Great example of McDaniel using formations, motion and film study to predict and influence player behavior and get the right matchup for Johnston to show off. Nothing more deadly than having a big arm Qb that doesn't give away his intentions in the pocket. Defense is hard! #ArchesAngles NFL on CBS 🏈

In 2001 I broke the DB record at the Combine — 31 reps 225. My personal best in training was actually 39 reps (before the 2007 season). Found out post-retirement: labrums torn in BOTH shoulders. Emergency back surgery in 2012. Haven’t trained much in 12 years… averaging only 30-40 days/year. You have to master the position BEFORE you can move it with velocity. More coming soon 🔥 #Rebuilding #BuiltNotBorn

No disrespect to the moms in this video. But if a mom can do it, it's probably not getting you ready to play football at a high level. And to be honest, a couple of those moms had pretty good technique. Nobody will ever convince me launching at stationary bags makes you a better football player.

Track the inside hip. He did it. Long stride, short stride, shoulders square. Clinic tape. But he misses the tackle. Coming from depth or forcing the ball there are 2 acceptable outcomes. Make the tackle or get him to stop his feet and turn him to your help. Neither one starts at the inside hip. Brian Branch on almost the same play shows you how it's done.

Devon Witherspoon got paid today. Four years, 132 million, most anybody's ever paid a corner. I could watch his tape all day. Impossible to get his game into two minutes of highlights. Corners get paid to cover. He's a lot more than that. I can't find a player more eager to get in the action. Six-foot, 185, plays a 220-pound brand of football. Number one thing that stands out? His decisiveness. No second guessing, no fear. All gas. Young players need to study his body language, his intensity, and his desire to be the first guy to the football. He's damn near a perfect football player.

A lot of interest in the post below. I know I come off as critical at times, but based on DM's a lot of people want to hear what I actually think about tackling. I get a kick out of being called a meathead, having my knowledge of the game questioned. The idea being you have to smack helmets and go live every day to teach tackling couldn't be further from the truth. This is a great example of how you can teach it and still get the right feeling. Shin angle, body angle, learning what it feels like to generate real force and drive through somebody, create a penetrating blow. Great way to work a cut tackle or chop tackle. Huge difference between this and running full speed at a stationary bag or tackle wheel and launching at it. Here, you have to create force to move it. You can't just launch. The resistance exposes technique. Do it wrong and it doesn't work. Safe and effective at any age, any level. I look at this and I can feel how it would make me a better tackler. I don't get that feeling launching at pads and tackling wheels. Just one idea. Think outside the box. Plenty of different, creative ways to do this, and some good drills out there. Keep an open mind. See the game from a different lens. Shout out to SuperSport Rugby IG page for the clip.

Force player or man coverage. Take the shot. Outside Knee . Always. It's a sliding scale. Closer to the line, or behind you can be aggressive. Past the loss or open field in secondary. Just get him down and stay square. Same read on his shoulders. Turned east-west, go get him. Squared north-south, he's got the advantage. Calen Bullock gives us a great picture. More coming soon.

A lot of interest on my training posts.Seems people are wanting more information on the details. Been working on it. Same system that built me. Same one I'm running with my son now. He's 18. I'm 48. He's learning. I'm coming back. We both need A LOT MORE detail work on the technique. It's always about the HOW, not the WHAT. Working on something. Cohort opens early June. The list gets the open notice 24 hours early. The list — link in bio. Built, Not Born.

I know exactly where Minkah's coming from. I sat in that same seat. In 2002 I backpedaled in Cover 2 against Dallas the whole game and got no action. Next day I told Lovie Smith I was bored. Two weeks later he taught me Will linebacker. We beat the Raiders 28-13 and I had 17 tackles. He moved me around the rest of my time in that defense. I came alive and ended up one of the best underneath defenders in the league because of it. That came out of one conversation I almost didn't have. A lot of guys in that league feel exactly like this right now. Most of them won't say it, but they need to. Clip via Pivot Podcast

30 years ago I started a journey. Not one scholarship offer. The reason? I was deemed too slow. That day I DECIDED nothing would stop me. I found my trainer Jay Schroeder and started an unorthodox training program that tested me physically, emotionally, and psychologically to level I could have never imagined. I lived by the mantra that: Your will to PREPARE for success had to be far greater than your desire for success. I went all in, committed my heart and soul, and 5 years later - 25 years ago - I had my chance to show the NFL how far I’d come. Here the video from my pro day: 40 YD - 4.37 Short Shuttle - 3.83 3 Cone - 6.37 Long Shuttle - 10.77 Pedal Flip - 4.11 I also benched 225 lbs 31x , vertical jumped 39.5", broad jumped 10'10" I literally transformed myself from a nobody to one of the best in the world in 5 years. I post this not to brag but as a reminder. BELIEF is powerful. Don't ever allow or entertain anybody's judgment or narrative about you, even for a microsecond. DOUBLE DOWN on yourself and always put it all on your shoulders. Have immense GRATITUDE for what God has put in front of you. Looking back, I’m grateful I didn’t earn a scholarship, that I had to walk on, that I had to fight and sacrifice to a level I never thought possible... To BELIEVE in myself so deeply that nothing could ever stop me. I have immense pride in that journey... More than in any NFL accolade. It represents defying the impossible and forms the foundation for everything I do in life today. My only regret? Back then, I thought it was all me. It wasn't. Better late than never: all glory to God #AlBundy #GloryDays #Resilience #NeverQuit #NFLCombine

I ask myself all the time.. Is it players or plays? Are we putting players in a position to succeed or are we just calling blitzes for the sake of calling blitzes??? For some reason the Rams defense gave Seattle easy access to the middle of field for the SECOND time in 2 games!! #ArchsAngles #RamsvsSeahawks #Rams #Seahawks12 NFL on CBS 🏈

Why I Don’t Love the Seahawks Tackling Video! I’ve got strong feelings about how we teach tackling. Every time I share my contrarian take, someone pulls up this 10+ year old Seahawks video. There are definitely some good things in it, but parts are undeniably contradictory and I just can’t agree with them. In this breakdown I explain exactly why I don't like it, why see the game the way I do and why I challenge so many traditional assumptions about the game. I always back it up with tape. This is just the intro, I’ll break down the rest later because it’s long. Agree or disagree, it’s worth the conversation. #ArchesAngles #FilmRoom #Tackling

DISGUISE! Be EXOTIC! That's all I hear lately. Change the QB picture! Teams must focus on WHY they do things—what's the purpose? GOOD NEWS for Ravens! Jesse Minter is about technique and fundamentals. With the Chargers, his defense was rarely confused and out of position. I will beat the drum: Read KEYS, play TECHNIQUE, TACKLE, and you will always have a chance to make a play. Most big plays don't come from being too simple—they come from assignment errors and indecision. #ArchsAngles #FootballIQ #DefensiveMindset #JesseMinter #NFL Baltimore Ravens

The best tacklers all track the near pec. Go helmet behind and you just roll past the runner, wondering why you can't get guys down. Quincy Williams shows you the difference. The best tacklers all track the near pec. Go helmet behind and you just roll past the runner, wondering why you can't get guys down. "Marry the run and pass" so it looks the same. Defense can do it too!! Marry the "Blitz, Disguise, and Coverage!!" I watched every 3rd & 7+ of the Seattle Seahawks defense this season. They rarely disguised and never ran exotic coverages. Here is one of the rare ones... Being under control, knowing your keys, and playing with physicality will always beat trying to fool the QB!! #ArchsAngles #NFL #Seahawks #seahawksvspatriots NFL on CBS 🏈
