Dear Mr. President, Thank you for writing against the terrible, barbaric act of torture again, as you did in 2017 when many people were being tortured at the infamous Nalufenya detention center. Just in case you didn’t know, let me join many other Ugandans to bring it to your attention that so many more people have been tortured since then. I will list some of them but let me start with Sam Mugumya who was disappeared by security operatives a year ago and has never been released or charged in any court of law even when the courts ordered the state to investigate this matter. I also interviewed his 83 year old mother Ednansi Katungwesi who appealed to you to intervene and ensure that her son is taken to prison where she can visit him and ascertain that he is alive, if he committed any crime. Recently, a video of him surfaced and he has been visibly subjected to torture and inhumane treatment. He was tortured even worse than Nuwagaba (I say that because I interviewed Nuwagaba in 2024) and if Mugumya isn’t released to get the same treatment you offered to Nuwagaba, I am afraid he won’t survive. Many other Ugandans have been abducted and disappeared and held incommunicado and tortured. The reason suspects are not arrested in accordance with the law and held in gazetted detention is to torture them. Some of those that have been lucky to make it out have told this harrowing tales. Some haven’t been lucky because they have not been seen again for 7,6,5 years. As we speak, countless Ugandans are still held incommunicado including two very young people Christopher Gody (King Zale) and 18 year old William Baliza. Then there are others whose torture hasn’t even been hidden. Your son the CDF, has publicized it, e.g Eddie Mutwe, Erias Lukwago, etc. Just in case these had not been brought to your attention, I and many other Ugandans are bringing them to your attention. Otherwise Ugandans may think you only care about the torture of Nuwagaba who comes from Kiruhura where you also come from and not the plight of so many other parents like the 83 year old mother of Sam Mugumya and of these many other Ugandans that have been tortured. Thank you for your attention to this critical issue.

Col Edgar Musasizi stated, under oath, that “the applicant is not and his never been in their custody”. The then army Spokesperson said, on one of the TV shows, that Sam Mugumya is in the habit of disappearing. Over a month after his enforced disappearance, Agora Discourse brought his matter to the attention of the UN Working Group on Enforced and Involuntary Disappearance. The WG wrote to the Government of Uganda calling for appropriate investigations into the matter to clarify the fate and whereabouts of Sam Mugumya and to ensure that his rights are protected. For almost a year now, the same Government supposed to ensure the right of Sam Mugumya and all its citizens are protected, have instead kept him in incommunicado detention, tortured and maimed him. We call upon all Ugandans and all other global citizens and global authorities to join us demand for the release of Sam Mugumya. #SaveSamMugumya #JusticeForSamMugumya

Two days after a body of a young Tanzanian that was abducted was discovered floating headless in a river, about a week after her own commission mentioned contradicting figures about people her government killed during the October 2025 elections, Samia Saluhu openly and publicly called upon another head of state to join her in her violence against young people that are demanding for better leadership. How can one woman be this blood thirsty and sadistic? The murders and torture she has sanctioned are not enough yet? The endless tears of mothers are not enough! She has to be stopped.

A national leader, a legislator of 15 years, a vocal advocate of justice and good governance for decades, is disappeared in thin air and we continue business as usual!! It is 13 days today and Muwanga Kivumbi’s whereabouts is still unknown. Some young monkeys (who laugh at a burning forest) will continue saying “he brought it upon himself” until it’s their turn. Is there anyone/anything we will ever be willing to stand up for?

Tanzania’s opposition leader Tundu Antiphas Lissu has spent over 300 days in prison. He’s charged with treason for addressing a rally to advocate for “No Reforms No Elections”. He has appeared in court only a handful of times and the trial had been halted for months. Today, Tanzanians filled the Court room to show love and solidarity chanting “Rais”(President). The opposition figure in Uganda Kifefe Kizza-Besigye has spent over 430 days in prison on the same charges. Jajja Namuddu recently called me many times asking to see me. I wondered what the problem was since she had spoken to me, not long ago, on the phone of my colleague Stephen Atukwatse who is one of her representatives. When we met, she told me, “nsaba onzize kumikuttu ntegeze abantu nti obulamu bwange bukyali bubi”! She says she is tired of the back and forth with court which is making her health deteriorate , of the government and National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) refusing to give her back her land which was her only source of livelihood or to compensate her.. she asks that you listen to her plight and continue to help her demand for Justice. The criminal case against her and her fellow accused is still ongoing over a year later, and therefore the civil case against government over what they say was illegal eviction has not commenced. #JusticeForNamuddu

They ordered us to kneel down, took our our phones, asked what we were doing and Jackline told them we were writing appointment letters. One of the soldiers told the others to carry everything that was in the room. After that they ordered her (Jackline Tukamushaba) to come with them. some soldiers were in front of her others behind her, all pointing guns at her. We went to the balcony and saw them putting her into a white drone and took a video. It’s been a week since Kifefe Kizza-Besigye and Obeid Lutale failed to appear in court because of Illness. When their Lead Counsel Martha Karua SC and the team went to visit them in Luzira Prison Kifefe Kizza-Besigye was too sick to make the journey up to the visiting area. Today I’m getting reports that his health has deteriorated. As his lawyer Martha Karua SC says the prolonged and unnecessary incarceration of Kifefe Kizza-Besigye is affecting his health greatly. #FreeKizzaBesigye

“…I also disagree with Benedicto Kiwanuka. Why would you be Chief Justice in Amin’s government? Everybody should have walked away. Amin did not understand anything. Had everybody walked away, the Amin problem would have been resolved sooner….You couldn’t talk of judicial independence with Amin. How can Amin say this and you come to the Supreme Court to say the other..” Dr Busingye Kabumba quotes President Museveni in his recent article. In Nov after the death of Monica, the mother of two of Kibalama’s kids(twins) I posted that two Good Samaritans had offered to help with the twins’ fees. Here is the update; the first offer was dependent on the guardian’s willingness to switch the child to the offerer’s school. The school is in Kampala. When I finally met the guardians earlier this month they said they can’t separate the children. When I suggested that both children can be taken to this school where the owner will be paying for one of them the guardians said the children’s mother wanted the school they are in. The second offer, the Samaritan sent me 500k last week as the contribution he can afford because of many other financial obligations and the tough economy. The kids’ fees is 1,470,000 each.

In 2023 during the closed door talks that followed the impasse in Parliament of Uganda when opposition MPs were walking out in protest of their missing and illegally detained supporters, security minister Jim Muhwezi requested that the remarks made by Nabbanja where she claimed that the state has JohnBosco Kibalama be expunged from the record. He argued that Nabbanja isn’t the minister in charge of security so she didn’t know what she was talking about. Never mind that Nabbanja is supposed to be in charge of all ministries as PM. I will wait to hear how you all interpret this before I tell you how people that attended that meeting interpreted it… #FreeAllpoliticalPrisonersInUganda #FreeAllPoliticalPrisonersInUg
