Light's attorney told the judge, “This is a complete misunderstanding, Your Honor. My client was trying to get a picture of Ms. Clancy.” Light pleaded not guilty and is to return for a pre-trial hearing on Oct. 15.

In an interview with Politico, El-Sayed said he deleted all of his social media posts from before July 2023 earlier this summer to "prevent any old posts from being taken out of context."
