The Tema Traditional Council has issued a strong warning to the Ga Mashie Mantse, cautioning him against parading himself as the overlord of the entire Greater Accra region. They made it clear that they do not fall under his authority. The Council also stated that the Ga people migrated separately and arrived in present-day Ghana at a different time from other groups. During the discussion, a woman asked: “Many people assume the Ga traditional system and chieftaincy is similar to the Asante system, and therefore has an overlord.” The response was firm: “No, never. Ours is not like the Asantes. We are not a kingdom or a monarchy. The Asantes fought wars and expanded their territory through conquests — they conquered the Bono and other areas. The Ga people never did that. We never fought to conquer any state to establish a kingdom. People should therefore not confuse the Ga traditional system with the Asante one.”

Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu (1952 – 24 September 2008) was a Ghanaian chartered accountant and prominent politician. Born in Asante Akyem Agogo, he received his education at Kumasi High School (GCE O-Level 1972), Prempeh College, and the University of Ghana ( Administration – Accounting option). He qualified as a chartered accountant in 1985. He worked at Ghana Airways, Volta River Authority, Ananse Systems, and later became a partner in the accounting firm Asante Wiredu and Associates. Politically, he campaigned against the UNIGOV proposal in 1978, joined the New Patriotic Party in 1992, and was elected Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North in 1996. He served continuously from January 1997 until his death, winning with 72.3% of the votes. Under President John Agyekum Kufuor, he held key ministerial positions: Local Government and Rural Development (2001–2003), Education, Youth and Sports (2003–2005), and Finance and Economic Planning (2005–2008). As Finance Minister, he made history by presenting the 2006 Budget Statement before the fiscal year began — the first time in Ghana’s history. He was married with six children. He died in South Africa on 24 September 2008 while receiving treatment for a short illness. The Baah-Wiredu Memorial Lecture was established in 2014 to honour his legacy as an accountant, politician, and public servant.

I can confirm the statement made by Bishop. There’s a guy named Gatete in Juaso town who’s an excellent footballer. Olu, the second brother of Sulley Muntari, is the most talented among his siblings but was unable to pursue football because of an injury. Who will you name from your area
