One of the most common objections I hear from teachers about station rotation is that it means planning 3 or 4 lessons instead of 1. But a typical lesson already has a warm-up, a mini-lesson, a paired discussion, and practice...that's already several activities happening in one period! 👀 Station rotation just asks you to take what's already there and decide which parts work better as a station.

Teachers worry a 60-minute math class doesn't leave room for small group instruction. What I've observed tells a different story. Whole group feels efficient: explain a concept once, everyone hears it. But that's rarely what happens: you end up explaining it again anyway, because not everyone got it the first time.
