On August 11, 1999, an Air France Concorde supersonic jet performed the ultimate eclipse chase. While the eclipse lasted just 2 minutes and 23 seconds on the ground, the Concorde flew at Mach 2 along the eclipse path. Flying at 57,000 feet, high above the clouds, it intercepted the Moon's shadow and stayed inside it, allowing passengers to experience an uninterrupted totality of over five minutes. 🎥:
