Lateral raises remain the most butchered exercise in the gym. It's a hard exercise and doesn't require a lot of weight. What he can do better: - perform seated to isolate the movement better - drop the weight, make sure forearms are not moving, but the elbow - start with internal rotation of the shoulder, thumbs rotated inward - lead with the elbows, pushing them out and keeping shoulders down - let the weight just hang in ur hands, pressure is on the elbow - elbows stay highest point, pointing slightly up, soft bend only in elbows, thumbs point down and hands are below ur elbows the whole time That's how u target ur side delts. A small muscle and having the form down blows them up more than moving heavy weight around.

The fact that Tom Platz got into this position is testament to strength training and muscles NOT making you stiff. It’s always how you treat yourself, which motions you try to adapt. Flexibility contributes to aesthetics. Don’t only build muscle, but learn to move better.

Single arm movements for lats. Heavy rows and pulls for rear delts and traps. Because I powerlifted for so long, I always only did heavy pulls and rows. Completely neglecting the feel and connection to the lat. That’s why I spam the single arm cable pulls now and love it.

Nothing lets me feel more into the lower lats than a cable single arm pull down or row. No machine comes close to it.

Favorite exercise that let my delts really grow is seated barbell overhead press. Smith machine or regular barbell. Flat bench. Much greater tension than leaned back against a bench. Extra help from core to grind heavy reps out and easier to progressively overload.

Train arms 3x per week and tell the gym staff to turn off music.

Oldschool bodybuilding is appealing to the eye for a reason. Even into the 90s with modern steroids. Bodies still moved as a unit. Machines were rare in gyms. Cardio was leisure activity outside the gym. Soft tissue was flexible for these guys, physiques still explosive.

Trained with ⚡️🌞 Sol Brah 🌞🐬 so I had to hit the 4 plate squat (and out-squat-mog him).

Staying lean and still hitting all time PRs. 3 plate bench for 5 reps. Guess I need to set new goals now.
