Today , the Hon Min of Defence &amp; Military Veterans, Angie Motshekga welcomed 2,600 new soldiers in the Dept of Defence . They have just completed their basic training at 3 SAI Battalion in KIMBERLY. Congrats and welcome to the military family.

Today, H.E Ambassador Dipuo Letsatsi-Duba and I arrived at the 17th International Defence Fair in Istanbul, leading 13 South African Defence Companies who will be showcasing South African Defence Equipment at the fair. Our position as industry leaders in all defence capabilities will be realized.

The developed world is using our coal to generate electricity for their citizens. Here at home we are told to close down coal generated plants. This export business of our coal is estimated to be around 700%. Comrades in coal business can u at least give the same clean coal.

Responding to oral questions to the peace and security cluster today in the National Assembly, I emphasised that there can be no further delays in the National Treasury implementing the President’s directive to increase the Defence budget from 0.7% to 1.5% of GDP.
