When Agbajelola covered Fela… In 1978, Fela Kuti released Shuffering and Shmiling. Two years later, Sikiru Ayinde Barrister brought the song into his own musical world in the Album FUJI DISCO. It was more than a cover. Omo Agbaje took Fela’s sound, rhythm and message and reinterpreted it through the language of Fuji, making it unmistakably his own. This was AYINDE at his most adventurous; listening beyond Fuji, embracing other sounds, and showing that Fuji could absorb, adapt and speak in many musical languages. Some songs become relevant again when life gives them a new meaning. In the Album Fuji Fantasia, Agbara Iku Medley, Sikiru Ayinde Barrister sang words that was not specifically written for Alhaji Taiwo Hassan “Ogogo”. Yet, following the passing of the veteran thespian and actor, listening to this particular passage feels remarkably poignant. As we remember Ogogo, Alhaji Agba’s words offer another moment of reflection: death comes for everyone, but the life we live and the legacy we leave behind become our enduring testimony. December 16, 2025, it will be 15 years since Alhaji Sikiru Ayinde Barrister Omo Agbaje died. Leaving a lasting legacy -FUJI, a genre of music that’s shaping the entertainment landscape globally. Coincidentally, he “officially” entered the professional music scene 60 years ago -1965, as young boy before becoming a full-time musician after the Nigerian Civil War, releasing his first LP in 1966.

It’s been 33 years since Alhaja Simbiat Atinuke Abiola (RIP) wife of Late Chief MKO Abiola died. Sikiru AYINDE delivered one of the best dirge in her honour on the side B of the album “Dimensional Fuji”. The song was delivered in the traditional Wọ́rọ̀ music genre which is peculiar to Egba people in Abeokuta.
