The man, who the family claims is a neighbour, allegedly fled the scene after realising that her husband was also at home and prepared to defend his family. Police have launched an investigation into the incident. Fortunately, no one was injured. Speaking to 5Pillars, the family said they believe the attack was motivated by anti-Muslim hatred and should be treated as a hate crime.

The Met Police have arrested a 52 year old man in connection with a sledgehammer attack on a Muslim family in East London. A Met Police spokesperson said: “On Monday, 8 June at around 09:12hrs, police were called to reports of an aggravated burglary on Galbraith Street, Isle of Dogs. “Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service. A 52-year-old man was detained in connection with the incident.” The suspect was sectioned under the Mental Health Act and taken to hospital by paramedics following the incident. Although the Met believes this incident was mental health related, they say they are committed to tackling all forms of hate crime, including Islamophobia.

A heroic Saudi security guard at Masjid al-Haram bravely intervened after a pilgrim allegedly tried to take their own life by jumping off the upper floors of the masjid. The guard Rayan bin Saeed Al-Asiri was injured and hospitalised after throwing himself to catch the pilgrim, preventing him from hitting the ground. Both individuals were immediately transferred to hospital to receive necessary medical care.
