What makes a ballistic system… ballistic? A ballistic system leaves the atmosphere within moments, accelerates to extremely high speeds, and re-enters into the atmosphere, undergoes high thermal and mechanical stress and reaches precisely its objective on a previously calculated trajectory. This flight profile combines speed, altitude and precision to deliver long-range capabilities while following a trajectory calculated in a few minutes before launch. Behind this seemingly simple principle lies decades of expertise in propulsion, re-entry technologies, guidance, navigation and flight control. 🚀 Every ballistic capability starts with a demonstration. Discover for the first time the firing video of the ballistic munition FLP-t developed by ArianeGroup and Thales Group! The successful test in May with the support from the Missile Testing Division of the French Defense Procurement Agency (DGA) confirmed much more than the performance of a new rocket that represents the upper echelon of artillery systems with a range of 150 km. It marked a first building block for a new conventional ballistic strike capability that addresses a broad range of operational requirements in an evolving strategic context. Developed in less than 18 months for the versatile and interoperable Thales X-Fire launcher, the rocket munition validated ArianeGroup's ability to rapidly design, build and fly a new sovereign ballistic system while demonstrating the accuracy and reliability of its technologies The test has underscored both ArianeGroup’s ability to master the physics of long range flights with high altitude ballistic trajectories and our industrial expertise, paving the way for the B-Strike line-up that encompasses ballistic missiles ranging up to 2500 km. Europe’s access to space also begins at sea. 🚢 Canopée transports Ariane 6 components from mainland Europe to the European spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana. 🌍 Equipped with four Oceanwings sails, this hybrid wind-powered cargo ship reduces fuel consumption and carbon emissions compared with traditional transport used during the Ariane 5 era. 🇪🇺 ArianeGroup attended an event in the European Parliament to present Canopée and its vital role for an independent European access to space. ArianeGroup and the European Space Agency (ESA) have signed a new contract under the Future Launchers Preparatory Programme to continue the development of the GRETA rocket engine. 🚀 The agreement follows a successful hot-fire campaign completed in 2025 in Germany. The German contribution to the development of GRETA is coordinated by Deutsche Raumfahrtagentur. GRETA explores hydrogen peroxide and ethanol as alternatives to traditional hypergolic propellants, introducing new ignition and combustion challenges while improving sustainability and handling safety. 🔥 The campaign delivered critical data on combustion performance and cooling behaviour.
