On Tuesday, a Muslim family home in the Lammack area of Blackburn was targeted in an arson attack while three young children, including a baby, were inside the property. The attack caused significant damage to both the family’s vehicle and their home, putting innocent lives at risk and leaving the family deeply shaken. What happened could have had far more serious consequences. We are sharing this footage to raise awareness of this incident and to highlight the impact it has had on a family who should have felt safe in their own home. The Met Police have arrested a 52 year old man in connection with a sledgehammer attack on a Muslim family in East London. A Met Police spokesperson said: “On Monday, 8 June at around 09:12hrs, police were called to reports of an aggravated burglary on Galbraith Street, Isle of Dogs. “Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service. A 52-year-old man was detained in connection with the incident.” The suspect was sectioned under the Mental Health Act and taken to hospital by paramedics following the incident. Although the Met believes this incident was mental health related, they say they are committed to tackling all forms of hate crime, including Islamophobia.

All of the victims were girls, aged between seven and 12 years old. Local reports claim the strike occurred at 11:30am local time. Many students remain trapped under the rubble with 170 female pupils present in the school at the time of the strike.
