Rasika Dugal, outspoken as ever, says she would have said no to a movie like Animal because her biggest fear is that one day she will accept a project that will inadvertently promote misogyny. With Mirzapur and Delhi Crime, this has been Rasika’s moment in many ways. It was wonderful to have Rasika with us. She shared that the politics of every project she chooses is of utmost importance to her, not just as an afterthought, but as the very foundation of her decisions. Here's an actor who is deeply mindful of the ideas, values, and narratives she puts into her work, in an industry where choices are often driven by commercial viability, convenience, glamour, or pressure. More power to you and your tribe, Rasika Dugal . Cheering for you all always. WeTheWomen

"I will protest again. I do not have a single regret” In this in-depth video testimony from the survivor of a pellet gun firing during the Cockroach Janta Party - CJP protests - 25 year old Irshad Mansoori’s composure is striking. After four surgeries to remove 7 metallic pellets from his neck and face and near his eye, Irshad, the son of a farmer from Jabalpur, speaks quietly but firmly and he speaks without a trace of bitterness or anger. There are dozens of metal bits still embedded in his body. The police had at first denied using pellet guns - they are normally deployed in conflict zones like Kashmir and have been contentious there too. Each cartridge contains hundreds of metal balls and when fired causes a wide spray that can blind the person hit. Irshad narrowly survived permanent damage to his eye. In this brave and stoic conversation with me, Irshad relives the day he told the RAF with folded hands “I am not an anti national”. And yet, despite all that has happened he says if he believes in the cause, he will protest again. Please watch the full conversation here

"Do I look like a terrorist to you"- the son of a daily wage labourer at Jantar Mantar tells me he came here because he doesnt have a job nor sees hope of one. "If we dont get work, is our only option to die?"- The CJP protests started with NEET but have captured a larger anxiety over jobs among the young. To ignore that is to not understand the zeitgeist. As PM Modi made his first direct comment on the NEET Exam leak, I've been at Jantar Mantar on the ground for the last several hours. At the very entry, after a night of heightened tensions and violence at Tolstoy Marg, we see additional CRPF Deployment, Water Canons, Tear Gas Cannisters & Riot Police Vans at the protest site as well. Hopefully this is all strictly precautionary. Protesters though are distinctly angry about why security is being fortified. Those at the site are adamant about the demand for Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation. The CRPF did not create this crisis and I feel sad that they have been put in the firing line for a situation that can only be resolved politically. Protesters insist that those responsible for violence against cops are not from their movement . I truly hope a dialogue begins soon to de-escalate as protests have now spread to multiple cities. Incontrovertible evidence of how Twisha Sharma was abused and maligned by her husband and his mother emerges on tape. Imagine a mother in law who asks her daughter in law about her sexual history, former partners, accusing her of promiscuity- and comparing her to a prostitute, while, her son, calls his wife a R##ndi . Who made this lady a judge ? I was truly chilled to the bone when I heard this audiotape - where Twisha Sharma’s brother, a serving major in the army confronts his sister's mother in law and takes her on for the constant harassment of Twisha. On April 22nd days before she was tragically found dead in the judge’s home, the family secretly recorded what may now stand as one of the most chilling windows into the cruelty Twisha endured inside her marital home. In the audio, accessed exclusively by Mojo Story, Former Judge, Giribala Singh can be heard brazenly defending her son against the complaint that he called cTwisha a “r*ndi” . She can be heard aggressively saying that it’s her right to know whether her daughter in law has had multiple partners in the past. And then- that oldest trope in the world- she questions her morality, accuses her of promiscuity and invokes parallels with prostitutes ( used in this context as an abuse by her) , language so vile, so dehumanising, it is hard to listen to without outrage. "Maine Haath Jode, Phir Be Maara"- I have been saying that the CJP Protests have become about much more than NEET leaks; they are also about jobs, anxiety, the future, hope, sorrow, fear- On ground at Jantar Mantar, I meet Raj, a 16 year old who ran away from his home in U.P to be part of the protests. When the police crackdown came it did not spare him. He still smiles every now and then, a Tiranga draped over his shoulders - More ground reports here
