Suarez and calling it a day, imo. Can't forget Durbin is a guy the Red Sox have under team control for a while now (2032 UFA!). Utilizing Harrison โ€” who's name has been yanked around between trade talks or a move to the bullpen โ€” is a great piece of business. The comp pick is also massive, but we'll talk more about that soon. I think at his best, Durbin could lead off for the Red Sox by the end of '26. A legit breakout candidate and bag stealing threat with a high floor thanks to limited swing-and-miss and good defense. Really looking forward to see him more in camp.

๐ŸšจMADURO CORNERED: TRUMP GIVES HIM A WAY OUT โ€” OR ELSE Venezuelaโ€™s dictatorship is now lashing out, โ€œdenouncing colonialist aggressionโ€ after President Trump closed their airspace and delivered an ultimatum straight to Nicolรกs Maduro. But Congresswoman Marรญa Salazar โ€” a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee โ€” has now confirmed whatโ€™s really happening: Trump personally offered Maduro a way out. A safe exit. A final chance. And Maduro still refused. Why? Because, according to Salazar, the Cubans who control his repressive apparatus โ€” and the narco networks heโ€™s entangled with โ€” may kill him before he even reaches the plane. Thatโ€™s the level of corruption and terror rotting the Venezuelan regime from within. Salazar didnโ€™t hold back: โ€ข Maduro is a โ€œLatin American thug, dictator, caudillo.โ€ โ€ข The Venezuelan people are begging for American help to free them from 25 years of narcoterror and misery. โ€ข And this moment โ€” right now โ€” is historic. Her words: โ€œPresident Trump is liberating the continent from China, Iran, Russia and the drug dealers.โ€ Make no mistake โ€” this is bigger than one dictator. Itโ€™s a message to every cartel-linked regime from Caracas to Havana: Your time is up. And with massive U.S. air and sea power already positioned off Venezuelaโ€™s coast, combined with Maduroโ€™s reported $50 BILLION narcoterrorism bounty, the choice facing him could not be clearer: Exit now โ€” or be removed.

I've been seeing a lot of talk about how CM 15 is "The worst CM to date" and really just general negativity around the state of this CM. I wanted to give my perspective as someone who has felt this is most fun CM in recent memory, using what people would generally consider one of the worst strategies. I know this won't apply to everyone and RNG factors in a lot, but I still think it's good to have the discussion. I started this CM originally with my usual plan on a Medium track around Late OG Nice Nature and double dom debuffers. The plan was to C4 velo bomb with unique and shadow break, using Dober, Red-Shift and Nimble to accel. I used my usual setup Front/Pace/Late, to give Natie the best opportunity to hit Nimble and overtake. While doing practice rooms, I found 2 things. 1) Natie was unable to get into position a lot of the time due to high front lobby composition. 2) When putting my Debuffers at end instead, Natie would have no one to overtake. Now don't get me wrong, she won sometimes but it was clear that every variation I was trying would not be able to catch up with a front or XOguri. So that left me with a problem. How do I close that 3-4 length gap? After talking with some of my knowledgeable friends, there was one mechanic I had mostly written off due to the environment. Dueling. I've always been an avid enjoyer and user of Dueling but really underestimated its power here. The clip on this post shows just how insane Dueling can be on this CM. It's more powerful than double dom for backliners. Now how you force duel to work in your favor? The best answer, a second ace. I know for a lot of solo ace players this is a non-starter, but I feel for this CM as a backliner, Dueling is the best weapon we have to win. And having a second ace drastically increases your chances to duel with each other, giving you the power you need to catch up. The second piece to the puzzle was going back to my CM7 roots and stacking final straight velocity. Normally you have to stack a lot of mid game to keep up with the pack to stay in position, but I felt that saccing a small bit of it for more late game velocity had more value. There's also probably my favorite skill this CM, It's On. This skill along with good pace up from high Wit really handled a lot of my issues. Keeping a front debuffer that would fall back in the mid game gave me almost a full guaranteed proc of It's On every race. These changes to my team saw so much success in practice lobbies, it was pretty insane to see. I was able to win almost every variation of lobby composition that is common this CM. The only one that would always be the toughest is a full front lobby. Most of my races here would be losses as both Natie and Muteki would not be able to get into a good position to hit Dober/Red-Shift. I will say I have been extremely lucky in my lobby rolls this CM to have very few of them. I've also had a few wins even in those high front lobbies despite the odds being against me. Being able to solve this puzzle to best of my ability was very fun and to see the results has been awesome. My main takeaway would be is, if you have another Oshi outside of your main one that you've always wanted to race but didn't because you were doing solo oshi, give duo oshi a shot. You might find something new that you really enjoy. It's really awesome to watch both of my favorite umas win races๐Ÿ˜Š

The now six-foot-five right-hander has already experienced the Junior Future Games (2023) and Super Sophomore Games (2024), and if all goes well this spring, he should be in consideration for this yearโ€™s Future Games team. Ranked 3rd in the state and 192nd nationally, Hicks has a frame that oozes projection with a quick, compact arm stroke into a three-quarter slot. He hides the ball well and has the arm speed that allows his fastball to get on hitters quickly. Some of his heaters run arm-side more than others, and the ones that do give right-handed hitters issues. The fastball has been up to 88.8 MPH on Trackman, and we saw that velocity upheld in-game during the fall tournament circuit. Hicksโ€™ low-80s slider is a swing-and-miss weapon with late movement, and the two pitches are a strong foundation. This past summer Hicks paced all freshman arms with 95 strikeouts (24th among all pitchers) in 65.1 innings pitched. The 95 strikeouts from a freshman pitcher was the most since Blaine Harpenauโ€™s 101 total in the 2017-2018 season. Overall, Hicks made 11 starts for the Eagles and went 6-2 with a 1.39 ERA and a .177 batting average allowed. Big things are ahead for this young arm. More on Brady โคต๏ธ
