Mike Lawler just DEFENDED his friend, domestic abuser Max Miller, and doubled down on refusing to return the $17,000 he’s received from Miller. Worst of all, Mike Lawler blamed Miller’s ex-wife for the horrific abuse she and their two-year-old daughter suffered. Truly disgusting behavior from anyone, let alone a member of Congress. Mike Lawler needs to go.

When I talk to Hudson Valley voters, I ask them a simple question: Is your life better or worse since Mike Lawler took office? The answer is a resounding “worse.” Mike can lie all he wants, but we can see through it. He doesn’t serve the Hudson Valley; he serves Donald Trump, his corporate backers, and himself.

As someone who has deployed six times overseas, I know firsthand what it means to risk my life to defend our country. The way the Trump administration treats our brave service members is disgraceful — from sending them off to fight in reckless wars of choice to forcing them to live in inhumane conditions while they do so. Our servicemembers and their families deserve better. Mike Lawler has voted to continue this reckless war five times, as Americans abroad and at home suffer the consequences.

Mike Lawler loves to talk about SALT, but what he conveniently leaves out is that Trump created the SALT deduction cap in 2017 to punish NY. It was set to expire ENTIRELY at the end of 2025, but Mike voted to make it a permanent tax on working families to fund tax breaks for billionaires. That’s the difference between Mike and me — he pretends he’s looking out for working families, while I’ll actually fight to lower taxes for the middle class and repeal the cap permanently.

Mike Lawler loves to point the finger at everyone but himself. Since he took office, household utility rates have gone up more than 50%, and he’s done nothing to stop it. Then he allowed Trump to cut funding for energy projects in NY. Why? Because Mike is a former utility lobbyist who continues to rake in tens of thousands from monopoly utility companies. He’s looking out for them, at our expense. When I’m in Congress, I’ll lower utility bills by holding these monopolies accountable, mandating rates be tied to better services, capping CEO bonuses, and banning foreign ownership of our utilities.

The Trump Administration started this war without Congressional authorization and without an exit strategy. Make no mistake – I am firmly committed to ensuring Iran never obtains a nuclear weapon and the Iranian people deserve better than Ayatollah Khamenei, a ruthless dictator who killed thousands of innocent Iranians. But a draft-dodging President and a Secretary of War who knows more about botox than bombs have now gotten us into this war without a clear plan for what happens next. By voting against the War Powers Resolution yesterday – Mike Lawler has failed the people of NY-17 and America. That action would have forced this Administration to develop clear objectives for the way forward before conducting further military action. 6 American servicemembers have been killed and there is still no clear plan to end this conflict. American servicemembers and the American people deserve better.
