Oct. 14, 1995. Maple Leaf Gardens. Tie Domi’s infamous sucker-punch on Ulf Samuelson of the #Rangers. It earned the #Leafs enforcer an eight-game suspension from Brian Burke, who ran #NHL discipline back then. Sam Rosen and John Davidson of the New York telecast called the incident. #LeafsForever

Epic rant on #TSN #Overdrive by O-Dog, aimed primarily at Keith Pelley for fancying himself as a hockey man. Again, this unvarnished media commentary can only happen because TSN’s parent company, #Bell, divested itself from #MLSE. Last year, no chance this occurs. #Leafs #LeafsForever

Jeff O’Neill has always been good on the air but his performance has risen ten-fold since #TSN’s parent company - #Bell - divested in Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment. This intensity of dialogue would not be heard on #Sportsnet or Hockey Night In #Canada. It’s O’Dog at his best - tonight - on #Overdrive. #Leafs #LeafsForever

I never had an ounce of respect for Mel Bridgman after this infamous moment in Game 3 of the #Flyers - #Leafs playoff on April. 15, 1976. Yes, #Philadelphia coach Fred Shero encouraged his bullies to take out Borje Salming, thereby easing their path to the next round. But, watch what Bridgman (10) does to the #Toronto defenceman. Such a cowardly act. And, no help at all from Bob Neely, who’d been a terror in Junior with #Peterborough, but was a mouse in the #NHL with the Leafs. Commentary from the Philly telecast tandem of Don Earle and Ted Lindsay. #LeadsForever #StanleyCup

Apr. 30, 2002. Air Canada Centre. After the #Leafs beat the #Islanders in Game 7; the home team winning all matches. It was the most-vicious playoff series of my 17 seasons covering the Leafs for The FAN-590. Scott Oake did interviews on the ice with Alyn McCauley, Gary Roberts, Curtis Joseph and Bryan McCabe. Bob Cole and Harry Neale called the series on #CBC. This #Toronto team had loads of character. If healthy, it could have won the #StanleyCup. Instead , Leafs lost to #Carolina in six games of the Cup semifinals. #LeafsForever

The late Bob Probert at his worst. Dec. 23, 1987. Joe Louis Arena. The #RedWings and #Sabres in a dandy brawl. My ol’ media pal, Mike Robitaille, is rather clairvoyant alongside legendary #Buffalo broadcaster Ted Darling, who tried out his singing voice. #Detroit #NHL #hockeyfights #Leafs #LeafsForever

May 4, 2001. Air Canada Centre. I covered this series between the #Leafs and New Jersey #Devils for The FAN-590. #Toronto had all the emotional momentum until Tie Domi absurdly threw an elbow at Scott Niedermayer. Here’s the TV segment from #CBC. Harry Neale does most of the talking and was surprised, at first, like everyone in the arena but Scott Stevens, who saw the cheap shot. He was in the penalty box below my press location and was romping around like a caged animal. We soon understood why. #LeafsForever

Jan. 16, 1992. #Chicago Stadium. The night Stu Grimson of the #Blackhawks lost his mind against the #Leafs. Jim Hughson and Gary Green called the scene on #TSN. It was two weeks to the day the Leafs had acquired Doug Gilmour from the #Flames. #LeafsForever

Jan. 15, 1998. #Canucks at #Sabres. After #Vancouver ran Dominik Hasek, #Buffalo coach Lindy Ruff replaced him with back-up Steve Shields. Canucks coach Mike Keenan put Donald Brashear onto the ice and… 😱 As called by the late, great Rick Jeanneret. #NHL #hockeyfights #Leafs #LeafsForever

Mar. 4, 1991. Madison Square Garden. More than three decades after this scrap, Craig Berube would coach Tie Domi’s son with the #Leafs. Back in ‘91, when the #Flyers played the #Rangers, Craig and Tie were two of the toughest hombres in the #NHL. #LeafsForever #Philadelphia

This was weird. May 29, 1993. Maple Leaf Gardens. After the opening face-off, with action underway in Game 7 between the #Leafs and #LAKings, Hockey Night In #Canada had to catch up with its sponsorship intro. Great view from above of the iconic center-ice circle at the Gardens. Bob Cole in his prime. #LeafsForever #StanleyCup #CBC

Arguably the most-exciting and gut-wrenching moments for #Leafs fans in the post-1967 era. May 27, 1993. Los Angeles Forum. Wendel Clark comes off the bench as an extra attacker and ties Game 6 of the #StanleyCup semifinals. Then, the play #Toronto hockey zealots still lament, 33 years(!) later, as Wayne #Gretzky gets away with cutting Doug Gilmour. Just prior to overtime. If the Leafs had scored, it would have set up a Cup final encounter with the #Canadiens. Instead, Gretzky was still around to connect on the powerplay, then dominated Game 7 at the Gardens. It’s still the closest Leafs have come since ‘67 to playing for the #NHL championship. Bob Cole and Harry Neale called the play. I was sitting two rows behind them for The FAN-1430. #LAKings #LeafsForever

More than 42 years later, this remains the greatest nine minutes of playoff overtime I’ve ever seen. Apr. 10, 1984. Nassau Coliseum. Bob Cole tried to keep up with the frenetic action, as Ken Morrow slapped a low shot past Glen Hanlon to give the #Islanders a victory over the #Rangers and a chance to extend their four-year #StanleyCup reign. Ultimately, #Gretzky and the #Oilers spoiled the party, winning their first #NHL championship. #NewYork #Leafs #CBC
